Birth and family background
Pol Granch, born Pablo Grandjean Sáenz on April 4, 1998, in Madrid, Spain, grew up in a multicultural household that influenced his early life.[10][11] His mother is Spanish and his father is French, granting him dual Spanish-French nationality and a bilingual upbringing in the vibrant cultural environment of Madrid.[12][6] Granch has one sibling, a brother named Alvarado, who pursued a career in graphic design, contributing to the family's creative atmosphere during his formative years in the Spanish capital.[6] This Madrid-based childhood laid the foundation for his interest in music from a young age.[12]Early musical influences
Pol Granch developed an early passion for music during his childhood in Madrid, influenced by the diverse sounds present in his multicultural family environment, stemming from his French father and Spanish mother. Music was a constant in the household, providing initial exposure to various genres through familial listening habits and media.[13] At around age seven, Granch received his first guitar, a Yamaha FG Junior JR1, which he kept throughout his formative years and used to begin composing his initial songs in a self-taught manner. This instrument marked the start of his hands-on engagement with music, allowing him to experiment creatively from a young age.[14] As a teenager, he intensified his musical pursuits by actively learning to play the guitar without formal instruction, alongside self-teaching vocals and other instruments while practicing with friends. During his school years in Madrid, Granch participated in school choirs, informal musical groups, singing and performing in casual local settings such as neighborhood porches, which helped nurture his performance skills and songwriting abilities.[13][4] His initial musical tastes were shaped by Latin pop and contemporary R&B, genres he encountered via family-shared music and broader media exposure, including social platforms where he later began sharing self-composed tracks in his early teens.[15][16]Music career
Breakthrough on Factor X
Pol Granch, born Pablo Grandjean Sáenz in Madrid, Spain, to a French father and Spanish mother, auditioned for the third season of Factor X España in 2018, showcasing his self-taught guitar skills and multilingual vocal abilities during the preliminary rounds. At age 18, he performed the French song "Le chant des sirènes" by Fréro Delavega in the audition phase, impressing the judges despite minor technical errors with his emotional delivery and charismatic stage presence, which highlighted his French-Spanish heritage and acoustic guitar accompaniment.[17] This performance earned him advancement to the chair challenge, where he continued to demonstrate versatility by blending French and Spanish elements in subsequent selections, ultimately securing a spot in the live shows under mentor Laura Pausini in the Boys category.[18] Throughout the competition, which aired on Telecinco from April to July 2018, Granch delivered several standout performances that emphasized his vocal range, guitar proficiency, and interpretive depth. In the live shows, he covered Ed Sheeran's "Perfect," earning praise for his smooth tenor and emotional phrasing, and reinterpreted Francis Cabrel's "La quiero a morir" in both French and Spanish, blending languages to underscore his bilingual roots and captivating audiences with his raw intensity. Another highlight was his rendition of Izal's "Pausa," where he infused indie rock energy with personal flair on guitar, and Antonio Vega's "El sitio de mi recreo" in the final, which moved viewers with its nostalgic vulnerability.[19] These selections not only displayed his technical skills but also his ability to connect emotionally, setting him apart in a field of 12 contestants.[17] On July 5, 2018, Granch emerged as the champion of Factor X España's third season, defeating runner-up Elena Farga in the grand final with a compelling reprise of "Le chant des sirènes," which sealed his victory through public votes and judge acclaim for his consistent growth and authenticity.[20] As the winner, he was immediately awarded a recording contract with Sony Music Spain, marking his professional entry into the music industry and providing a platform for his debut releases the following year.[17][18]Debut releases and rise to prominence
Following his victory on the Spanish talent show Factor X in 2018, Pol Granch transitioned to a solo recording career under Sony Music Spain. His debut single, "Late," was released on February 8, 2019, marking his first independent studio effort as a pop-leaning ballad that showcased his vocal range and songwriting. The track, co-written and produced by Paco Salazar, quickly resonated with audiences familiar from the show, accumulating steady streams on platforms like Spotify and Apple Music in its initial months.[21][22] Building on the momentum, Granch released his self-titled debut EP on April 26, 2019, a six-track project that expanded on the introspective themes of "Late" with additional originals like "Desastre" and "Perdón por las Horas." The EP blended pop elements with emotional lyricism, reflecting his early influences from urban and alternative sounds, and was distributed digitally via Sony Music Entertainment España. Early singles from this period, including "Late," achieved notable streaming traction, with "Late" rated as moderately popular on Spotify (30-90% popularity index) and contributing to Granch's growing digital footprint in Spain.[23][24] Granch cultivated his fanbase in 2019 through active engagement on social media, where he had begun sharing original songs as a teenager, and by performing at key live events before the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted touring. Notable appearances included a set at Los40 Summer Live in Palma de Mallorca on July 25, 2019, and other concerts in Spain that helped solidify his presence in the Spanish music scene and drew crowds eager for his post-Factor X material. These efforts fostered a dedicated following, particularly among young listeners, through platforms like Instagram and live interactions that highlighted his charismatic stage presence.[25]Album development and recent projects
