Tom Beach is an American former artistic gymnast known for representing the United States at the 1976 Summer Olympics and for his national and collegiate successes in the sport during the 1970s and early 1980s. [1] Born Thomas Applegate Beach on January 18, 1955, in Buffalo, New York, he became a prominent figure in American gymnastics by winning the all-around title at the 1975 USA Gymnastics National Championships and earning the NCAA championship on the horizontal bar in 1976 while competing for the University of California, Berkeley. [1]
Beach contributed to the U.S. men's artistic gymnastics team's seventh-place finish in the team all-around at the 1976 Montreal Olympics, where he also placed 32nd in the individual all-around qualification.
