South Korean singer and songwriter Kang Daniel has released one studio album (which was reissued under a different title), ten extended plays (EPs)—seven of which were Korean, two of which were Japanese, and one in English—and more than 30 singles (including two features, five promotional singles, and four soundtrack appearances). As of August 2023, Kang has sold 2 million albums as a solo artist and an additional 4.2 million as a part of Wanna One.
Following the end of Wanna One's activities as a group, Kang released his first solo EP, Color on Me, in July 2019 under his newly formed one-man agency Konnect Entertainment.[1] The EP debuted at number one on South Korea's Gaon Album Chart and entered Japan's Oricon Albums Chart at number 23. It also broke two records selling over 500,000 physical copies within the first month of its release.[2][3] In March 2020, Kang released his second EP, Cyan, as the first installment of his "color trilogy" project. It peaked atop South Korea's Gaon Album Chart with its lead single "2U" giving Kang his first top ten track in Korea, which peaked at number seven on the Gaon Digital Chart.[4] His third EP, Magenta, was released in August 2020 and served as the second installment of his three-part color series.[5] The digital single "Paranoia", released in February 2021, marked Kang's first solo appearance on Billboard's World Digital Song Sales chart with the single debuting at number five. It also gave Kang his first top five track in Korea, which peaked at number two on the Gaon Digital Chart. In April 2021, Kang released his fourth overall EP, Yellow, as the final installment of his three-part project aimed to find his true colors as a solo artist. It peaked atop South Korea's Gaon Album Chart with its lead single "Antidote" giving Kang his first number one track on South Korea's Gaon Digital Chart.

Korean studio albums
Kang Daniel's debut Korean studio album, The Story, was released on May 24, 2022, by Konnect Entertainment in collaboration with Sony Music Korea. The album comprises ten tracks and represents a narrative progression in his discography, shifting from the color-themed extended plays to a cohesive storytelling concept centered on personal growth and introspection.[7] Commercially, The Story achieved significant success in the Korean market, debuting at number one on both the Hanteo and Circle Album Charts.[8] It sold 316,630 physical copies in its first week according to Hanteo data, marking one of the highest first-week sales for a solo artist album that year.[8] By the end of 2022, cumulative sales reached approximately 306,826 units on the Circle Chart.[9] The album's strong performance earned it a platinum certification from the Korea Music Content Association (KMCA) for surpassing 250,000 certified units. As of November 2025, The Story remains Kang Daniel's sole Korean studio album, with subsequent releases classified as extended plays.[5]Reissues
Kang Daniel has released one reissue of his studio albums as of November 2025. This repackaged edition expands on the original tracklist with new songs, remixes, and bonus content, while maintaining the core themes of personal narrative and emotional introspection from the base album.[10] The sole reissue, The Story: Retold, serves as a repackaged version of his debut studio album The Story, released on November 24, 2022, by Konnect Entertainment in formats including CD, digital download, and streaming. It features the original 10 tracks alongside four additions: the new title track "Nirvana" (featuring pH-1 and WDBZ), "Ghost," a remix of "Ride 4 U," and a solo version of "Nirvana." These new elements introduce collaborations and refreshed arrangements, enhancing the album's exploration of vulnerability and self-reflection, with "Nirvana" emphasizing themes of inner peace through its melodic production. Packaging updates include revised photobooks and versions (ON and OFF), distinct from the original's Arch-Plot, Anti-Plot, and Non-Plot editions.[11][12] Commercially, The Story: Retold achieved separate success from the original, debuting at number 2 on the Circle Album Chart for the week of December 1, 2022, and topping iTunes Top Albums charts in 18 regions including Japan, Taiwan, and Thailand. It sold 54,700 copies on its first day per Hanteo Chart data and amassed 94,530 total physical units by year-end 2022, surpassing 90,000 in its debut week according to Circle Chart figures. No certifications were reported specifically for the reissue.[13][11][14] As of November 2025, no reissues have been confirmed for Kang Daniel's subsequent albums such as ACT (2024) or Glow to Haze (2025), though repackages remain a potential strategy for extending promotional cycles in K-pop.[3]Extended plays
