from Wikipedia

Boys24 (Korean소년24 'Sonyeon Ishipsa', stylized as BOYS24) was a South Korean pre-debut boy band formed by CJ E&M through a 2016 survival show with the same name.[1] There were twenty-seven members in the group divided into four units.[2] The group performed regular shows in their own concert hall, with the debut of the final eight members IN2IT[3] on October 26, 2017.[2][4][5]

Key Information

The first promotional unit (later dubbed Unit Black) who were selected from the 'BOYS24 The 1st Semi-Final' concert consists of Park Doha, Hwang Inho, Oh Jinseok, Kim Sunghyun, Kim Yonghyun, Jung Yeontae, Yoo Youngdoo and Han Hyunuk.[6][7][8][9] The unit release their first single album, Steal Your Heart on April 11, 2017 on Mnet's M! Countdown with the song title "Steal Your Heart".[10][11]

After completing 260 concerts,[3] the final group was selected from "The Final", consist of eight members: Yoo Youngdoo (Yoo Jiahn), Jeong Yeontae, Hwang Inho, Han Hyunuk, Isaac Voo, Lee Inpyo, Kim Jinsub and Kim Sunghyun. They debuted on October 26, 2017 as IN2IT.[12][unreliable source?]

History

[edit]

On January 10, 2016 CJ E&M announced that they were investing 25 billion won ($20.6 million) over the next three years in a new boy band to perform throughout the year at a permanent venue.[13] CJ E&M had named the boy band and project name "Boys24", to air the whole process from selecting members to performing in front of audiences.[14]

Concept of Boys24

[edit]

First, Ahn Seok-joon set the stage of 'Boys24' as four stages, the first being 'excavation'. Of the total of 5500 applicants, 49 were selected by Mnet.com as untreated gemstones. The second stage was 'competition'. The unfinished 49 people formed a total of seven unit teams, where they would vividly confirm their intense competition. The third stage was 'growth', a process of the birth of a 24-member Boys24, which would be confirmed in the theater. The final stage was 'evolution'. It could be said that they had evolved to become a crystal, and among the 24 people, a few select members who had the highest level in all aspects would make their debut as an idol group. They would enter the world of 'pro' and start full-scale activity.[15]

January 2016 – August 2017

[edit]

The auditions were held from January 18 to February 19. However, due to the large number of applicants, which was more than 4000, the final date of the audition was shifted to March 11.[16] Forty-nine participants who passed the audition competed in a survival show which began airing on 18 June 2016.[1]

After the survival show ended, twenty-eight people were selected as Boys24 members, and the group held their concert three to five days a week in rotation. The concert was set to take place at the Boys 24 X Booto Hall, also known as Mesa Hall, near Shinsegae's duty-free shop in Myeongdong, Seoul. The first concert was held on September 22, 2016.[17]

On August 25, 2016 the group made a special appearance at M! Countdown performing their song "Rising Star".[18][unreliable source?][19][unreliable source?] In September 2016, Yellow Unit from the group were chosen as the models for 새싹보리 a barley drink, sold by CJ Health Care.[20] On September 10, 2016, Unit Yellow and Unit Sky from the group held their first fan meeting in Hong Kong.[21] On September 27 and 28, 2016, the group held "Boys24 Live Preview" press call at their own hall to promote their own concert.[22]

On November 2, 2016, Unit Yellow's music video for "E" was released as an award for the unit for being MVP Unit.[23][unreliable source?] The track also released on music sites and charted No.1 on Mnet's music chart.[24] On November 3, 2016, Unit Yellow and Unit Sky made a special appearance at M! Countdown performing their song "E".[25][unreliable source?][26] A week later all units from the group made a special appearance again on M! Countdown performing "E".[27]

On December 1, 2016, the group announced that they would collaborate with DIA TV as part of Monthly Idol project broadcasting with various creators from DIA TV.[28] On December 7, 2016, the group released two versions of their first live album from their concert BOYS24 LIVE in CD format. The first version of the album was recorded by Unit White and Unit Green while the second version of the album was recorded by Unit Sky and Unit Yellow.[29]

