Pre-debut
MNH Entertainment, known for managing artists like Chungha, initiated its first boy group project in early 2022 by launching the pre-debut initiative BOM (Boys of MNH), sharing content across social media platforms including Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok to introduce the trainees' skills and build anticipation.[9] The agency decided to form an eight-member group focused on dynamic, performance-oriented concepts, drawing from the members' strengths in choreography and stage presence to differentiate in the competitive K-pop landscape.[10] The members trained intensively under MNH for an average of four years, honing vocals, dance, and group synergy through structured programs tailored to high-energy performances.[11] Leader Jaeyun, who was raised in New Zealand and is fluent in English, brought prior exposure from participating in survival programs such as Mnet's Boys24 in 2016 and JTBC's MIXNINE in 2017, where he showcased his dance abilities alongside other aspiring idols.[12] Other members contributed through group trainee activities, including hip-hop-influenced choreography videos that highlighted their synchronized movements and charisma.[13] Throughout 2022, MNH released a series of teasers to engage fans, starting with introductory posts in the first half of the year and escalating to individual and group profile photos in December, which revealed the members' youthful and energetic visuals.[14] These efforts culminated in the late 2022 announcement of the group's official name, 8Turn—symbolizing the "turn of eight" with infinite potential like the infinity loop—and their impending debut in early 2023.[15]2023: Debut and initial releases
8Turn officially debuted on January 30, 2023, releasing their first mini-album 8TURNRISE along with the music video for the title track "TIC TAC." The digital version launched at midnight KST, while physical copies became available on February 6, 2023. The album's five tracks, including "WE," "WONDER," "Say My Name," and "Heartache," showcased the group's high-energy hip-hop and electronic influences, marking their entry as rookies under MNH Entertainment. The debut was preceded by teasers that built anticipation among fans.[14][16] The group held their debut showcase at Ilchi Art Hall in Seoul on the same day, performing selections from 8TURNRISE live for the first time and introducing their dynamic stage presence. Promotional activities followed, including appearances on major music programs such as M Countdown, where they performed "TIC TAC" in their hot debut stage. 8TURNRISE achieved initial commercial success for a rookie group, selling over 15,576 copies in its first week on the Hanteo Chart and entering the Circle Album Chart (formerly Gaon Album Chart) with first-month sales of 19,814 units. Early reception praised the album's bold sound and the members' synchronized choreography, positioning 8Turn as a promising addition to the K-pop scene.[17][18][19][20] On June 26, 2023, 8Turn returned with their second mini-album Uncharted Drift, led by the title track "EXCEL." The five-track release, featuring "WORLD," "WALK IT OUT," "SKETCH," and "ING," adopted a concept centered on exploration and venturing into unknown territories, symbolized through adventurous imagery in teasers and concept photos. The group promoted the album on music shows, including Music Bank and M Countdown, highlighting "EXCEL"'s fast-paced rhythm and intense dance breaks. Follow-up promotions included the B-side "SKETCH." Uncharted Drift continued their momentum, recording 44,629 first-week sales on Hanteo and 48,683 units in the first month on Circle Chart.[21][22][23][18][19] Throughout 2023, 8Turn engaged in fan sign events and rookie showcases to connect with supporters, fostering steady growth in their early fanbase. On April 27, 2023, the official fandom name "TURNING" was announced, representing the enduring partnership between the group and fans on their shared path forward. These activities, combined with live performances at events like KCON LA in August, helped solidify their presence among rookie acts.[24][25]2024: Stunning and rising popularity
