That girl can sing and she sings with her heart and soul, I think that's what literally hypnotizes people. There is something iconic about her. She can be idolized not only by generations that are into heavier music but also by the kids that are growing up on pop culture".[23] Hard Rock Haven claimed, "The band can not only put on a show, but they are great songwriters as well. With their memorable hooks and huge choruses, listeners can hum their tunes long after hearing them play. There is no doubt in my mind that Edge of Paradise is on their way to the big stages; they are bound to break through."[24]

Edge of Paradise was formed in 2011 in , , by vocalist and keyboardist Margarita Monet and guitarist Dave Bates after they met during a freelance music project. The duo aimed to blend with cinematic elements, drawing from Monet's classical training and Bates' rock influences. The band's debut studio album, , was released on September 15, 2011, through Melrose Music Studios as an independent effort. Self-produced by the founders, the album featured session musicians including bassist Tony Franklin and drummer , with guest vocals by on the track "Tail of the Gun." Key tracks such as "" and "" showcased the band's emerging industrial-tinged sound, and the album debuted at number six on the CMJ national metal radio chart. For early recordings and live performances, the initial lineup was expanded with bassist Nick Ericson and drummer John Chominsky, who joined around 2012 and helped solidify the core group by 2013. As an unsigned band, Edge of Paradise faced challenges in refining their sound and funding promotions, relying on self-financed music videos produced on limited budgets while performing at local venues to build a following. In 2013, the band released their debut EP, Perfect Shade of Black, limited to 200 physical copies and initially available only through direct sales. Produced by and mixed by , the EP marked a shift toward more polished production, featuring guitar-driven tracks like the title song and "" that highlighted improved sonic clarity. These early independent efforts laid the groundwork for wider recognition with their 2015 album Immortal Waltz.

Breakthrough period

In 2015, Edge of Paradise signed with Pure Steel Records and Soulfood, marking a significant step in their professional trajectory with the release of their second studio album, Immortal Waltz, on May 22. Produced by Michael Wagener, the album emphasized orchestral and symphonic elements, blending them with melodic hard rock to create a cinematic sound that distinguished the band's evolving style. The record garnered fan recognition, being voted Album of the Week by readers of Revolver magazine following the premiere of singles like "In A Dream" and "Rise For The Fallen" on the publication's platform. This acclaim helped solidify their presence in the metal scene, building on their grassroots foundation. The band's momentum continued with the release of their EP Alive on March 10, 2017, distributed via ILS/Universal. Comprising five tracks, the EP achieved success upon debut, entering Billboard's Current Hard Music Albums at No. 58 and the Top New Album Artist at No. 94 in its first week. During this period, the lineup with Nick Ericson and drummer John Chominsky supported the band's growing touring ambitions, expanding live performances across more than 18 U.S. states and securing opening slots for prominent acts like , which broadened their national exposure and fanbase. By 2019, Edge of Paradise partnered with Frontiers Music srl for their third studio album, Universe, released on November 8. Produced by Mike Plotnikoff and mixed by Jacob Hansen, the album incorporated industrial and electronic production techniques alongside the band's signature symphonic metal framework, resulting in tracks like "Electrify" and the title song that featured heavier distortion, vocal effects, and rapid percussion. This release represented a maturation in their sound, further establishing their reputation for innovative genre fusion during this breakthrough phase.

Recent developments

The COVID-19 pandemic disrupted Edge of Paradise's 2020 touring schedule, which had been planned to support their previous album, forcing the band to redirect their efforts toward new material creation and recording. This adaptation resulted in the release of their fourth studio album, The Unknown, on September 17, 2021, via Frontiers Music srl, an effort that emphasized thematic explorations of uncertainty and introspection shaped by the global crisis. In 2020, drummer Jamie Moreno joined the band, enhancing the rhythm section. Building on this momentum, Edge of Paradise issued their fifth album, Hologram, on July 14, 2023, also through Frontiers Music srl, which incorporated futuristic storytelling—complete with an accompanying —and amplified electronic production elements to heighten the band's cinematic sound. In a notable label transition, the band partnered with for their sixth , Prophecy, released on March 7, 2025, featuring production innovations such as 8-string guitars for greater intensity and singles including "Death Note" and "Prophecy Unbound."