On February 14, 2017, Lee Hwayoung was removed from the group and his contract was cancelled following his leaked audio controversy for making offensive comments about fans.[30][31]

On March 5, 2017, the group held 'BOYS24 The 1st Semi-Final' concert at the Hall of Peace at Kyung Hee University in Dongdaemun, Seoul.[32] The concert was broadcast live on Mnet and M2.[33] Through the concert Park Doha, Jin Sungho, Hwang Inho, Oh Jinseok, Kim Sunghyun, Kim Yonghyun, Jung Yeontae, Yoo Youngdoo and Han Hyunuk were selected to promote as promotional unit for three months.[6][7][8] The promotional unit would perform on KCON Japan, music programs, and entertainment shows.[34]

On March 10, 2017, CJ E&M and Liveworks announced that Jin Sungho to leave his position as part of the first promotional unit but still remain in the group following controversies about his past actions in junior high school. The first promotional unit would move forward as an eight-member group.[35][36]

On March 23, 2017, the group announced that the first promotional unit official name was Unit Black. The name was voted by fans through a team naming event that was announced on the group's official fan cafe.[9][37][38] On April 11, 2017, the unit released their first single album, Steal Your Heart on Mnet's M! Countdown with their song "Steal Your Heart".[10][unreliable source?][11]

On August 12, 2017, the group held 'BOYS24 The Final' concert at Olympic Park Olympic Hall, Seoul, marking the end of Boys24 survival project after 1 year and 6 months.[39] The concert was broadcast live through V Live.[40][41][42] Hwang Inho, Jung Yeontae, Kim Jinsub, Kim Sunghyun, Yoo Youngdoo, Isaac Voo, and Jin Sungho were announced as final group members by fans vote, while Lee Inpyo and Han Hyunuk were selected as Wild Card directly by company, completing final line-up as nine-member group.[41][42][43] The final group would start their overseas promotions right away, starting with visiting Japan on August 26 followed by Korea Tourism Organization invitation to Kazakhstan in September.[40][42]

On August 14, 2017, MMO Entertainment, who manage the debut team, announced that Jin Sungho to had left the team due to differing musical point of view.

Boys24 was a South Korean reality survival program and pre-debut boy group project initiated by CJ E&M in collaboration with Liveworks Company, which aired from June 18, 2016, to August 12, 2017, on and other channels to select young male trainees for an innovative and musical theater hybrid group. The project featured open auditions beginning January 18, 2016, attracting over 200 applicants per spot, including trainees from prominent agencies such as , , , , and , as well as international participants and those with backgrounds in musicals, theater, and film. With a total investment of 25 billion (approximately 20.5 million USD), the three-year initiative aimed to pioneer a new model of Hallyu culture through continuous 24/7 content and live performances. Out of 49 initial contestants divided into seven color-coded units, 24 members were initially chosen on August 6, 2016, via a voting system weighted 70% on input and 30% on expert evaluations, with Unit Red eliminated and Unit Yellow crowned MVP, earning 200 million won for an album production; the lineup was later expanded to 27 members with additional fan-voted additions. These 27 members proceeded to perform over 260 shows in a dedicated concert hall in , , starting September 22, 2016, blending , , and stage acting. From these, a final lineup of nine members—Hwang In-ho, Jeong Yeon-tae, Kim Jin-sub, Kim Sung-hyun, Yoo Ji-ahn (Young-doo), , Jin Sung-ho, Lee In-pyo, and Han Hyun-uk—was announced on August 12, 2017, to debut under the name IN2IT managed by MMO Entertainment, a partner entity; Jin Sung-ho departed before debut, resulting in an eight-member group. IN2IT officially debuted on October 26, 2017, with the mini-album and "Amazing," marking the culmination of the Boys24 project. In March 2018, Kim Jin-sub left due to health issues, reducing the group to seven members. The project also led to the formation of other groups from former members, such as DKB and . Following contract termination with MMO Entertainment in January 2020, IN2IT operated independently before rebranding as SKYE on March 16, 2023, to signify a fresh start combining "sky" and "emotion" in their music. As of November 2025, SKYE continues activities with six members—Yoo Ji-ahn, Jeong Yeon-tae, Hwang In-ho, , Lee In-pyo, and Han Hyun-uk—after Kim Sung-hyun's departure in 2019, releasing music and forming subunits like CoA.