In early 2024, 8TURN released their third mini-album STUNNING on January 9, marking their first project since the previous year's Uncharted Drift and building on the momentum from their 2023 debut.[26] The album's lead single, "RU-PUM PUM," featured an upbeat hip-hop influenced track with swaggering verses and a bold, confident theme, paired with dynamic choreography that highlighted the group's synchronized movements and stage presence through official dance practice videos.[27] STUNNING achieved notable commercial success as 8TURN's first release to exceed 50,000 physical copies sold in its initial week, signaling growing domestic interest.[28] Throughout the year, 8TURN's visibility surged through high-profile performances and media exposure. They debuted "RU-PUM PUM" at events like the Hanteo Music Awards in February, where a special choreography version underscored their performance prowess, and later showcased it at summer festivals such as K-POP Super Live in July.[29] By late 2024, the group appeared at year-end gatherings including the 30th Dream Concert in October and the Asia Song Festival in November, delivering energetic sets that included medleys of their hits.[30] Streaming metrics reflected this rise, with the "RU-PUM PUM" music video amassing over 11 million views on YouTube and the track garnering more than 2 million Spotify streams, contributing to 8TURN's entry on charts like Soompi's K-Pop Music Chart at No. 24 in January.[31][32][33] A pivotal boost came from their participation in Mnet's competitive survival program Road to Kingdom: Ace of Ace, which aired from September to November and featured 8TURN among seven boy groups vying for the top spot. The group delivered standout stages, including a hip-hop track "SPEED RUN" in the finale, earning praise for their innovative concepts and ambition to challenge norms, though they did not claim the win.[34] Media coverage amplified their profile, with features in outlets like Korea JoongAng Daily highlighting their evolving "stunning" aesthetic and confidence-themed music, and an international spotlight in Rolling Stone India portraying them as an emerging K-pop force.[26][35] Domestically, 8TURN's fanbase expanded significantly, with their official fandom name "TURNING"—symbolizing fans' enduring support—gaining traction amid sold-out fan events and increased social media engagement.[36] Early international hints emerged through a Japanese version of "RU-PUM PUM" released on March 6, marking their market debut in Japan and attracting attention from global audiences via platforms like Spotify's international playlists.[37]2025: Single albums and global expansion
In early 2025, 8Turn marked a significant step in their discography with the release of their first single album, LEGGO, on March 4. The album featured two tracks: the title song "Leggo," an energetic hip-hop infused dance track emphasizing themes of liberation and forward momentum, and the B-side "I Want You Now," a more introspective R&B-leaning piece exploring desire and immediacy. Promotional efforts included teaser image and video releases starting February 10, followed by performances on major South Korean music programs such as M Countdown and Music Bank, where the group showcased live vocals and synchronized choreography to build anticipation among fans.[38] Building on the momentum from LEGGO, 8Turn announced their debut world tour, 8TURN 1st World Tour [8TURNRISE], on September 13, 2024, with the North American leg kicking off on April 9 in New York City at The Town Hall and spanning 12 cities including Chicago, Atlanta, Los Angeles, and San Francisco through May. The European portion followed in June and July, featuring stops in Helsinki, Warsaw, Berlin, Cologne, Paris, London, and Amsterdam, allowing the group to connect with international audiences through high-energy sets blending their signature electronic pop and hip-hop elements.[39][40][41] The tour's execution highlighted 8Turn's growing stage presence, with sold-out shows in several venues and fan interactions that fostered a sense of global community among supporters known as TURNING.[42] Later in the year, on August 21, 8Turn released their second single album, Electric Heart: Born to Glow, delving into motifs of inner radiance and emotional vulnerability through synth-pop arrangements. The title track "Electric Heart" delivered upbeat rhythms and ethereal melodies, while the B-side "Close to Me" offered a deeper, more emotive contrast with its focus on intimacy and longing.[43][44] This release continued the group's promotional pattern with music show appearances and digital content drops, achieving notable visibility on platforms like Soompi's K-Pop Music Chart, where "Electric Heart" debuted at No. 22 in late August.[45] These activities underscored 8Turn's pivot toward international markets, evidenced by expanded media exposure in outlets like NME, which covered the tour announcement, and exclusive interviews discussing their global aspirations and stylistic evolution.[39][46] While specific collaborations remained limited, the tour and releases amplified their presence on streaming services worldwide, contributing to broader recognition beyond South Korea. In November 2025, 8Turn performed at the KBS K-POP World Festival in Changwon, further engaging international fans.[47][48]Members
Current members
