Family and upbringing
Natasha Klauss, born Natasha Alejandra Rastapkevicius Arrondo on June 25, 1975, in Cali, Colombia, was raised in a family of Uruguayan descent with Lithuanian and Russian roots.[6][7] Her parents, Víctor Rastapkevicius and Susana Arrondo, were Uruguayan nationals who had settled in Colombia over 50 years ago.[8][6] Her paternal grandparents had Lithuanian and Russian ancestry before the family emigrated to Uruguay.[6][9] Shortly after her birth, Klauss's family relocated to Barranquilla, Atlántico, where she spent her formative years and developed a strong sense of local identity.[6] As a child, she discovered a profound passion for dance, which shaped her early interests and led her to enroll in specialized dance classes.[1] This pursuit highlighted her artistic inclinations from a young age, though her family background emphasized resilience and adaptation, reflecting their immigrant heritage.[7] Klauss later adopted the professional surname "Klauss," derived from her brother's second name, to simplify her complex Lithuanian surname Rastapkevicius for broader accessibility in her career.[7] Her upbringing in Barranquilla fostered a connection to Colombian culture, despite her family's foreign origins, and she has often credited this environment for nurturing her early creative spirit.[6]Education and initial interests
Natasha Klauss developed a passion for dance during her childhood in Barranquilla, Colombia, where she began taking ballet classes as part of her school activities and later pursued more advanced training at a local academy.[10] Her dream was to become a professional ballerina, dedicating significant time to honing her skills in the discipline.[11] However, one year before completing her ballet training, Klauss suffered a severe knee injury in a car accident, which required surgery and ultimately ended her aspirations in dance.[10] Doctors advised her that continuing with ballet would be impossible due to the extent of the damage, prompting a pivotal shift in her career path.[12] Determined to pursue a creative profession, Klauss enrolled in acting studies at the prestigious Estudio XXI in Colombia, under the direction of maestro Paco Barrero.[13] She further enhanced her skills through workshops on character creation with actress Victoria Hernández, marking the beginning of her formal training in the performing arts.[10] This transition allowed her to channel her artistic interests into acting, leading to early participation in theater plays and her entry into the world of telenovelas.[13]Career
Early acting roles
Klauss began her acting career in the mid-1990s after a knee injury from a car accident ended her aspirations in professional ballet, prompting her to pivot toward performance arts. She trained at the prestigious Estudio XXI acting school in Bogotá under director Paco Barrero, where she honed her skills through theater workshops and stage performances before transitioning to television.[1][14] Her professional debut came in 1996 with supporting roles in two Colombian telenovelas: Prisioneros del Amor, where she portrayed Martha in a story centered on themes of love and captivity, and Señora Bonita, a family drama produced by RCN Televisión that marked her initial on-screen appearances alongside established actors like Linda Lucía Callejas.[15][16] That same year, Klauss appeared as Laura in Cazados, a suspense series exploring crime and pursuit narratives, further building her experience in ensemble casts. By 1998, she took on the role of Julieta Muñoz in Corazón Prohibido, a romantic drama that delved into forbidden relationships, showcasing her versatility in emotional supporting parts.[17][18] Klauss continued with minor yet notable roles into the early 2000s, including Amparito in La Caponera (1999–2000), a period piece about cockfighting culture and family intrigue produced by RTI Colombia, which highlighted her ability to embody resilient secondary characters. Her early television work, primarily in supporting capacities across these RCN and RTI productions, laid the groundwork for more prominent opportunities, emphasizing her growth from theater roots to serialized storytelling.[19][20]Breakthrough in telenovelas
Natasha Klauss achieved her breakthrough in the telenovela industry with her role as Sandra Guzmán in the 2002 Telemundo production La Venganza. In this series, she portrayed the loyal best friend of the protagonist, a complex character navigating themes of betrayal, love, and personal identity, including a groundbreaking depiction of a lesbian relationship at the time.[21] The role was her first significant supporting part after earlier minor appearances, earning her critical notice for its emotional depth and authenticity.[2] Building on this momentum, Klauss's performance propelled her to wider recognition and opened doors to lead roles. La Venganza, which aired from 2002 to 2003 and centered on a tale of vengeance following a tragic wedding incident, highlighted her versatility and helped establish her as an emerging talent in Colombian and international television.[22] Her stardom truly exploded the following year with the lead role of Sara "Sarita" Elizondo in Pasión de Gavilanes, a 2003 Telemundo telenovela that became a global phenomenon. As one of three sisters from a wealthy family entangled in a web of romance, revenge, and class conflict with the Reyes brothers, Klauss delivered a portrayal of resilience and passion that resonated deeply with viewers. The series, produced by RTI Colombia and aired across 188 episodes, achieved massive success, reaching audiences in over 120 countries and ranking among Telemundo's highest-rated programs of the era.[23] This role not only showcased Klauss's range in handling intense dramatic arcs but also cemented her as a household name in Latin American entertainment, leading to subsequent opportunities in high-profile projects. Pasión de Gavilanes exemplified the telenovela format's appeal through its blend of melodrama and cultural resonance, with Klauss's chemistry alongside co-stars like Danna García and Paola Rey contributing to its enduring legacy.[3]Recent projects