Background and History

Concept and Formation

Boys24 was established by CJ E&M in collaboration with Liveworks Company in as a pioneering pre-debut project designed to cultivate talent through a flexible, rotational system. Unlike traditional idol formation models with fixed lineups, the centered on selecting 24 active members from an initial pool of 49 unsigned trainees to perform in rotating units, enabling ongoing adjustments based on fan feedback and performance evaluations during a year-long series of live concerts. This structure emphasized adaptability, with no predetermined debut date for a permanent subgroup; instead, popularity accumulated through regular engagements would determine final debuts. The project represented a significant by CJ E&M, totaling 25 billion won (approximately ) and developed over three years to expand K-pop's global reach, particularly in markets like , , and . It integrated broadcasting, live performances, and music production under Mnet's oversight, prioritizing unit-based teamwork over individual rankings to foster collaborative skills among participants. The survival show served as the primary selection mechanism, where trainees competed in missions to secure spots in the active roster. Recruitment began with open auditions attracting over 5,500 applicants worldwide, resulting in the selection of 49 diverse, agency-free contestants who were organized into seven color-coded units—such as Blue, Green, Purple, Red, Sky, White, and Yellow—to encourage varied performances and group dynamics from the outset. Unique elements included a focus on daily live stages in venues like concert halls, where rotating teams of 12 members each would alternate duties, blending training with real-time fan interaction to build sustained engagement.

Survival Show Overview

BOYS24 was a reality survival program broadcast on from June 18 to August 6, 2016, consisting of eight episodes that aired weekly at 11:30 p.m. KST. The show featured 49 male trainees, selected from over 5,500 applicants worldwide, competing through a series of performance missions to form the core membership of a rotational project. Unlike traditional survival shows that culminate in a fixed debut lineup, BOYS24 emphasized unit-based teamwork, with trainees divided into seven color-coded units (Yellow, Red, White, Green, Purple, Blue, and Sky) to foster collaborative skills in vocals, dance, and rap. Fan voting via the Mnet app and website determined rankings and eliminations after each round, ultimately selecting the top 24 trainees based on cumulative votes to serve as the initial pool for ongoing unit rotations without an immediate full-group debut. The program was hosted by actress , who guided the proceedings and interacted with contestants, while members and served as directors overseeing overall training and team dynamics. Specialized masters provided targeted instruction: Jeon Bong-jin for vocals, Ha Hwi-dong for dance, and Vasco for rap, with additional input from guests like and Yoo Jae-hwan during evaluations. Trainees underwent intensive preparation in a dormitory setting, focusing on skill development through daily classes and rehearsals led by these experts. The format prioritized performance versatility, requiring participants to adapt to group challenges that highlighted both individual talents and unit synergy. Episodes progressed through themed missions designed to simulate idol training and stage production. Early installments introduced the trainees via individual showcases and initial unit formations, followed by evaluations where units covered songs from established K-pop groups like and to assess synchronization and stage presence. Mid-season focused on missions, including original and theme-based performances, alongside revival matches for at-risk contestants to regain positions through special stages. The final episodes centered on high-stakes elimination rounds, culminating in the announcement of the top 24 on August 6, 2016, during a live finale event. These themes built progressively toward building performance-ready units, with eliminations reducing the pool from 49 to 28 units advancing before the final cut. Viewership ratings for BOYS24 remained modest throughout its run, averaging below 1% nationwide, with the highest recorded at 0.8% during key elimination episodes that drew heightened fan engagement through live voting. This contrasted with more popular contemporaries like Produce 101 Season 1, reflecting the show's niche focus on unit rotations rather than a singular debut narrative, though it still garnered dedicated online buzz for its innovative format.