Pol Granch released his debut studio album, Tengo que calmarme, on June 26, 2020, via Sony Music Entertainment Spain. The project marked his first full-length release following early singles, with the title track serving as the lead single, issued on May 29, 2020, to preview the album's themes of emotional introspection and personal growth.[26] Building on this foundation, Granch delivered his second album, Amor Escupido, on October 28, 2022, which explored raw romantic turmoil through urban pop and R&B influences. The record incorporated prior hits like the collaborative single "Tiroteo" with Marc Seguí (and its remix featuring Rauw Alejandro) and "No Pegamos," both of which highlighted his evolving sound blending vulnerability with energetic production.[26][27] In the lead-up to his third album, Granch teased material through a series of singles and previews starting in 2023, signaling a shift toward more experimental electronic elements. This culminated in the release of EXPERIMENTO 0150 on October 18, 2024, a 11-track effort that delved into introspective narratives with collaborators like GALE on "Tarantino." Key releases during this period included the remix of his single "solo x ti" featuring Abraham Mateo, dropped on August 17, 2023, which amplified his crossover appeal in the Latin pop scene.[26][28][29] Amid these developments, Granch maintained momentum with live performances, including an acoustic set at the Latin Recording Academy's nominee event in Madrid on October 26, 2022, where he showcased stripped-down renditions of his catalog alongside artists like Becky G.[30]Acting career
Entry into television
Pol Granch made his acting debut portraying Philippe Florian von Triesenberg, a privileged prince and international student at the elite Las Encinas school, in the fourth season of the Netflix series Élite, which premiered on June 18, 2021.[31] In the role, Granch depicted a character entangled in school rivalries, romantic entanglements, and personal scandals, bringing a layer of aristocratic intrigue to the series' ongoing narrative of class tensions and youthful drama.[32] Granch appeared in all eight episodes of season 4 and all eight episodes of season 5, which aired in 2022, totaling 16 episodes across the two seasons.[33] He also starred in the three-episode spin-off miniseries Élite Short Stories: Phillipe Caye & Felipe, released on December 15, 2021, which focused on his character's relationships during the holiday season.[34][35] His rising prominence as a musician following his 2018 win on Factor X helped position him for this breakout acting opportunity, leveraging his existing fanbase to transition into television.[36] Granch's performance as Philippe was noted for injecting fresh energy into the ensemble, contributing to the character's popularity among viewers and marking his emergence as an international talent.[32] The role significantly broadened his audience beyond music enthusiasts, providing an international boost through Élite's global reach and propelling his dual career in entertainment.[37]Transition to film
Following his acting foundation in the television series Élite, Pol Granch transitioned to feature films with a supporting role as Jaume in the biographical drama Disco, Ibiza, Locomía.[38] Directed by Kike Maíllo, the film was released on May 17, 2024, and chronicles the rise of the 1980s Spanish pop group Locomía amid the vibrant Ibiza club scene, exploring themes of fame, identity, and friendship. Granch portrayed Jaume, a bartender at the iconic Ku club who joins the group's dance performances, contributing to the ensemble's depiction of the era's music and cultural explosion.[39] Granch continued his film work with a supporting role in the romantic comedy Me has robado el corazón.[10] Directed by Chus Gutiérrez, the film is scheduled for release on December 5, 2025, and centers on a road movie-style plot blending romance, comedy, and adventure.[40][41] The story follows Eric, a young engineer portrayed by Óscar Casas, who connects with Vera (Ana Jara) via a dating app and deceives her into serving as his getaway driver to Galicia after a botched bank heist. Along the way, the pair navigates a series of humorous mishaps and romantic developments that challenge their budding connection and reveal deeper insights into love.[40] Granch's character contributes to this ensemble-driven narrative, enhancing the film's dynamic interplay among the leads and supporting players during the high-stakes journey.[42][43] Principal filming took place across various locations in Galicia, Spain, capturing the region's scenic landscapes to underscore the adventure elements of the story.[44] Granch collaborated closely with co-stars Óscar Casas and Ana Jara, whose central performances drive the film's romantic tension, while the production received support from regional authorities to highlight Galician talent and settings.[45][43] Promotional campaigns—including the October 2025 trailer release—emphasize Granch's growing presence in cinema, positioning the project as a key milestone in his multifaceted entertainment career.[46][47] Early buzz around the trailer has spotlighted the film's lighthearted tone and Granch's integration into the ensemble, generating anticipation for his big-screen presence ahead of the holiday release.[48]Discography
