History

Founding and early operations

My Indo Airlines was founded in 2012 by a group of aviation pioneers with over 40 years of collective experience in the air cargo and logistics industry, including the successful operation of three prior airlines. The company was established to address growing demand for reliable cargo transportation in Indonesia, leveraging the founders' expertise to position itself as a dedicated cargo carrier in the Asia Pacific region. Following its founding, My Indo Airlines focused on obtaining necessary regulatory approvals from Indonesian authorities, culminating in the award of an Air Operator Certificate (AOC) by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation in 2014. The airline established its primary base at (HLP) in , with additional operations at (CGK), enabling efficient access to domestic and regional networks. Early efforts also involved overcoming stricter aviation regulations and a dynamic industry landscape, including the European Union Air Safety List ban on all Indonesian carriers from 2014 until its lifting in June 2018, drawing on the team's proven track record to navigate these hurdles. In 2014, My Indo Airlines launched its scheduled and charter services, marking its entry into the market with initial operations from Halim Perdanakusuma Airport. The carrier secured its first aircraft, a converted 737-300 freighter, to support these services and began building essential infrastructure for handling and integration. This phase emphasized reliable freighter conversions and operational setup to ensure compliance and efficiency in the competitive sector.

Expansion and milestones

Following its inception in 2014, My Indo Airlines began progressive fleet modernization in 2015 by incorporating freighter variants, initially through short-term leases of models like the 737-300SF to support growing domestic cargo demands. This effort continued with the acquisition of additional 737-300SF and 737-400F aircraft, enabling the airline to expand its operational capacity and reliability in the Indonesian market. By focusing on these versatile freighters, the company enhanced its logistics efficiency, laying the groundwork for broader regional services. A significant milestone occurred in June 2022 when My Indo Airlines became the first Indonesian freighter operator to introduce the 737-800BCF, a converted next-generation that improved payload and range capabilities. This addition marked a key advancement in the airline's fleet strategy, supporting increased cargo volumes amid rising and trade demands in . The 737-800BCF's integration underscored the company's commitment to technological upgrades, positioning it as a leader among regional cargo carriers. The airline's expansion into international markets accelerated through enhanced charter services, extending operations to destinations in , the Middle East, and by leveraging partnerships with regional affiliates for mutual market access. These efforts were bolstered by key certifications, including the assignment of IATA code 2Y and ICAO code MYU upon commencing scheduled operations, which facilitated global recognition and smoother international clearances. In recognition of its reliability and growth, My Indo Airlines received the Top 5 Cargo Airlines award from the Changi Airport Group in 2021 for contributions to freighter traffic expansion. In March 2025, My Indo Airlines launched a new scheduled cargo route connecting Balikpapan (BPN) to Fuzhou (FOC), China, with onward connections to Jakarta (CGK), further strengthening its presence in the Asia Pacific region.

Fleet

Current fleet

As of November 2025, My Indo Airlines operates a fleet of nine active freighter aircraft, all narrow-body jets converted from passenger variants to support cargo operations across its network. The airline maintains these aircraft to international standards, ensuring operational efficiency through regular inspections and compliance with Indonesian authority requirements. The average fleet age stands at 31.8 years, reflecting a mix of mature converted assets optimized for reliability in regional freight services. The fleet includes three 737-400F freighters, each converted from passenger models and featuring side cargo doors for efficient loading. These are registered as PK-MYV ( 24559, built in 1990 and converted in 2007), PK-MYJ ( 25857, built in 1992 and converted in 2018), and PK-MYF ( 27143, built in 1993 and converted in 2018), with ages ranging from 32 to 35 years. These typically offer a capacity of around 18-20 metric tons and a range of approximately 1,800 nautical miles, supporting key domestic and regional routes. Complementing these are five Boeing 737-300SF freighters: PK-MYB ( 28662, built in 1995, converted in 2022), PK-MYC ( 27274, built in 1995, converted in 2020), PK-MYD ( 29407, built in 1998, converted in 2022), PK-MYE ( 23448, built in 1985), and PK-MYY ( 23598, built in 1986, converted prior to entry), averaging approximately 30 years in age and configured for similar cargo volumes. The fleet's newest addition is one Boeing 737-800BCF, registered PK-MYI (MSN 32691, built in 2006 and converted in ), marking Indonesia's first converted freighter of this Next Generation type. This aircraft provides enhanced capacity with a volume-limited of 20.8 metric tons and a range exceeding 2,000 nautical miles, enabling longer-haul cargo missions.

Fleet evolution

My Indo Airlines commenced operations in September 2014 with an initial fleet consisting of a single 737-300SF freighter, registered PK-MYI, which was acquired and converted from a configuration to support cargo services. This aircraft, a converted narrow-body jet, marked the airline's entry into the Indonesian cargo market, emphasizing reliable short-haul freighting capabilities. Shortly thereafter, the fleet expanded modestly with the addition of a 737-200 freighter, PK-MYR, integrated around 2015 to enhance capacity for domestic routes. Between 2015 and 2021, My Indo Airlines pursued fleet growth through targeted acquisitions and leases of converted variants, focusing on cost-efficient models to meet rising demand in . In 2015, another -300SF, PK-MYU, was added via lease, though it served briefly before transfer. By 2017, the incorporated a -300QC (quick-change) model, PK-MYZ, allowing flexible passenger- operations, acquired through purchase from prior operators. A significant milestone occurred in July 2019 with the lease of the first -400SF, PK-MYV, from lessor Manhattan Capital, bringing the total to four freighters and enabling expanded international hauling. Subsequent additions in this period included two more 737-300SF units in late 2019 and 2021, sourced via purchases and conversions, solidifying a mid-sized inventory suited for regional . From 2022 onward, the airline modernized its fleet by introducing higher-capacity converted freighters, starting with its inaugural 737-800BCF in June 2022, registered PK-MYI (re-registered post-conversion), leased after modification at Shanghai Pudong and ferried to . This addition, the first of its type for an Indonesian operator, boosted efficiency for long-haul routes. Further enhancements included two additional 737-400SF models in 2022 via leases from Prime Capital, increasing versatility. By 2023, two more 737-300SF units were acquired, but adjustments involved storing one older 737-200 (PK-MYR) in August 2023 due to maintenance needs, with no reported scrappings. These changes reflect ongoing optimization amid fleet turnover. Throughout its history, My Indo Airlines has maintained a strategy centered on acquiring and converting pre-owned passenger 737s into freighters, prioritizing affordability and adaptability for operations in Indonesia's , resulting in a cumulative fleet of approximately 10 units across variants like the 737-200, -300SF, -400SF, and -800BCF.