Timeline of Activities (2016–2017)

Following the selection of the final 24 members from the survival show on August 6, 2016, Boys24 initiated their promotional activities with the opening of their official on August 16, 2016, named "24s" after a fan naming contest. This marked the beginning of structured fan engagement for the project group. On August 25, 2016, Boys24 made their television debut with a special stage performance of their digital single "Rising Star" on , showcasing the collective talents of the selected members ahead of their concert series. The performance highlighted the group's synchronized choreography and vocal dynamics, setting the stage for their live activities. The group's first live performances began with the BOYS24 LIVE concert series on September 22, 2016, held at the dedicated BOYS24 Hall in . Divided into four primary units—Green, Yellow, White, and Sky—the members rotated across configurations to deliver varied setlists, with the concerts running as an open-run production over the following year. Unit-based promotions intensified starting in October 2016, as the rotating unit system enabled ongoing live shows at BOYS24 Hall, emphasizing different member combinations and thematic performances to maintain freshness and highlight individual strengths. This approach allowed for over total concerts and stages throughout the project's duration, fostering a dynamic presentation style unique to the pre-debut format. In late 2016, the official "" fully launched, providing members with exclusive content, events, and voting opportunities to influence unit selections and performances. Holiday specials and year-end shows added festive elements to the schedule, including a event at BOYS24 Hall on December 17, 2016, featuring themed decorations and special stages. These culminated in the BOYS24 Awards 2016 in late December 2016, where units reflected on the year's achievements through recap performances and fan-voted recognitions, extending into January 2017 with continued holiday-themed concerts. The rotational unit structure, designed to accommodate scheduling and provide performance variety, occasionally led to temporary adjustments in lineup configurations to ensure continuity of shows. Activities reached their peak and conclusion with the final full-group event, BOYS24 The Final concert, held on August 12, 2017, at Olympic Hall in Seoul, where all remaining members performed together one last time before the project's wind-down. This event served as a comprehensive showcase of the group's evolution over the year.

Disbandment and Legacy

The Boys24 project officially concluded in late 2017 after its final performance on August 12 at in , where the 9 members for the debut subgroup were announced. Although the project featured several unit singles and promotional activities, no full-length album was released for the complete group, as efforts shifted toward individual and subgroup opportunities rather than a unified debut. Following the project's end, 9 members (later 8 after one departure) from the project debuted as the spin-off group IN2IT under MMO Entertainment on October 26, 2017, with the mini-album and lead single "Amazing." Other former contestants pursued diverse paths, including debuts in later groups such as in 2021, which included Boys24 participant Taedong, and in 2023, featuring Jaeyun (formerly Alex Moon). These outcomes highlighted the project's role in launching careers amid the competitive landscape. Boys24 contributed to the popularization of fan-voted pre-debut systems in , emphasizing audience participation in member selection and unit rotations during its 260 concert performances, which set a for interactive formats. Its unit-based structure, where different combinations of members performed regularly, pioneered elements of rotational grouping later seen in projects like LOONA's staggered member releases. In a notable 2025 development, former contestant Cherry (Chae Ryujin) publicly came out as a transgender woman during an Instagram Live on July 19, stating, "This isn't a hobby, it's my life," receiving widespread support and advancing LGBTQ+ visibility within the industry.

Members

Final Debut Lineup

The survival show selected 24 members on August 6, 2016, through fan voting and judge evaluations, with the lineup expanding to 27 after two early departures and five resurrections via post-show fan voting. These members were primarily South Korean, except for one Malaysian participant, and were chosen for their vocal, rap, dance, and overall stage presence, emphasizing versatility to allow for flexible unit rotations during the project's concert series starting in September 2016. The average age of the lineup at the time of initial selection in August 2016 was approximately 21 years, reflecting a mix of experienced trainees and younger talents born between 1992 and 2001. Following the survival show's conclusion and subsequent adjustments, the 27 members were divided into four primary units—Green, Yellow, White, and —for initial promotional activities, including competitive and fan engagements that highlighted through themed concepts and collaborative stages. This structure fostered internal competition while promoting cohesion, with units rotating members periodically to showcase diverse talents and adapt to different musical styles. Leadership positions were determined by rankings, ensuring high-voted members like unit leaders influenced creative decisions and team morale. The members' positions were categorized as leaders, main vocalists, lead vocalists, main rappers, lead rappers, lead dancers, and all-rounders, based on their demonstrated skills during the show. This lineup underscored Boys24's innovative approach to idol group formation, prioritizing rotational dynamics to maintain freshness in performances while building a large pool of talents for sustained activities.