Korean extended plays
Kang Daniel's Korean extended plays form a cornerstone of his solo discography, marking his transition from Wanna One member to independent artist following the group's disbandment in 2019. These releases, primarily mini-albums containing 5-7 tracks, have showcased his evolution from vibrant, color-inspired concepts to more introspective and performance-oriented themes, consistently achieving commercial success in the domestic market through strong physical and digital sales. Released under Konnect Entertainment until 2023 and later ARA Inc., his EPs have topped or entered the top 10 of South Korea's Circle Album Chart (formerly Gaon), with early installments earning platinum certifications from the Korea Music Content Association (KMCA) for surpassing 250,000 units sold.[15] His debut EP, Color on Me, launched the color-themed trilogy that defined his initial solo era, emphasizing youthful energy and self-expression through tracks like the lead single "Touchin'." This series continued with Cyan and Magenta, exploring emotional depth and relationships, before culminating in Yellow, which blended retro aesthetics with personal growth narratives. Subsequent EPs like REALIEZ shifted toward reality and resilience themes, while ACT highlighted high-energy performances and stage presence, reflecting his background as a dancer. The 2025 release Glow to Haze further evolved this progression, incorporating hazy, transitional motifs amid a tracklist led by "Episode," underscoring his adaptability in a maturing solo career.[16][2][17] The following table summarizes key commercial data for Kang Daniel's Korean extended plays, focusing on domestic performance metrics:| Title | Release Date | Label | Peak on Circle Album Chart | First-Week Sales (Hanteo) | Cumulative Sales (Circle/Gaon) | Certifications |

Japanese extended plays
Kang Daniel entered the Japanese music market with his debut extended play Joy Ride, released on October 5, 2022, through Warner Music Japan in CD and digital formats.[30] The EP features six tracks, including the lead single "TPIR" featuring Japanese guitarist MIYAVI, as well as Japanese-language versions of previous hits like "Upside Down" and "Ride 4 U," and a collaboration "Loser" with Japanese rapper CHANMINA.[31] This release marked his first project tailored for Japanese audiences, blending original content with localized adaptations to appeal to international fans.[32] His second Japanese EP, Re8el (stylized in all caps), followed on November 29, 2023, also via Warner Music Japan in CD and digital formats.[33] Comprising four tracks, it includes the title track "Re8el," an original song "Worst Day Ever," and Japanese versions of "Supernova" and "SOS" from his Korean EP Realiez.[34] The EP was promoted through the "KANGDANIEL JAPAN SHOWCASE 2024 'RE8EL'" held on January 14, 2024, at NHK Hall in Tokyo, enhancing its visibility in the market.[35] Unlike Joy Ride, which emphasized collaborations with local artists, Re8el focused more on reinterpreting recent Korean material for Japanese listeners.| Title | Release date | Label | Format(s) | Peak chart positions | Sales |

Soundtrack appearances
Kang Daniel's soundtrack contributions began with his debut OST single in 2020, marking his entry into drama tie-ins as a solo artist. These releases typically feature his emotive vocals in ballads or mid-tempo tracks that enhance the emotional arcs of the associated media, from romantic comedies to action-oriented stories. In June 2020, Kang Daniel released "Something" as Part 1 of the Backstreet Rookie original soundtrack for the SBS rom-com drama of the same name, which aired that year. Performed solo and produced under Stone Music Entertainment, the song is a gentle R&B piece with lyrics about serendipitous love, mirroring the plot's focus on a convenience store romance between leads Ji Chang-wook and Kim Yoo-jung. It achieved strong digital performance, accumulating over 10 million streams on Melon within months of release.