Throughout his career
Bob Irwin developed significant expertise in reptile husbandry, including breeding programs, rescue, and rehabilitation. His knowledge was essential for managing the reptiles at the Queensland Reptile and Fauna Park and Australia Zoo.
Apex Predator Management
Throughout his career
Bob's expertise extended to apex predators, including crocodiles. He helped develop safe handling techniques and strategies for coexisting with these animals. He transferred this knowlege to his son, Steve, and helped in the development of procedures for crocodile relocation.
Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation
Throughout his career
Bob dedicated a significant amount of time and effort to rescuing and rehabilitating injured or orphaned wildlife. He became a mentor and father-figure to injured animals, and oversaw the rehabilitation programs at the Park.