Unit Divisions and Promotional Roles

The 27 members were organized into four color-coded units—Green, Yellow, White, and Sky—each consisting of six or seven members to facilitate collaborative performances and skill development in areas such as vocals, , and rap. These units debuted their live shows in September 2016 at the Boys24 X Booto Hall in , performing a of three to five days per week until August 2017, which enabled members to rotate and participate in joint activities across units for broader exposure. Promotional roles were handled through unit-specific releases and a dedicated subunit. Unit Yellow released the digital single "E" on November 2, 2016, featuring a science-fiction that highlighted the members' synchronized and charisma. In March 2017, Unit Black was formed as the first official promotional subunit with eight members drawn from the main units—Park Doha, Yoo Youngdoo, Jung Yeontae, Han Hyunuk, Oh Jinseok, Kim Sunghyun, Kim Yonghyun, and Hwang Inho—to focus on music promotions and media engagements; they debuted with the single "Steal Your Heart" on April 11, 2017, emphasizing catchy hooks and group harmony. Each unit appointed leaders to oversee rehearsals and stage presence, such as Lee Inpyo for Unit Green and Kim Yonghyun for Unit Sky in the initial lineup. Temporary subunits were created for special events, including collab lineups in late 2016 that swapped members between units for innovative performances. In March 2017, the structure evolved with the introduction of new units—, , , and —to adapt to the final selection phase, promoting refreshed collaborations and preparing members for the project's culmination in the debut of IN2IT.

Former and Eliminated Members

During the Boys24 survival show, which aired from June to August 2016, 49 trainees competed through unit-based missions, performances, and fan voting, resulting in 25 eliminations across multiple episodes to narrow down to the final 24 members. Eliminations were primarily determined by low rankings in evaluation rounds, such as vocal, dance, and overall appeal assessments by judges and viewers. For example, after Episode 3, seven trainees were cut following initial unit evaluations: Jung Gi-seok, Yang Hee-chan, Park Yun-sol, Shin Kyung-hyun, Shin Jin-kyu, Kim Soo-han, and Lee Kwang-hyun. Subsequent rounds saw further cuts, including Kim Tae-dong, Kim Tae-yeon, and Yoon Jong-hyuk in Episode 5 due to underwhelming mission performances, and David Shin, Park Woo-nyoung, Namgoong Woon, Lee In-soo, and Park Jun-seo in Episode 6 based on fan vote tallies. In the finale (Episode 8), Alex Moon was eliminated despite strong showings in prior stages. These eliminations highlighted the competitive nature of the program, with trainees often citing insufficient votes or skill gaps as factors in their exits. Post-formation, the project faced additional departures among the selected members by the end of 2017. Shortly after the finale in August 2016, Kim Sang-min withdrew due to health reasons and Lee Hwa-young was removed on February 14, 2017, after a leaked audio revealed offensive comments about fans, leading to contract termination and public backlash; this prompted the resurrection of five previously eliminated trainees—Jeong Yeon-tae, Jin Seong-ho, Han Hyun-uk, Kim Seong-hyun, and Tak Jin-gyu—via online fan voting, bringing the total to 27. Later, Oh Jin-seok dropped out in July 2017 ahead of the finals but participated in final concerts before leaving, citing personal decisions, and Jin Sungho, selected for the debut subunit IN2IT, left on August 15, 2017, due to differing views on musical direction with the agency. These departures, often linked to health, controversies, or creative mismatches, required rotations in promotional units like Unit Black and Unit Indigo to maintain balance. Many eliminated trainees from the show transitioned to pre-debut status under other agencies, leveraging their exposure to join subsequent programs or form new groups, though specific paths varied by individual circumstances.

