Family and upbringing
Rohit Suchanti was born on 6 April 1996 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India.[1] As of 2025, he is 29 years old. He hails from an upper-class family with roots in the film industry and a hometown connection to Jaipur, Rajasthan.[1] Suchanti was born into a Jain family.[1] Suchanti is the son of Sandeep Suchanti, a film distributor and business professional, and Rajini Suchanti, his mother.[1][5] He has an elder brother named Shobhit Suchanti, who is a businessman.[1] The family provided support for his creative inclinations, influenced by their background in the entertainment sector.[1] Growing up in Mumbai, Suchanti experienced a childhood marked by personal challenges, including being overweight during his school years, which impacted his confidence.[1] This period motivated him to undergo a significant fitness transformation later in life. His early fascination with acting emerged from the city's vibrant entertainment environment and familial ties to the industry, sparking his interest in creative pursuits from a young age.[1][6]Education and early interests
Rohit Suchanti completed his early schooling at Step By Step School in Shillong, followed by Navi Mumbai High School in Mumbai and Baldwin Boys' High School in Bengaluru, finishing his secondary education around 2013.[1][7] He later attended Sri Bhagawan Mahaveer Jain College in Bengaluru, where he earned a degree.[8][5] During his school and college years, Suchanti struggled with being overweight, reaching approximately 107 kilograms, which affected his self-confidence and social experiences, including a lack of romantic interest from peers due to societal expectations around appearance.[9][1] These challenges with body image during adolescence motivated him to embark on a self-driven transformation after completing school, incorporating strict gym workouts and a controlled diet to shed significant weight.[10] By age 18, he had transitioned into a fitness enthusiast, maintaining a disciplined routine that shaped his physical and mental resilience.[11] From a young age, Suchanti nurtured interests in modeling and fitness, which complemented his personal growth and provided an outlet for self-expression amid his evolving physique.[12] These passions, supported by his family's encouragement of creative pursuits, laid the groundwork for his later endeavors before entering the professional entertainment field.[13]Career
Debut and initial roles
Rohit Suchanti entered the entertainment industry as a child actor in 2010, making his television debut in the Star Plus comedy series Saas Bina Sasural, where he portrayed Bittu, a member of the Toofani family.[14] This early role marked his initial exposure to the medium, appearing alongside established actors in a light-hearted family narrative. In 2015, Suchanti took on a supporting role as Dhruv in season 4 of the romantic anthology Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya on Zing, contributing to an episode focused on love and friendship themes.[15] He continued building his portfolio the following year with a lead role as Rohit Agarwal, a student navigating life at a military boarding school, in the MTV India youth drama Warrior High.[16] That same year, he appeared as Vikram in season 5 of Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya.[17] By 2016, Suchanti essayed the character of Abhay in another installment of the series, accumulating special appearances across its 2015–2017 seasons on channels like Zing.[18] As he transitioned to adult roles, Suchanti pursued modeling assignments between 2015 and 2016 to diversify his experience in the industry.[19] He began his professional journey more broadly as a junior artist in 2014, facing significant challenges including repeated audition rejections and typecasting due to his youthful appearance and physique at the time.[20] These hurdles, particularly struggles with weight that limited opportunities for substantial parts, prompted him to focus on minor supporting roles across platforms like Star Plus and MTV while honing his skills.[21]Breakthrough in television
Rohit Suchanti gained significant visibility in 2017 with his first major role as Ramakant "Ricky" Modi, the son of protagonists Gopi and Ahem, in the long-running Star Plus serial Saath Nibhaana Saathiya, where he portrayed a parallel lead character amid family drama and twists.[22][23] That same year, he made his lead debut in Rishta Likhenge Hum Naya on Sony TV, playing the romantic lead Ratan Maan Singh opposite Tejasswi Prakash's Diya Singh in a story exploring love, royalty, and societal challenges, which aired from November 2017 to June 2018.[24][25] In October 2018, Suchanti entered reality television as a wild card contestant on Bigg Boss 12 hosted by Salman Khan on Colors TV, joining in the third week and forming alliances that showcased his strategic gameplay, before his eviction on December 16 as the 8th-place finisher after 64 days.[26][27][28] Following this, he took on the lead role of Anshuman Sharma in the 2019–2020 Zee TV family drama Dil Yeh Ziddi Hai, depicting a character navigating emotional complexities in a narrative centered on love, resilience, and a protagonist's battle with Retinitis Pigmentosa.[29][30] These roles marked Suchanti's transition from supporting parts to central protagonists, with his Bigg Boss participation amplifying media coverage and fan engagement, solidifying his presence in Indian television during 2017–2020.[14][31]Major roles and recent projects
