Ballbarrow Development
Early 1970s
While still at the Royal College of Art, Dyson conceives and develops the Ballbarrow. This innovative wheelbarrow features a ball instead of a traditional wheel, making it easier to maneuver. He licenses the design to a manufacturer.
Working on the Sea Truck
1974-1978
Dyson works with a company called Rotork, further honing his engineering and manufacturing knowledge. During this period, he begins experimenting with cyclone technology, which will later become crucial to his vacuum cleaner design.
