Tokologo Local Municipality
Tokologo Municipality (Tswana: Mmasepala wa Tokologo; Afrikaans: Tokologo Munisipaliteit; Sotho: Masepala wa Tokologo) is a local municipality within the Lejweleputswa District Municipality, in the Free State province of South Africa. Tokologo is a Setswana word meaning "freedom".
The 2001 census divided the municipality into the following main places:
The municipal council consists of eight members elected by mixed-member proportional representation. Four councillors are elected by first-past-the-post voting in four wards, while the remaining four are chosen from party lists so that the total number of party representatives is proportional to the number of votes received. In the elections of 1 November 2021 the African National Congress (ANC) won a majority of 8 seats on the council. The following table shows the results of the election.
As of January 2024, the municipality is under administration, one of 32 in the country, and three in the Free State where the provincial executive has intervened due to maladministration
