Martignas-sur-Jalle

Martignas-sur-Jalle (French pronunciation: [maʁtiɲas syʁ ʒal]; Occitan: Martinhàs de Jalas) is a commune in the Gironde department, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, southwestern France. It is twinned with Aboyne, a village in Aberdeenshire, Scotland.

Historically, the town is known to have been the theater of the Battle of Martignas [fr], where 500 to 600 longbowmen commanded by John Talbot were slaughtered by the French cavalry commanded by the Duke of Bourbon and the Count of Foix.