In recent years, Natasha Klauss has continued to build on her telenovela legacy with prominent roles in high-profile Colombian and international productions. Following Pasión de Gavilanes, she starred in several notable telenovelas, including the antagonist Priscila in La Tormenta (2005), Berta Soto in Los Herederos del Monte (2011), and Virginia in La Esclava Blanca (2016). In 2020, she portrayed Judge Amalia in the Telemundo series Operación Pacífico, a drama centered on anti-drug operations in Colombia, where her character contributed to the narrative's exploration of legal and ethical dilemmas in law enforcement. Klauss reprised one of her most iconic roles in 2022 as Sara "Sarita" Elizondo in the second season of Pasión de Gavilanes, the long-awaited sequel to the 2003 hit telenovela that aired on Telemundo. The season, which reunited much of the original cast including Michel Brown and Paola Rey, delved into the grown-up lives of the Elizondo sisters amid new family conflicts and romances, drawing significant viewership across Latin America and the U.S. despite mixed critical reception for deviating from the original's intensity.[3][23] That same year, she took on the role of Juliana in the comedy series Primate (2022–2024), produced by Caracol Televisión, which follows a group of middle-aged friends navigating life crises with humor and camaraderie; Klauss's performance as a supportive yet complex friend earned praise for adding emotional depth to the ensemble.[24] Her most recent television appearance came in 2024 as Paulina Valencia in Rojo Carmesí, a Canal RCN telenovela that examines ambition, betrayal, and romance in the business world. Airing from April to August, the series featured Klauss in a central antagonistic role, highlighting her versatility in portraying multifaceted women driven by personal and professional stakes.[25] In 2025, as of November, she is filming the series Juzgados for Canal TRO and starring in the film Contrakorriente, produced by Patagonia Films, which completed principal photography in September 2025.[4]Personal life
Marriages and relationships
Natasha Klauss was first married to Colombian television producer Víctor Gómez in 2000.[26] The couple welcomed their daughter, Isabel Gómez, in April 2000.[27] Their marriage ended in divorce in 2001.[28] In 2003, Klauss married Marcelo Greco, a businessman.[26] The couple had a daughter, Paloma Greco, born in April 2009.[27] They divorced in 2013.[26] Following the divorce, Greco relocated to Spain with their daughter Paloma, while Isabel, an adult by then, also resided there periodically.[29] Klauss began a relationship with businessman Daniel Gómez in 2020, announcing their engagement that December.[30] They married on June 17, 2022, marking her third marriage.[31] The couple lived together in Colombia and the United States.[32] In October 2025, Klauss publicly confirmed their separation, describing it as a deeply challenging experience that exacerbated her emotional distance from her daughters and led to a period of therapy for anxiety and depression.[33] She emphasized the separation's impact on her mental health but noted ongoing healing.[29]Children and family challenges
Natasha Klauss has two daughters from her previous marriages. Her first child, Isabel Gómez Rastapkevicius, was born in April 2000 to her first husband, Víctor Gómez. Her second daughter, Paloma Greco, was born in April 2009 to her second husband, Marcelo Greco.[27] Klauss's family life has been marked by several challenges stemming from her relationships and their impacts on her children. Her first marriage to Víctor Gómez, which produced Isabel, lasted only from 2000 to 2001 and ended in divorce, leaving her to navigate early motherhood as a single parent while building her acting career. The brevity of this union contributed to ongoing co-parenting dynamics that she has managed over the years.[28] Her second marriage, to her first cousin Marcelo Greco in 2003, presented significant familial and societal hurdles due to the consanguineous nature of their relationship. In a 2024 interview, Klauss detailed the opposition from extended family members and the external judgments they encountered, which required them to confront cultural taboos and personal doubts to sustain their union. Despite consulting medical professionals—who assured her there were no health risks for having children—they faced scrutiny that tested their resolve, ultimately leading to the birth of Paloma but ending in divorce in 2013. This period strained family ties and influenced co-parenting arrangements for Paloma.[34][35][36] More recently, Klauss's third marriage to Daniel Gómez in June 2022 ended in separation in 2025, exacerbating emotional and logistical challenges related to her daughters. The breakup, coupled with a move to the United States, distanced her from Isabel and Paloma, who reside in Spain primarily with Marcelo Greco, complicating her role as a mother during a time of personal upheaval. Klauss has openly shared experiencing profound grief, including persistent crying, anxiety, and depression, which prompted her to seek therapy and return to Colombia in late 2025 to reconnect with her support network and prioritize her mental health. She emphasized the guilt of being apart from her daughters during Paloma's adolescence and Isabel's young adulthood, viewing the separation as a catalyst for self-reconstruction amid multiple losses.[29][37]Filmography
