Deutschland sucht den Superstar

[edit]

In September 2006, he attended the show's casting in Munich and inspired the jury with his two songs "Tears in Heaven" by Eric Clapton and "Wake Me Up When September Ends" by Green Day. In the Top 20 shows he convinced the public to vote for him, as he sang the songs: "Home" by Michael Bublé and Westlife's cover of "Mandy". Stosch made it to the Top 10, only to be in the bottom group every week up to his elimination. However, Max Buskohl, who was a favorite to win the competition along with Mark Medlock, dropped out of the competition to sign a record contract with his band. Thus, Stosch returned to the show and made it to the finale against Medlock in which he became the runner up.

Deutschland sucht den Superstar

Martin Stosch rose to prominence as a contestant on the fourth season of the singing competition Deutschland sucht den Superstar (DSDS) in 2007. He auditioned in Munich in September 2006, performing "Tears in Heaven" by Eric Clapton and "Wake Me Up When September Ends" by Green Day, successfully advancing past the jury. During the Top 20 phase, he delivered notable performances such as "Home" by Michael Bublé and "Mandy" by Westlife. He progressed to the live Mottoshows and reached the grand finale on 5 May 2007, where he competed against Mark Medlock and finished as runner-up. In the finale, he performed "Life Is a Rollercoaster" by Ronan Keating, "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" by Queen, and the self-written "I Can Reach Heaven from Here", composed in collaboration with Jörgen Elofsson. As part of the season's finalists, Stosch contributed to the official DSDS compilation album Power of Love, released in 2007, on which he sang "If Tomorrow Never Comes" and which peaked at number 3 on the German charts. This exposure from the show led to his debut solo album release in 2008.
