They began dating in December 2011,[6] and had a son together in October 2012.[12] They split in 2014 when Tyga began a relationship with Kylie Jenner, leading to a number of social media feuds between Blac Chyna and Jenner that ended when Blac Chyna started dating Jenner's half-brother, Rob Kardashian, in 2016. In November 2016, she gave birth to their daughter.[6][13]

In December 2016, Kardashian announced on his Instagram post that he and Blac Chyna had split.[14] They reconciled a few days later, but separated again in February 2017. Angela Renée White (born May 11, 1988), professionally known as Blac Chyna, is an American model, entrepreneur, rapper, and television personality who initially gained recognition as an exotic dancer and urban model. Born in Washington, D.C., White began her career in her late teens working as a server at Hooters before transitioning to stripping at local clubs, which provided the financial means to briefly attend Johnson & Wales University in Miami for culinary arts, though she soon dropped out to pursue modeling full-time. Her breakthrough came through appearances in hip-hop music videos for artists such as Drake, Nicki Minaj, and Tyga, leveraging her distinctive look and stage name derived from her skin tone and eye color. White expanded into entrepreneurship with the launch of 88fin, an online clothing boutique in 2013, followed by her flagship beauty brand Lashed by Blac Chyna in 2014, which includes a line and a salon in Encino, offering makeup services and training. These ventures capitalized on her growing presence and modeling fame, establishing her as a self-made businesswoman independent of celebrity associations. She has also ventured into as a rapper and appeared on , including her own short-lived E! series in 2016 alongside then-partner , with whom she shares a daughter, Dream Renee Kardashian, born November 10, 2016; she previously had a son, King Cairo Stevenson, with rapper in 2012. White's public profile has been marked by high-profile relationships and ensuing legal disputes, particularly with the Kardashian-Jenner family, whom she accused of and contract interference over the cancellation of , seeking up to $108 million in damages but ultimately receiving none after a ruled in favor of the defendants in 2022. She separately sued for posting explicit images of her online in 2017, a case that settled out of court ahead of trial. These controversies, while amplifying her visibility, underscore the challenges of navigating fame tied to personal entanglements in the entertainment industry.

Background and entry into entertainment

Angela Renée White, professionally known as Blac Chyna, was born on May 11, 1988, in Her ethnicity includes African-American and Dominican ancestry. She is the daughter of Shalana Jones-Hunter, known professionally as Tokyo Toni, and Eric Holland.

She continued stripping for approximately six years, using the income to support her ambitions in modeling. After initially attending for two years while dancing part-time, she dropped out to focus on exotic dancing full-time. White's entry into professional modeling occurred in 2010 when she served as the stunt double for in the music video for Kanye West's "Monster," which featured prominently and provided her first notable mainstream exposure due to the physical resemblance and shared scenes. This role marked her transition from stripping to urban modeling circuits.

Rise to fame

Modeling and high-profile relationships

Chyna's entry into professional modeling occurred in 2010, with cover features in Dimepiece magazine, followed by appearances in Straight Stuntin' and Black Men's Magazine. These urban publications provided initial exposure, emphasizing her physique in a genre reliant on visual allure over diverse skill sets. Her traction in this niche led to recognition as Urban Model of the Year at the 2011 Urban Model Awards, an accolade tied to popularity within hip-hop-adjacent circles rather than broader fashion industry validation. Early romantic rumors with rapper Drake, dating back to encounters at a club in 2009, amplified her visibility; Chyna later credited Drake's mentions and associations for propelling her into modeling opportunities. Such links positioned her as a recurring figure in rap videos and events, where personal connections with artists drove demand for her as a , capitalizing on her appearance to secure roles over standalone modeling credentials. In late 2011, Chyna entered a relationship with rapper , which directly facilitated high-profile collaborations, including her casting as the lead female in his "Rack City" released that November. The partnership, rooted in mutual industry promotion, resulted in the birth of their son, King Cairo Stevenson, on October 16, 2012. This union further entrenched her in hip-hop's visual ecosystem, where relational proximity to established rappers overshadowed independent breakthroughs in traditional modeling.

