Vikernes is convicted of the murder of Euronymous and arson of several churches. He is sentenced to 21 years in prison, the maximum sentence in Norway.
Musical Production in Prison
1994-2009
Despite being incarcerated, Vikernes continues to produce music under the Burzum name. He creates two dark ambient albums, 'Dauði Baldrs' and 'Hliðskjálf', utilizing synthesizers since he was not allowed access to guitars in prison.
Developing Odalism Ideology
Late 1990s - Early 2000s
During his imprisonment, Vikernes develops his ideological system, Odalism. This system blends elements of Germanic paganism, nationalism, and anti-modernism. He begins publishing writings outlining his views.
