Milenia Daria Fiedler (born 20 December 1966) is a Polish film editor.

She graduated in film editing from Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague and obtained her Ph.D. in 2005.[1] In 2020 she became rector of the Łódź Film School.[2]

Among others, she worked with Andrzej Wajda, Janusz Majewski, Wojciech Marczewski, Jerzy Stuhr and Janusz Zaorski. She is the chairman of the Polish Film Editors Society (Polskie Stowarzyszenie Montażystów).[1]

Fiedler was nominated for the Polish Academy Award for Best Editing three times (2002, 2008, 2014). In 2002, she won the award for Weiser, for which she also received the Award for Best Editing at the Gdynia Film Festival.[1]

Milenia Fiedler graduated in 1989 from the Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts (FAMU) in Prague, specializing in film editing. She earned her PhD in film art in 2005. In 2009, she obtained her habilitation (dr hab.) in film art.

Film editing career

Early work and breakthrough

Milenia Fiedler began her professional editing career in the early 1990s after graduating from the Film Editing Department at FAMU in Prague in 1989. In the mid-1990s, she edited numerous documentaries, including biographical and historical works such as Krzysztof Kieślowski: I'm so-so... (1995) and Pontyfikat (1996), alongside many television theater productions. From the late 1990s, she contributed to popular long-running television series, editing early episodes of Złotopolscy (starting from odc. 1–3 in 1997 and many more in 1998–1999), the first episodes of Na dobre i na złe (odc. 1–7 in 1999), and episodes 1–59 of Miasteczko (2000–2001). In the first round on 3 July 2020, she received 25 votes, falling short of an absolute majority, while in the decisive second round on 6 July 2020, she secured 32 votes against 24 for Michał Staszczak. She succeeded prof. Mariusz Grzegorzek, who had served as Rector since 2012. Prior to assuming the rectorship, Fiedler had been associated with the school for over 20 years as a lecturer in the Editing Department within the Faculty of Film and Television Directing, and she had headed the Editing Department since 2016. Her election marked the continuation of her leadership role at the institution, where she had already contributed as an artistic supervisor for numerous student films. In April 2024, the School Electoral Commission announced Fiedler's re-election as Rector for the 2024–2028 term after a vote by the School Electoral Body. As Rector, dr hab. Milenia Fiedler directs the school's policy, represents it externally, manages all employees and students, and chairs the Senate during her term.

Milenia Fiedler has received one win and four nominations from the Polish Film Academy for the Orzeł (Polish Film Award) in the Best Editing category across more than two decades.
