Key Information
Club career
[edit]Early career
[edit]Born in Exeter, Dibling started his career with local side Axminster Town AFC, where his father Sam played for the men's team.[4] He joined Millwey Rise FC at the age of five, spending two years with the youth side.[5]
He joined Southampton in 2012, also spending a year with Exeter City at the age of seven, before signing a professional contract with The Saints in October 2021.[4][5] In April 2022, he scored a hat-trick of near-identical goals in a Premier League 2 game against Newcastle United, with a video of the goals going viral.[2]
Having been named on the bench for a Premier League game against Brentford, in which he did not feature, Dibling drew attention from Newcastle United and Chelsea.[2][6]
He joined the latter in July 2022, after ten years with Southampton, with the promise of a professional contract once he turned seventeen.[2][7][8] However, after failing to settle at Chelsea, making only two appearances for the club's under-18 side, he returned to Southampton in September 2022,[2] reportedly because of "homesickness".[9]
Southampton
[edit]Dibling signed a scholarship deal with Southampton on 17 September 2022, stating that the club felt like a "second home" to him.[10][11][12] He was seen as one of the brightest prospects in Southampton's academy.[2][13] On 22 February 2023, Dibling signed his first professional contract.[14] On 18 December 2023, he signed a new contract, keeping him at the club until 2026.[15]
Dibling made his first professional appearance on 8 August 2023 in a 3–1 defeat to Gillingham in the EFL Cup, replacing Jayden Meghoma in the 85th minute.[16] On 13 January 2024, he made his first league appearance for the club in a 4–0 victory against Sheffield Wednesday, coming on as a substitute for Ryan Fraser in the 88th minute.[17]
On 17 August 2024, Dibling made his first Premier League appearance in a 1–0 away defeat against Newcastle United after he replaced Joe Aribo in the 70th minute.[18][19] On 21 September, he scored his first professional goal in a 1–1 draw against Ipswich Town.[20]
Everton
[edit]On 25 August 2025, Dibling joined Everton on a four-year contract,[21] for a reported transfer fee of an initial £35 million plus £5m in potential add-ons.[22]
International career
[edit]Dibling has represented England at the under-16, under-17 and under-18 levels.[1] On 17 May 2023, Dibling was named in the England squad for the 2023 UEFA European Under-17 Championship.[23] He made his England under-18 debut on 6 September 2023 during a 2–0 defeat to France in Limoges.[24] On 2 November 2023, Dibling was included in the England squad for the 2023 FIFA U-17 World Cup.[25] He scored in their opening group game against New Caledonia.[26]
On 4 September 2024, Dibling made his England U19 debut during a 2–2 draw to Italy.[27] On 8 November 2024, he was named in the England U21 squad to face Spain and the Netherlands in friendlies.[28] He made his England U21 debut on 15 November 2024 in a 0–0 draw with Spain.[29][30]

Early career
Tyler-Jay Robert Dibling was born on 17 February 2006 in Exeter, England, to parents of English descent. His father, Sam Dibling, was an amateur footballer who played for local club Axminster Town AFC and coached youth teams in the area.[1][3] Dibling began playing organised football at the age of five, joining Millwey Rise FC, where his father coached the under-7s side, and also featuring for Axminster Town AFC.[3] He featured in Exeter City's pre-academy setup before joining Southampton at age eight in 2014 after being scouted at an under-seven tournament.[8][3] Dibling advanced through the club's age-group teams, establishing himself as a promising talent in their academy.[1] In 2022, he briefly joined Chelsea's academy but departed after six weeks, opting to return to Southampton.[9] On 22 February 2023, shortly after turning 17, Dibling signed his first professional contract with Southampton, a two-and-a-half-year deal keeping him at the club until 2025. He extended this contract on 18 December 2023 until 2026.[10][11]Southampton