8Turn consists of eight members, each contributing to the group's balanced lineup of vocal, rap, and dance roles. The members were formed under MNH Entertainment during the pre-debut phase, with positions reflecting their strengths in performance dynamics, where vocalists and rappers alternate to create high-energy tracks, dancers handle intricate choreography, and the leader coordinates group synergy.[49] Myungho (born Ji Myung-ho on October 12, 2001) serves as the main vocalist and main dancer. At 24 years old as of 2025, he is Korean and stands at 177 cm tall. Myungho joined MNH Entertainment as a trainee, though specific duration details are not publicly detailed beyond general pre-debut preparation. His unique traits include proficiency in taekwondo and jumping rope, which enhance his agile dance style, and he was inspired to pursue music after performing at a school festival.[49][4] Jaeyun (born Moon Jae-yun, also known as Alex Moon, on July 2, 2002) is the leader, main dancer, and lead vocalist. Aged 23 in 2025, he holds Korean-New Zealander nationality due to his Korean father and New Zealander mother, and he is 178 cm tall. Jaeyun trained for about a year at Liveworks Company from 2017 to 2018 before joining MNH, contributing to his versatile performance skills. His specialties include dancing, swimming, and golf, and his multicultural background adds a global flair to the group's dynamics as the eldest hyung figure guiding the team.[49][50][51] Minho (born Yang Min-ho on October 14, 2002) acts as a vocalist. He is 23 years old in 2025, Korean, and measures 179 cm. Training details under MNH are not specified, but he is known as the group's "mom" for his caring nature toward members. Minho's contributions to vocals provide emotional depth, supporting the team's harmonious stage presence.[49][4] Yoonsung (born Cho Yoon-sung on November 13, 2003) is a vocalist. At 22 years old in 2025, he is Korean and 177 cm tall. His pre-debut training at MNH focused on vocals, with no exact period disclosed. Yoonsung's specialties include replicating girl group dances, photography, and makeup application, and he served as student council president in high school, showcasing leadership that complements the group's energetic performances.[49][4] Haemin (born Jung Hae-min on March 16, 2004) functions as a vocalist. He is 21 years old in 2025, Korean, and the tallest at 184 cm. Haemin's training period under MNH is not detailed publicly, but his athletic background includes competitions in handball, swimming, and taekwondo, as well as a passion for football, which bolsters his stamina in performances and adds physical prowess to the vocal lineup.[49][4] Kyungmin (born Cho Kyung-min on October 28, 2004) is a sub-vocalist. Aged 21 in 2025, he is Korean and 185 cm tall. Kyungmin trained for approximately two years prior to appearing on the survival show I-LAND in 2020, where he gained visibility before joining MNH for 8Turn's formation. His role in vocals provides transitional dynamics in songs, and his experience from I-LAND enhances the group's competitive edge.[52][53] Yungyu (born Lee Yung-yu, also known as Derek Lee, on September 7, 2005) is a rapper. He is 20 years old in 2025, Korean, and 175 cm tall. Specific training duration at MNH is unavailable, but he has overcome a vocal cord nodule diagnosis early in his career. Yungyu's specialties in lyric writing and rapping drive the group's hip-hop elements, contributing raw energy to the rap hierarchy alongside other members.[54][55][4] Seungheon (born Lee Seung-heon on May 15, 2007) serves as rapper and maknae. At 18 years old in 2025, he is Korean and 171 cm tall. His training under MNH since a young age prepared him for debut, though exact years are not specified. Seungheon's youthful vocals and involvement in lyric writing add fresh perspectives to the group dynamics, balancing the lineup as the youngest member who often brings levity to interactions.[56][57][4]Former members
As of November 2025, 8Turn has no former members, with the group maintaining its original eight-member lineup intact since debuting on January 30, 2023.[7][58] This roster stability reflects MNH Entertainment's rigorous trainee selection approach, which involved a global online audition from June 11 to July 11, 2021, specifically designed to form the agency's inaugural boy group through a multi-stage evaluation of applicants worldwide.[59]Artistry
Musical style and influences
