Predator X is a character appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. The character is depicted as an adversary of Marvel's mutant characters, including the X-Men. Created by Christopher Yost, Craig Kyle, and Paco Medina, Predator X first appeared in New X-Men #34 (2007).[1][2]
Predator X debuted in New X-Men #34 (2007), created by Christopher Yost, Craig Kyle, and Paco Medina. He later appeared in issues 36, 42-46,[3] the 1981 Uncanny X-Men series,[4] and the 2007 "X-Men: Messiah Complex" storyline.[5]
Predator X is a group of artificial, mutant-hunting creatures created by the Weapon Plus program and William Stryker to combat the coming of the "mutant Anti-Christ".[2][6] They are augmented with metal taken from the mutant Mercury, leaving her traumatized.[6]
After Dust scars him, Matthew Risman is fixated on training Predator X to kill her. Despite this, Predator X senses the mutant it was originally created to destroy, turns, and heads off to find it as the Purifiers follow.[7] Predator X is later killed by Wolverine.[8][9]
Following the events of Utopia, Scalphunter is kidnapped by a group of non-mutant superhumans. When the X-Men attempt to rescue him, several Predators attack them before being killed.[10] A sixth Predator X operates in New York City before being killed by Fantomex.[11][12]
Predator X possesses superhuman physical abilities that enable it to move at superhuman speeds for long periods of time.[1] Additionally, it can absorb materials from the surrounding environment to repair itself, track mutants by their genetic signature, and generate acid.[7][2][13]