Dibling made his senior debut on 8 August 2023, coming on as a substitute in the 85th minute during a 3–1 EFL Cup first-round defeat to Gillingham.[12] His first league appearance followed on 13 January 2024, substituting in the 78th minute of a 4–0 Championship home win over Sheffield Wednesday.[13] During the 2023–24 season, Dibling made limited appearances as Southampton competed in the Championship, totaling five outings across all competitions without scoring.[14] The following 2024–25 Premier League campaign represented his professional breakthrough, where he became a regular fixture under manager Russell Martin. Dibling scored his first senior goal on 21 September 2024, a composed finish from 10 yards in the fifth minute of a 1–1 home draw against Ipswich Town.[15] He added a second league goal later in the season and recorded one assist in the Premier League, contributing to Southampton's attacking play despite the team's struggles.[4] Dibling's standout performances in the 2024–25 season highlighted his dribbling prowess and ability to draw fouls, ranking him in the Premier League's top 20 for attempted take-ons (110) and successful dribbles per 90 minutes (2.15).[16] These attributes shone in key matches, such as his full debut against Manchester United on 14 September 2024, where his fearless ball-carrying disrupted defenses, and subsequent games where he created chances through progressive carries and earned set pieces via skillful maneuvers.[17] Over his time at Southampton from 2023 to 2025, Dibling amassed 44 appearances across all competitions, scoring four goals and providing two assists; in league play, he featured in 34 matches with two goals.[4] His rapid development culminated in a transfer to Everton, announced on 25 August 2025, for an initial fee of £35 million plus £5 million in add-ons, with Southampton securing a 20% sell-on clause.[18][19]Everton
On 25 August 2025, Tyler Dibling joined Everton from Southampton on a four-year contract, taking the squad number 20.[2][20] The move came after Dibling rejected interest from Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa, with his representatives citing Everton's clearer pathway to first-team opportunities under manager David Moyes as a key factor.[21] Dibling made his first appearance for Everton on 31 August 2025, coming on as a substitute in a Premier League match against Bournemouth.[22] His early integration into the squad proved challenging, with limited minutes due to strong competition from established wingers such as Jack Grealish and Iliman Ndiaye, who had been in impressive form during the opening fixtures of the 2025–26 season.[23] As of 15 November 2025, Dibling had recorded just four league appearances without scoring, often featuring in brief substitute roles.[24][4] Across all competitions, Dibling had made six appearances by that point, still yet to find the net, as he worked to adapt to Moyes' tactical demands and the intensity of Goodison Park.[25] Moyes praised Dibling's potential but noted the adaptation period, commenting that the young winger was "finding it difficult to break into the first team" amid the pecking order ahead of him, and hinted at possible loan discussions in January 2026 if his form continued to lag.[26][27]International career
Youth career
Dibling began his England youth international career with the under-16 team, making his debut in December 2021 and earning 4 caps with 1 goal across the 2021–2022 period.[17] He advanced to the under-17 level in 2022, accumulating 15 caps and scoring 3 goals from 2022 to 2023.[28] Notable contributions included a brace in a 6–2 qualifying win over Georgia for the UEFA European Under-17 Championship in October 2022, as well as a goal and an assist in England's 10–0 opening group stage victory against New Caledonia at the 2023 FIFA U-17 World Cup.[29][30] Dibling earned his first under-18 cap on 6 September 2023, substituting in during a 2–0 defeat to France at the Tournoi International de Limoges.[31] Over the following year, he made 5 appearances without scoring and contributed to England's triumph at the 2024 Pinatar Cup in Spain.[32][33] Progressing further, Dibling debuted for the under-19s on 4 September 2024 in a 2–2 draw with Italy during a training camp in Croatia.[34] He secured 6 caps and 1 goal at this level, highlighted by a strike in a 2–3 loss to Germany later that month and contributions in UEFA European Under-19 Championship qualifiers.[35][33] Dibling earned his first call-up to the England U21 squad in November 2024, making his debut in friendlies against Spain and the Netherlands, where he impressed.[36] He continued with the U21s in 2025, recording his first assist in a September qualifier and starting in October and November matches, including the 2–0 win over Ireland on 14 November 2025, accumulating 6 caps without scoring as of 15 November 2025.[37][38] In total, Dibling has collected around 35 caps across England's youth teams (including U21), with 5 goals, and standout performances in major tournaments like the FIFA U-17 World Cup and the Pinatar Cup.Senior career