8Turn's music is characterized by a dynamic fusion of hip-hop, pop, and electronic dance music (EDM), often incorporating hard rock elements to create high-energy tracks that emphasize rhythmic intensity and vocal versatility. Their debut mini-album 8TurnRise (2023) exemplifies this blend through its hip-hop dance foundation laced with hard pop and Latin influences, delivering a sound that pulses with youthful vigor and rebellious spirit.[11][5] Tracks like "Excel" from their second mini-album Uncharted Drift (2023) further highlight this style, merging old-school hip-hop flows with rock-infused guitar riffs and aggressive beats to evoke a sense of unbridled momentum.[60] Thematically, 8Turn's discography shows a progression from the exuberant, youth-celebrating energy of their early releases to greater emotional introspection in later works. The 8TurnRise era captures the thrill of emerging adulthood, with motifs of breaking rules and embracing the unknown to symbolize personal growth and defiance.[20] In contrast, their 2025 single album Electric Heart: Born to Glow delves into deeper emotional layers, exploring themes of inner light amid darkness and the warmth of human connection through emotive pop arrangements and nuanced lyrics that reflect vulnerability and resilience.[61][62] Influences on 8Turn's sound draw from both K-pop前辈 and global artists, shaping their genre-blending approach. Members have cited senior acts like IU for her performance depth and emotional delivery, G-Dragon for innovative hip-hop experimentation, BTS's V for vocal expressiveness, and EXO's Baekhyun for charismatic stage presence.[38][63][64] Additionally, R&B and alternative influences from artists such as Keshi, d4vd, and Kali Uchis inspire their melodic explorations and genre fluidity.[38] This evolution underscores 8Turn's commitment to versatility, eschewing fixed concepts in favor of diverse sonic palettes across albums—from cinematic intensity to nostalgic throwbacks—allowing them to adapt and innovate without rigid stylistic boundaries.[65][66][67]Performance and choreography
8TURN's performances are characterized by highly synchronized choreography that emphasizes precision and energy, tailored specifically to the demands of their title tracks. The group's routines often feature dynamic formations and intricate footwork, as seen in their debut track "TIC TAC," where sharp, rhythmic movements create a sense of urgency and power, reflecting the song's ticking-clock motif.[68] This synchronization is a core trademark of their stage presence, allowing the eight members to execute complex sequences seamlessly while maintaining visual impact.[69] Leader Jaeyun plays a pivotal role in coordinating the group's performances, drawing on his experience as the main dancer to integrate member input into choreography and overall execution. As the group's anchor, he has contributed to refining their stage dynamics, including participation in creating routines for releases like "RU-PUM PUM," ensuring the performances align with their authentic style.[12] 8TURN has built a reputation for delivering live vocals during music show appearances, such as on SBS MTV's "The Show" and KBS's "Music Bank," where their stable singing complements the high-energy dances without relying on backing tracks.[70][71] The members' rigorous training under MNH Entertainment, which began as pre-debut trainees in the "Boys of MNH" project, has equipped them to handle demanding choreography with confidence, evolving from initial anxieties to polished live executions.[68] For tours, they adapt by focusing on endurance across full setlists, incorporating camera work and varied song arrangements to sustain intensity, while elements like pre-show rituals foster team unity.[46] Fan interaction is woven into their shows through direct engagement, such as personalized messages and surprise segments, deepening connections during global outings.[12] A distinctive aspect of 8TURN's appeal is their natural charisma, often described by members as "rizz" stemming from authenticity and self-assurance, which shines through in interviews and enhances their visual and emotional delivery on stage.[69] This confidence, honed through consistent practice, allows them to convey genuine energy, making their performances both captivating and relatable.Discography
Extended plays
8Turn debuted with their first extended play, 8TURNRISE, released on January 30, 2023, by MNH Entertainment.[72] The EP features five tracks, with "TIC TAC" serving as the title track, characterized by its energetic hip-hop production.[73] Notable B-sides include "WONDER," which highlights the group's vocal harmonies, and "Say My Name," co-written by producers such as AVENUE 52 and Choi Bo Ra.[73] The album peaked at number 13 on the Circle Album Chart and sold 46,794 copies in South Korea according to Circle Chart data.[19][74]| No. | Title | Length |

Single albums
In 2025, 8Turn transitioned to releasing single albums, a strategic shift from their earlier extended plays to enable quicker content drops and better align with international fan engagement through more frequent, focused promotions. This format allowed the group to maintain momentum amid global expansion efforts, emphasizing bilingual packaging and digital accessibility alongside physical editions.[78] The group's debut single album, LEGGO, was released on March 4, 2025, in both digital and physical formats via MNH Entertainment.
