Yelansky District (Russian: Еланский райо́н) is an administrative district (raion), one of the thirty-three in Volgograd Oblast, Russia. As a municipal division, it is incorporated as Yelansky Municipal District. It is located in the north of the oblast. The area of the district is 2,672 square kilometers (1,032 sq mi).^{[citation needed]} Its administrative center is the urban locality (a work settlement) of Yelan. Population: 33,064 (2010 census); 36,212 (2002 Census); 36,293 (1989 Soviet census). The population of Yelan accounts for 44.9% of the district's total population.