As of 15 November 2025, Tyler Dibling has not received a senior cap for the England national team, despite his progression through the youth ranks.[1] His first considerations for a senior call-up emerged following his strong U21 performances in November 2024.[36] However, Dibling was not selected for any senior squads in 2025, including those under manager Thomas Tuchel for the March internationals or the November window, instead featuring for the U21s in their qualifiers, including the win over Ireland on 14 November 2025.[39][40][38] Dibling's transfer to Everton in August 2025, providing him with regular Premier League exposure, positions him as a strong candidate for future senior inclusion, with coaches noting his potential to follow a trajectory similar to Jack Wilshere, who earned his first England cap at age 19 after youth success.[2][41] Former England Under-17 coach Ryan Garry has highlighted Dibling's readiness to evolve into a senior regular, drawing parallels to rapid youth-to-senior transitions seen in players like Phil Foden, though Dibling has yet to achieve that breakthrough.[3]Playing style
Positional versatility
Tyler Dibling primarily operates as a right winger, though his career has showcased frequent deployments on the left wing and as a central attacking midfielder, allowing him to adapt to various tactical setups in attacking phases.[42] His versatility stems from a combination of technical proficiency and physical attributes, including a height of 1.78 m that provides a balanced presence for duels in wide areas and build-up play without compromising agility.[1] This flexibility has been evident across youth and senior levels, enabling coaches to utilize him in fluid systems where he can drift inside from the flanks or link play centrally.[3] During the 2024–25 season with Southampton, Dibling was most commonly positioned on the right wing, contributing directly to attacks from that flank, as seen in his first Premier League goal against Ipswich Town on 21 September 2024, where he received an angled pass and finished with a precise strike after a quick touch.[43] He also featured centrally as an attacking midfielder in several matches, demonstrating his ability to orchestrate play from deeper positions, while occasional left-wing appearances added width to the team's options.[42] This distribution highlighted his role in Southampton's possession-oriented approach, where he could exploit spaces across the forward line.[44] Upon transferring to Everton in August 2025, Dibling initially entered as a right-wing substitute, providing impact from the bench in early appearances and training sessions.[16] His physical build has aided adaptation to the Premier League's demands, allowing him to contribute in build-up phases on the right before shifting inward to support central playmaking, mirroring his international experience.[1] In England U19 internationals, including the 2025 UEFA European Under-19 Championship, he excelled in central roles, using his vision to create chances and demonstrate playmaking from the No. 10 position.[3] This positional range has positioned him as a valuable asset for Everton's tactical evolution under David Moyes.[27]Key attributes
Dibling's dribbling stands out as one of his most exceptional skills, defined by a flamboyant style that incorporates short bursts of speed, rapid direction changes, and precise ball control, allowing him to navigate tight spaces effectively. This ability has made him unpredictable and difficult to dispossess, with his flair often drawing fouls from opponents; he ranked 15th among Premier League players for most fouls won in the 2024–25 season with 50 fouls, averaging 1.52 per game.[9][45][46][47] Complementing his dribbling is Dibling's refined technique and creativity, evident in his silky touches, incisive passes, and sharp vision that facilitate assists and progressive play. The ball appears to adhere to his feet under pressure, enabling him to maintain possession in congested areas and execute creative maneuvers like quick shifts to evade challenges.[48][49][44] At just 19 years old, Dibling exhibits notable physical qualities for his age, including excellent balance, poise, power, and strength that help him withstand physical duels and shield the ball from defenders. His acceleration and mobility further enhance his capacity to beat opponents one-on-one, particularly through direct running on the right flank where his fearlessness allows him to eliminate markers and earn free-kicks via skillful play.[48][49] However, Dibling has shown some areas for growth, such as occasional isolation in advanced positions stemming from team systems that limit support around him, a issue highlighted during his initial adaptation to Everton's direct style and higher defensive demands in 2025. Additionally, his end product in the final third, including decision-making and conversion rates, remains a work in progress as he adjusts to consistent senior-level exposure.[7][7]Career statistics