Membership Timeline

The Boys24 project began with the selection of 49 trainees through auditions announced in early 2016, with the full lineup revealed progressively from May 19 to May 25, 2016. The show aired from June 18 to August 6, 2016, during which eliminations progressively reduced the pool to 24 members by the finale. Following the show's conclusion on August 6, 2016, two members departed: Kim Sang-min due to health issues and Lee Hwa-young after expulsion for inappropriate conduct toward fans. On August 10–15, 2016, fan voting led to the resurrection and rejoining of five eliminated contestants—Jeong Yeon-tae, Jin Seong-ho, Han Hyun-uk, Kim Seong-hyun, and Tak Jin-gyu—bringing the active membership to 27. Concert activities commenced on September 22, 2016, in , , with this lineup divided into four rotating units (Yellow, White, Green, and Sky) for performances. Unit assignments were restructured three times during the project's run to refresh dynamics and promotional roles, with the first shuffle occurring shortly after the initial formation in late August 2016, followed by additional rotations in early 2017 and post semi-finals in March 2017. These changes involved member swaps across units, such as transfers between Unit Green and Unit Yellow (e.g., Jin Seong-ho and Jung Min-hwan to Yellow, Jeong Yeon-tae and Oh Jin-seok to Green), ensuring approximately 30% of the lineup experienced rotations over the active period from September 2016 to August 2017. By mid-2017, further reductions occurred ahead of the debut selection process, including the withdrawal of Jin Seong-ho on August 14, 2017, due to personal reasons. On August 12, 2017, the final evaluation narrowed the group to nine members for debut as IN2IT, marking the effective end of the Boys24 lineup after 260 concerts.
  • May–June 2016: 49 trainees join via auditions and survival show start.
  • August 6, 2016: 24 members remain post-finale eliminations.
  • August 2016: Two departures; five resurrections, totaling 27 members.
  • September 22, 2016: Activities begin with initial unit divisions.
  • Late 2016–March 2017: Three unit shuffles with member rotations.
  • August 12–14, 2017: Final reductions to nine, with one withdrawal.

Music Career

Discography Overview

Boys24's discography reflects its pre-debut status as a project group under CJ E&M, emphasizing unit-based promotions to showcase individual member talents and rotating lineups rather than full-group cohesion. The strategy prioritized digital singles and unit-specific tracks tied to the survival show's narrative, allowing for flexible promotions across four primary units (, , , and ) and one promotional unit (). This approach resulted in a limited output of four key single releases and one live by 2017, with no studio from the full ensemble ever produced. The group's music spanned with prominent EDM and hip-hop elements, customized to each unit's concept—such as electronic synth-driven tracks for Unit Yellow's "" and hip-hop-infused rhythms in Unit Black's "Steal Your Heart." Initial releases like the digital single "Rising Star" in June 2016 served as an introductory anthem for the , followed by the digital compilation "BOYS24 FINAL STAGE" in August 2016 featuring unit originals like "YOLO!" and "." The November 2016 digital single "" featured a version by Unit Yellow and a full-group version by all 28 members, while the December 2016 live album "BOYS24 Live" (released in two versions covering different unit performances) captured concert highlights. The sole physical , Unit Black's "Steal Your Heart" in April 2017, marked the project's commercial peak. Commercially, Boys24's output achieved modest success given its experimental pre-debut , with physical remaining under 25,000 units per release due to limited distribution and fanbase development. "Steal Your Heart" sold 21,481 copies in the first half of . Key digital tracks like "Rising Star" and "E" garnered visibility through music show performances but did not secure prominent positions on the Gaon Digital , typically staying outside the top 50. The project had planned a full-group debut to transition from units to a permanent lineup, but this never materialized following the disbandment.

