The Maxus Terron 9 or LDV Terron 9 is a mid-size pickup truck produced by Chinese automaker SAIC Maxus since 2024. It is available in both diesel engine and battery electric powertrains with different naming. The model is marketed as the Maxus Interstellar X (Chinese: 大通星际X; pinyin: Dàtōng Xīngjì X, translation: star boundary or interstellar) in China, while the diesel-powered LDV Terron 9 and MG U9 (marketed by MG Motor) are sold concurrently in Australia.
The battery electric version, the Maxus eTerron 9, was presented on 17 September 2024 at the IAA Transportation in Hanover,[1][2] announcing its arrival on the European market.[3][4] It is also marketed as the LDV eTerron 9 in Australia.
The Terron 9 offers a towing capacity of 3.5 tonnes and a payload of 620 kg (1,370 lb) in its 1.7 m (5 ft 7 in) long rear dump body,[5] which extends to 2.4 with the tailgate down. It offers an electrically opening frunk (front trunk) with a capacity of 236 dm3 with two integrated seats.[6]
The MG U9 was revealed in Australia on 4 April 2025 as a diesel-powered model.[7]
Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles will produce the second-generation, Latin American market Volkswagen Amarok in Argentina based on the Terron 9.[8]
The eTerron 9 is equipped with two electric motors (125 kW (168 hp) at the front and 200 kW (270 hp) at the rear) for a combined power of 325 kW (436 hp), powered by a LFP battery with a capacity of 102 kWh (370 MJ).[9] It supports direct current (DC) fast charging up to 115 kW (154 hp), allowing it to charge from 20% to 80% in 40 minutes.[10]
The LDV Terron 9 went on sale in Australia on 30 June 2025, with two trim levels: Origin and Evolve.[11]
The LDV Terron 9 went on sale in New Zealand on 12 June 2025, in the sole Elite variant.[12]
The LDV Terron 9 was launched in South Africa on 1 September 2025, with three trim levels: Elite, Premium and Flagship.[13]
