NGC 3258 is an elliptical galaxy in the constellation Antlia.[5] It is a member of the Antlia Cluster, which lies about 40.7 megaparsecs (132.7 million light-years) away.[6] It was discovered by British astronomer John Herschel on 2 May 1834.[7]

One supernova has been observed in NGC 3258: SN 2010hx (Type Ia, mag. 15.3) was discovered by Berto Monard (bio-fr) on 16 September 2010.[8][9]