[60] His 2022 output included multiple OSTs, starting with "Hush Hush (feat. MIYAVI)" (Korean version) for the Disney+ drama Rookie Cops, released on March 9. As lead artist with Japanese guitarist MIYAVI as featured, the track blends rock and electronic elements to underscore themes of hidden identities and teamwork in police academy life, adapting from its original Japanese form on MIYAVI's 2021 album Imaginary. Distributed by MUSIC&NEW, it highlighted Kang Daniel's acting debut in the series.[61] Later that year, on August 23, "Remember Us" appeared on Street Man Fighter Original Vol. 2 for the Mnet dance competition show. A solo ballad released by Stone Music Entertainment, it explores nostalgia and unbreakable bonds, resonating with the program's crew dynamics and rivalries; Kang Daniel co-wrote the lyrics, adding personal touch. The song entered at No. 2 on Genius Korea's K-OST chart upon debut.[62] Concluding his 2022 OST work, "Last Forever" served as Part 2 for Work Later, Drink Now season 2 on tvN, released December 16 via Stone Music Entertainment. This solo acoustic track conveys timeless affection amid urban life's uncertainties, fitting the drama's blend of comedy, friendship, and romance featuring leads Im Si-wan and Lee Bo-young. It saw notable plays on Genie and Melon OST playlists.[63] As of November 2025, Kang Daniel has not released additional soundtrack singles, with his recent projects emphasizing original albums like the 2024 EP ACT and the 2025 EP Glow to Haze, though his acting roles continue to intersect with media soundscapes.[3]Other releases
Other charted songs
Several non-single tracks from Kang Daniel's extended plays have garnered significant attention on South Korean music charts, often driven by strong fan streaming and album sales momentum. These B-sides and album cuts frequently enter realtime and weekly rankings on platforms like Melon and Genie, as well as official download and digital charts from Gaon (now Circle Chart), reflecting their popularity beyond lead promotions. From his second EP Cyan (2020), the track "2U" emerged as a standout, debuting at No. 1 on the Gaon Download Chart for the week of March 22–28, 2020, and peaking at No. 7 on the Gaon Digital Chart overall. This success contributed to Cyan's triple crown achievement, with "2U" accumulating over 26 million digital points in its monthly tally. The song's upbeat vibe and replay value fueled fan-driven streaming campaigns, helping it maintain top positions amid competition from major releases. Kang Daniel's fourth EP Yellow (2021) saw even broader chart penetration, with every track debuting in the top 40 on the Gaon Download Chart. Non-lead tracks included "Save U" (featuring Wonstein) at No. 21 and "Digital" at No. 40, all benefiting from the album's No. 1 debut on the Gaon Album Chart and heightened listener interest in its color-themed narrative. These peaks underscored the EP's cohesive tracklist, where B-sides like "Save U" resonated through its collaborative rap elements and emotional lyrics.[64] In 2025, tracks from his sixth EP Glow to Haze continued this trend, with B-side "Love Game" entering Melon realtime charts at No. 45 upon release in June, supported by fan efforts during the album's promotional cycle. These performances align with Kang Daniel's established pattern of album-deep appeal, where non-singles often surge via dedicated streaming pushes, following the title track "Episode"'s No. 1 debut on the Circle Download Chart.[65]Songwriting credits
Kang Daniel has been actively involved in songwriting since his debut with Wanna One, where he co-wrote the track "Kangaroo" for their 2018 album 1÷x=1 (Undivided), marking his initial foray into lyrics that explored group dynamics and youth. As a solo artist, his contributions have primarily focused on lyric writing, often infusing personal introspection and emotional vulnerability, as seen in his debut EP Color On Me (2019), where he penned lyrics for all five tracks, including the title song "Color" and "What Are You Up To." This hands-on approach continued across his discography, evolving toward more collaborative processes in later releases like The Story (2022), for which he served as the primary lyricist on every song, delving into themes of self-discovery and resilience.[66] By 2023–2025, his songwriting expanded to include composition credits in select works, such as the English single "Mess" and digital single "NO DAY," reflecting a maturation in production involvement amid themes of inner conflict and hope.[67][68] The following table lists his verified songwriting credits, adapted from the Korea Music Copyright Association (KOMCA) and supplemented by track-specific details from official lyric sources.
