Auto racing career

Involvement and local competitions

Jeremy Kelly has competed in grassroots stock car racing at Peterborough Speedway, primarily in the Mini Stock division in recent years, with earlier success in the lower-tier 4Fun/Bone Stock class. His racing involvement includes strong family ties, as he has competed alongside his brother Jake Kelly in the same divisions at the track, continuing a tradition begun by their grandfather who raced at Peterborough Speedway in the 1960s. In the 4Fun/Bone Stock division, Kelly achieved notable results early on, winning three qualifiers, finishing fourth in points, and earning best-appearing car honors in 2015. He went on to secure back-to-back track championships in 2016 and 2017, followed by a third-place finish in the 2018 standings. Kelly transitioned to the Jiffy Lube Mini Stock division in 2019, where he was named Rookie of the Year that season. In 2021, he captured the Mini Stock track championship by a single point with 531 points to runner-up Ryan Oosterholt's 530, clinching the title by winning the final feature race of the regular season. He successfully defended the title in 2022 for back-to-back championships, securing the crown with a sixth-place finish in the Championship Clash feature event. In 2019, ahead of his first full season in Mini Stock, Kelly appeared in a Global News interview discussing race cars and the upcoming Peterborough Speedway season.

Achievements

Jeremy Kelly has established himself as a prominent competitor in short-track auto racing at Peterborough Speedway in Ontario, securing multiple track championships across different divisions. He won the Pure Stock division title in both 2016 and 2017, before transitioning to the Mini Stock class where he claimed back-to-back championships in 2021 and 2022. In 2021, Kelly clinched the Jiffy Lube Mini Stock track championship by a narrow margin of 1 point, marking his successful adaptation to the division after his earlier Pure Stock successes. His 2022 season was particularly dominant, featuring three feature victories, eleven heat wins, and thirty top-three finishes, culminating in the Mini Stock title and an additional win in the top-ten-in-points shootout race.
