Previous formats and logos

From its launch in to summer , and briefly again from October to late , WXWX operated as a sports radio station. It initially served as an affiliate branded as "ESPN 96.3." The visual identity during this period incorporated the iconic logo—a bold, italicized "ESPN" wordmark in white lettering within a black rectangular outline accented by red stripes—paired with the station's frequency in prominent numerals, often alongside sports-themed graphics such as basketballs, footballs, or dynamic to evoke athletic . This branding aligned with standard ESPN affiliate designs, emphasizing the network's national reach while localizing it for the Tupelo market through frequency-specific overlays on promotional materials like station IDs and event posters. In late , following a brief stint simulcasting sports from WHBQ-AM Memphis as "Sports 56," it shared similar sports-oriented visuals adapted for the Memphis extension. In summer 2016, following the end of its local management agreement with Telesouth Communications, WXWX dropped its ESPN affiliation and briefly stunted with holiday music from August to October. It then adopted an format, simulcasting "i96" from WIVG (96.1 FM) in the Memphis area, from late 2016 until 2018. The "i96" featured a sleek, contemporary with the lowercase "i" stylized as a vertical slash or , integrated into the numerals "96" in a font, often rendered in black, white, or neon accents against dark backgrounds to convey a modern rock aesthetic; promotional graphics included abstract waveforms, electric guitar silhouettes, and urban graffiti elements to reflect the genre's edgy vibe. This visual shift marked a departure from the structured sports imagery, prioritizing a youthful, rebellious look that unified the simulcast across stations. In April 2018, under a local marketing agreement with Eagle Radio Group, WXWX transitioned to a country music simulcast with WADI (95.3 FM) branded as "95.3 The Bee." WXWX adopted this bee-themed identity, featuring a logo with a cartoonish yellow-and-black bee mascot encircling the frequency "96.3" or integrated into a honeycomb pattern, complemented by rustic graphics like cowboy hats, hay bales, and acoustic guitars to evoke Southern country traditions. This change simplified the visual elements compared to the prior rock era, focusing on warm, approachable colors and icons that reinforced the format's regional appeal, and it remained in place until the November 2022 flip to the current Top 40 branding. Over these years, logo evolutions were tied directly to format transitions, with each update replacing network-affiliated or shared designs to better align with the programming's thematic core, though station-specific marks like call letters were consistently appended for local identification.
