Early life
Bryan Lasme was born on November 14, 1998, in Montauban, a town in the Tarn-et-Garonne department of southwestern France.[1][4] He holds dual citizenship in France and Côte d'Ivoire, reflecting his family's Ivorian heritage.[1] Little is publicly documented about his family background or specific early childhood experiences prior to his involvement in organized sports.Youth career
Bryan Lasme began his organized youth football career at the age of eight, joining the local club JE Montalbanais in 2006.[1] The following year, in 2007, he transferred to Montauban FC, where he developed through the club's age-group teams, participating in regional youth competitions until 2014.[7] In 2014, at age 15, Lasme was scouted and joined the renowned academy of FC Sochaux-Montbéliard, known as the Lionceaux, marking a significant milestone in his progression toward professional football.[8][1] At Sochaux, he followed the club's structured pathway for elite prospects, beginning with convention status before advancing to stagiaire (trainee) in 2015.[8] Lasme primarily featured for the U17 team in the honor division during the 2014–2015 season, scoring 15 goals, then progressed to the U19 level from 2015 to 2017, honing his abilities as a forward in competitive youth matches.[8] During his academy years at Sochaux, Lasme benefited from the club's emphasis on physical conditioning and technical training, which helped build his 1.94-meter frame into a powerful presence on the pitch, preparing him for senior-level demands.[1]Club career
Sochaux
Bryan Lasme signed his first professional contract with FC Sochaux-Montbéliard in January 2017, at the age of 18.[9] He made his professional debut for the club on 20 January 2017, entering as a substitute in a 3–3 Ligue 2 home draw against Clermont Foot.[10] In the 2017–2018 Ligue 2 season, Lasme received limited first-team opportunities as a prospect, appearing in 9 matches for a total of 179 minutes and scoring his first professional goal on 15 December 2017 in a 2–0 away victory over Clermont Foot, where he came off the bench and netted the second goal.[11] Following a loan to SO Cholet in the National division for the 2018–2019 season to further his development, Lasme returned to Sochaux and earned more regular playing time in the 2019–2020 Ligue 2 campaign.[12] He featured in 15 matches, accumulating 531 minutes and scoring 3 goals, including a notable strike in a 3–0 home win over Nancy on 23 August 2019 and another in the Coupe de la Ligue against Paris FC on 13 August 2019, with one of his goals voted the best of the season by Ligue 2 observers.[13][12] As Sochaux fought to avoid relegation—ultimately finishing 16th and securing survival amid the season's COVID-19 disruptions—Lasme extended his contract on 13 October 2020 until June 2022, reflecting the club's confidence in his growth as a versatile forward.[12]Loan to Cholet
On 31 August 2018, Bryan Lasme was loaned to SO Cholet from FC Sochaux-Montbéliard until 30 June 2019. During the 2018–19 season in the Championnat National, Lasme featured regularly as part of the squad, making 17 appearances across league and cup competitions, with 9 starts and 671 minutes played.[14] He did not score any goals or record assists during his time at the third-tier club.Arminia Bielefeld
On 1 July 2021, Bryan Lasme transferred from FC Sochaux-Montbéliard to Arminia Bielefeld for a fee of €800,000, signing a contract until June 2025.[15][16] The move marked his first experience abroad, bringing his Ligue 2 background to the Bundesliga as a promising centre-forward.[17] In the 2021–22 Bundesliga season, Lasme made 23 appearances, including seven starts, and scored two goals while providing no assists, contributing to Bielefeld's efforts amid their relegation battle.[18] His first Bundesliga goal came on 4 December 2021 against 1. FC Köln in a 1–1 home draw, and he added an equalizer against SC Freiburg on 8 January 2022 in a 2–2 away draw, though the team ultimately finished 17th and were relegated to the 2. Bundesliga.[18][19] Lasme's role expanded in the 2022–23 2. Bundesliga season, where he recorded seven goals and three assists across his appearances, helping to bolster the attack during a challenging campaign.[18] Despite his contributions, Bielefeld finished 16th and suffered consecutive relegations after losing the promotion/relegation playoff to SV Wehen Wiesbaden.[20] His improved output reflected a stronger adaptation to the physical intensity and tactical discipline of German football, building on his prior experience in France.[18] Lasme departed Bielefeld as a free agent in June 2023, prior to the expiry of his contract, following the club's drop to the 3. Liga.[21]Schalke 04