Studio and Live Albums

Boys24, as a pre-debut project, released a limited number of studio and live albums during its active period from 2016 to 2017, primarily through CJ E&M and . These releases focused on unit-based performances from the survival show, with no full-length studio album ever produced. The albums were available in digital formats via platforms like and limited physical CD editions sold at concerts and online retailers such as . The group's first major release was the compilation single album BOYS24 Final Stage, issued on August 7, 2016, to coincide with the survival show's finale. This album featured one representative track from each of the five main units (Yellow, Sky, Green, White, and Red), totaling five songs with a runtime of approximately 16 minutes. Produced by a team including composers like and international contributors such as Jonas Mengler, the tracks emphasized upbeat pop and dance styles tailored to the units' themes. Notably, "Candy Shop" was a re-recorded version from the Green Unit's earlier performance. No guest features were included. For live releases, Boys24 issued two versions of the live album BOYS24 Live on December 7, 2016, capturing audio from the group's inaugural concert series that began in September 2016. These event-exclusive CDs, with additional distribution in 2017, featured over 10 tracks each, drawn from 15 total concert songs including originals like "Rising Star" and "E." Version 1 highlighted Units Green and White, while Version 2 covered Units Yellow and Sky; both emphasized raw performance energy without studio overdubs. Representative tracks from Version 1 include "Candy Shop" (Green), "Time Leap" (White), "Champ," "One Day (하루)," and "NMDR." Version 2 included "YOLO!" (Yellow), "Bop" (Sky), "Game Boy," "Tomorrow," and "E." The albums were limited to physical formats for fans at live events, underscoring the project's emphasis on stage presence over polished recordings.

Other Activities

Endorsements and Sponsorships

Boys24, as a pre-debut project under CJ E&M, secured limited commercial partnerships, primarily through internal affiliations within the company. The group participated in promotions for Mnet shows, including special stage performances on M COUNTDOWN, which helped showcase their units to a broader audience. Promotional units like Unit Black engaged in music releases and live events tied to CJ E&M's ecosystem, such as album production and broadcasting, but external brand deals were minimal due to their pre-debut status. Revenue from these activities was largely linked to concert ticket sales and digital music distribution rather than sponsorship revenues. Unit-specific collaborations were scarce, with no verified dancewear brand endorsements for the Pink Unit, though the project's focus on performance units occasionally featured themed apparel in official merchandise lines released in 2017. Overall, these internal promotions boosted visibility within the ecosystem but did not extend to major external campaigns.

Individual Member Developments Post-2017

Following the conclusion of the Boys24 project in 2017, several members pursued careers in spin-off groups formed from the survival show's participants. IN2IT, consisting of eight members selected from the final lineup—Yoo Jiahn, Jeong Yeontae, Hwang Inho, Han Hyunwook, Isaac Voo, Lee Inpyo, Jin Seop, and Kim Sunghyun—debuted on October 26, 2017, under MMO Entertainment with the mini-album .) The group released subsequent albums and performed extensively before becoming independent in February 2020 after terminating their contract with the agency due to management disputes. IN2IT continued activities as an independent unit until March 2023, when they rebranded as SKYE, maintaining a core lineup of six members and focusing on live performances and new music releases. In 2025, SKYE held fanmeetings including 'THE SPRING SKYE' on May 24 and a White Day event 'CANDY DATE', along with international meet-and-greets and virtual video call events, continuing to engage fans. Another notable spin-off was , an eight-member boy group under that debuted on January 30, 2023, with the mini-album 8TURNRISE. Following the disbandment of her group JWiiver in 2024, Cherry shifted to independent activities as an influencer, sharing vlogs and cover songs on while expressing renewed focus on personal fulfillment in her music career. Other former members ventured into and production; for instance, Kim Sunghyun, who left IN2IT in 2019 amid contract issues, signed an exclusive contract with Black Hole Man Entertainment in 2021 and has since pursued roles in dramas. Similarly, Jin Sungho (BC), who withdrew from the Boys24 project before IN2IT's debut and later joined (disbanded 2022), has maintained connections within the industry. Connections among former Boys24 members persisted through informal reunions and shared professional networks, though no official group revival occurred by 2025. Members of the rebranded SKYE continued to reference their Boys24 roots in fan interactions, and scattered online meetups, such as virtual fan events during the 2020 pandemic, allowed some alumni to reconnect with supporters. These developments highlighted the project's lasting influence on individual trajectories while underscoring the challenges of sustaining group cohesion post-2017.

Awards and Nominations

Boys24 received limited formal recognition during their brief active period from 2016 to 2017, primarily stemming from their show rather than traditional industry awards. The group did not secure any major wins at prominent ceremonies, reflecting their short lifespan and project-based structure. However, internal accolades from the BOYS24 program highlighted standout performances, with Unit Yellow crowned as the MVP team in August 2016, awarded 200 million KRW (approximately $179,000 USD) to fund album production.
