Vibra São Paulo (formerly known as Credicard Hall) is a music theatre in the Santo Amaro neighbourhood, city of São Paulo, Brazil. It opened in September 1999, with capacity for 7,000 people. Considered to be one of the largest indoor entertainment venues in Brazil and one of the largest in Latin America.[2] The 60th anniversary of Miss Universe 2011 pageant was held on September 12 that year at the hall. It used to be called Credicard Hall in most of its history, but its name changed in October 2019 due to a naming rights partner.[3] The theatre closed on March 31, 2021. On 1 April 2022, the reopening of the venue was announced under its new name Vibra São Paulo following an agreement between the new house manager, Opus Entertenimento, and the biofuel company Vibra Energia. The venue officially reopened in May.[4]

History

Construction and Opening

The planning and construction of what would become a landmark entertainment venue in began in the late , commissioned by Stage Empreendimentos to meet the growing demand for large-scale indoor performances in . The project was designed by the architecture firm Aflalo/Gasperini Arquitetos, emphasizing versatility for international-standard concerts, operas, and theatrical productions, with a focus on optimal acoustics and sightlines from all seats. Construction was executed by Construtora Moraes Dantas, resulting in a built area of 15,000 m² on a 25,000 m² site along the Marginal do Rio Pinheiros in the Vila Almeida neighborhood. The development incorporated advanced features such as a modular and retractable seating to accommodate diverse event formats, positioning it as a state-of-the-art facility for the city's cultural scene. The venue officially opened on September 29, 1999, under the name Credicard Hall, marking its debut as a major indoor space in . Its initial purpose was to serve as a premier and multi-purpose hall, hosting high-profile shows to elevate live options in . Originally named Credicard Hall after its sponsorship partner, the venue has since seen naming changes tied to subsequent ownership and management agreements.

Closure and Reopening

The Unimed Hall in announced its permanent closure on March 31, 2021, amid severe financial and operational difficulties exacerbated by the , which had halted live events and led to unsustainable losses for its operator, Time for Fun (T4F). The decision marked the end of over two decades of operations for the venue, previously known as Credicard Hall, as T4F cited the prolonged inactivity and economic fallout from restrictions on gatherings as key factors rendering continuation unviable. Following the closure, the venue entered a period of inactivity lasting from 2021 into early 2022, during which basic maintenance was performed to preserve the structure while awaiting potential new ownership or management arrangements. This hiatus allowed for minor upgrades to facilities, aligning with broader recovery efforts in Brazil's live entertainment sector as pandemic restrictions eased. The reopening was announced on April 1, 2022, under new management by Opus Entretenimento and with acquired by Vibra Energia, rebranding the space as Vibra São Paulo to reflect these partnerships. The first post-reopening events commenced in May 2022, starting with a performance by on May 14, signaling the venue's return amid a rebounding market for concerts and shows. Key to this revival were strategic alliances like the Opus agreement for operations and Vibra's sponsorship, coupled with improving conditions and renewed demand for live entertainment in .

This naming lasted until April 2018, when it reverted to Credicard Hall on April 22 under a renewed sponsorship deal with Credicard, lasting briefly until late 2019. The venue then adopted the name Unimed Hall in October 2019, sponsored by the cooperative Unimed, in celebration of its 20th anniversary. This sponsorship continued until 2022. On April 1, 2022, the venue was renamed Vibra São Paulo following a agreement with Vibra Energia, a major Brazilian energy distributor, aligning with its reopening under new management.

In 2022, management transitioned to Opus Entretenimento through a strategic agreement that positioned the company as the house manager, responsible for day-to-day administration, event curation, and facility improvements. Concurrently, Vibra Energia assumed a key sponsorship role via a four-year deal with Opus Entretenimento, rebranding the venue as Vibra São Paulo and integrating benefits like perks to support ongoing operations.