Bryan Lasme joined FC Schalke 04 on a free transfer from Arminia Bielefeld on July 1, 2023, signing a four-year contract that runs until June 30, 2027.[21] During his debut season with the club in 2023-2024, Lasme established himself as a regular squad member in the 2. Bundesliga, making 27 league appearances where he scored 4 goals and provided 1 assist, contributing to the team's efforts to stabilize and compete in the second tier.[22][4] His energetic playing style and versatility as a forward helped bolster Schalke's attacking options amid a challenging campaign that saw the team finish 11th in the league standings. In the opening matches of the 2024-2025 season, Lasme made 6 substitute appearances for Schalke, accumulating 65 minutes without scoring, as he worked to regain match fitness and integrate further into the squad before departing on loan in January 2025.[23] Upon returning from his loan spell at Grasshopper Club Zürich in July 2025, Lasme was quickly reintegrated into the first team under manager Thomas Letsch, featuring prominently in preseason preparations and early competitive fixtures.[24] By November 2025, he had recorded 8 appearances and 1 goal in the 2. Bundesliga for the 2025-2026 season, including a notable strike that highlighted his growing influence in the forward line.[25] Lasme's tenure at Schalke has been marked by occasional injury setbacks, including a muscle injury sustained in mid-October 2025 that sidelined him and is expected to see him return around mid-November.[6] Despite these interruptions, his pace and work rate have positively impacted team dynamics, providing depth and competition in the attacking positions while earning appreciation from fans for his commitment, as evidenced by his post-match comments praising the supportive atmosphere at Veltins-Arena.[26]Loan to Grasshopper
On January 14, 2025, Bryan Lasme joined Grasshopper Club Zürich on loan from Schalke 04 until the end of the 2024–25 Swiss Super League season, with the move aimed at providing the forward with increased playing opportunities to aid his development.[27][24] Schalke's director of professional football, Youri Mulder, emphasized the collaborative search for a suitable placement, stating, "We searched for the appropriate move together with Bryan and are pleased that he’s now going to play for Grasshopper Club Zurich."[27] Lasme made his debut for Grasshopper on January 18, 2025, as a substitute in a 0–1 away win against FC Sion, where he played 45 minutes without scoring or assisting.[10] Over the course of the loan, he appeared in four matches as a squad player, accumulating limited minutes primarily off the bench, and contributed no goals or assists in the second half of the season.[28] His role was that of a rotational forward, often utilized in a supporting capacity behind the starting attackers in Grasshopper's tactical setup. Lasme faced challenges during the loan, including adaptation to the faster-paced and more physical style of the Swiss Super League compared to the German 2. Bundesliga, as well as persistent injury issues that restricted his availability.[29] He suffered a setback during the March international break, missing several fixtures and further limiting his integration into the squad.[29] Despite these hurdles, Lasme provided physical presence in limited appearances, occasionally contributing to build-up play through his height and hold-up ability. The loan concluded on June 30, 2025, with Lasme returning to Schalke 04, where his contract remained valid until 2027; no option to buy was included in the agreement, and evaluations focused on his development rather than a permanent transfer.[27][3]International career
Youth international career
Lasme earned his sole youth international call-up to the France under-20 national team for the 2018 Maurice Revello Tournament, a prestigious annual youth competition held in the Bouches-du-Rhône department of France from 26 May to 9 June 2018.[30][31] At age 19, Lasme featured in three matches for the squad, appearing as a substitute in two and starting one.[32] He scored his only youth international goal in the group's second match, a 2–0 victory over Togo on 2 June, finishing a collective move with a powerful shot in the 39th minute to secure the win alongside Ludovic Blas's earlier strike.[33] France's tournament campaign included a 4–1 opening win against South Korea (goals from Steve Ambri, Jordan Tell twice, and Wilfried Kanga), a 1–0 loss to Scotland, and a 2–1 placement match triumph over Canada (goals from Axel Bakayoko and Ambri), ultimately finishing fifth overall behind winners England.[31] Lasme's involvement was limited to this tournament, with no further appearances for France's under-20, under-21, or other youth teams recorded thereafter.[1]Senior international career
Bryan Lasme is eligible to represent the senior national teams of France, where he was born, or Ivory Coast, through his parental descent.[1][34] As of November 2025, Lasme remains uncapped at the senior international level, having not received any call-ups for either nation since his youth appearances.[35] This absence is influenced by intense competition for forward positions in both squads—France boasts stars like Kylian Mbappé, Randal Kolo Muani, and Marcus Thuram, while Ivory Coast features Sébastien Haller and others—and by fluctuations in Lasme's club form, with goal tallies varying from a peak of 9 in the 2020/21 season to as low as 0 in 2024/25.[36][37] Lasme's international prospects have not been the subject of notable media speculation, and he has made no public statements regarding a potential switch to Ivory Coast. Currently, the 26-year-old striker continues to prioritize his club career with FC Schalke 04 in the German 2. Bundesliga, where he has focused on rebuilding consistency following loans and inconsistent scoring output.[1]Career statistics