Association with the Kardashian-Jenner family

Blac Chyna began dating in January 2016, marking her entry into the Kardashian-Jenner family's public orbit and significantly amplifying her visibility through their established media platform. The relationship, which followed Chyna's prior association with rapper (ex-boyfriend of ), generated immediate tabloid interest and social media buzz, positioning Chyna as a central figure in family-adjacent drama that boosted her profile beyond prior modeling and stripping endeavors. The couple announced their engagement in April 2016, leading to the E! reality series , which premiered on September 11, 2016, and chronicled their romance, Chyna's pregnancy, and interpersonal conflicts over seven episodes. Their daughter, Dream Renée Kardashian, was born on November 10, 2016, further intertwining Chyna's personal life with the family's narrative and providing content for the show, which capitalized on the couple's volatility to draw viewers. This association causally propelled Chyna's Instagram following to over 15 million at its peak during this period, enabling brand endorsements and media opportunities that she leveraged for financial gain, while benefited from renewed interest in Rob's storyline amid his personal struggles. The relationship ended tumultuously, with multiple separations culminating in a public meltdown on July 5, 2017, when posted explicit photos of Chyna on , which she described as a betrayal amid their ongoing co-parenting tensions. Chyna pursued spin-off show prospects post-Rob & Chyna, alleging family interference prevented renewal, though a 2022 jury rejected claims of defamation or sabotage by and siblings in influencing E! decisions. The dynamic exemplified mutual , with Chyna gaining fame adjacency to ' empire while exposing Rob to scrutiny that aligned with their reality TV format reliant on relational spectacle.

Career developments

Music and media appearances

Her discography consists primarily of independent singles released sporadically since 2018, including "Deserve" (2018), "Cash Only" featuring Trippie Redd (2020), "Doom" featuring (2021), "My Word" featuring Too $hort and (2020), "Can't See Me" (2022), and "Fabulous" (2024), available on platforms like and . None of these achieved significant commercial success or chart positions on major rankings, reflecting a limited impact in the industry despite collaborations with established rappers. Early in her entertainment career, Chyna appeared in music videos for prominent hip-hop artists, including serving as Nicki Minaj's stunt double in Kanye West's "Monster" (2010), as well as in Tyga's "Rack City" (2012) and Nicki Minaj's "Come on a Cone" (2012). These roles leveraged her modeling background but did not lead to substantial musical output of her own at the time. Her own music videos, tied to singles like "Doom" and "Cash Only," garnered modest YouTube views in the low millions but failed to propel her to mainstream rap prominence. In television, Chyna starred in the reality series , which premiered on July 14, 2019, on the , offering an unfiltered look at her personal and professional life. The show, featuring her mother Tokyo Toni and other associates, ran for one season of 10 episodes before concluding on October 6, 2019, amid reports of internal production issues, cast departures, and underwhelming viewership that contributed to its cancellation. Her on-screen roles remain minor, with no verified lead parts in feature films or scripted series as of 2025, underscoring the challenges in transitioning beyond reality formats.

Entrepreneurship and business attempts

In October 2014, Blac Chyna opened Lashed by Blac Chyna, a in Encino, California, focusing on lash extensions, makeup, and skincare services as an extension of her modeling persona. The venture capitalized on her personal brand in beauty, with the salon offering full beauty experiences including individual lash applications priced around $12.99 for various lengths. Chyna expanded into product sales with the Lashed Cosmetics line, debuting items like matte lipsticks, bronzers, and suited for different types, which received media coverage and promotional hype starting in 2016. By 2017, she released limited-edition collections such as a 12-lipstick , marketed through videos emphasizing long-lasting, pigmented formulas. However, the company's corporate status was suspended by the in 2018 for failure to file required statements and pay franchise taxes, halting official operations despite ongoing product availability via third-party sites. By June 2025, Chyna disclosed closing two Los Angeles-based businesses, including salon locations, attributing the decision to personal shifts following an protest involvement, underscoring operational challenges in maintaining physical retail amid fluctuating priorities. These efforts contributed to a net worth estimated at $1.5 million as of 2025, largely sustained by endorsements and influencer deals rather than sustained product revenue, reflecting mixed outcomes in scaling branded ventures beyond initial -driven buzz. Regulatory issues and closures highlight entrepreneurial risks, including compliance failures and market dependencies on personal fame, contrasting promotional narratives of diversified mogul status.

Relationships and children

Blac Chyna began a relationship with rapper in 2011, which lasted until 2015 and was marked by public ups and downs, including Tyga's subsequent involvement with . She dated starting in January 2016, leading to an in April of that year; their on-again, off-again romance ended in 2017 amid disputes and personal challenges. Chyna is the mother of two children: son King Cairo Stevenson, born October 16, 2012, with , and daughter Dream Renee Kardashian, born November 10, 2016, with . She maintains joint custody of both, emphasizing communication as key to co-parenting success, though past dynamics with have included visitation disputes and with Kardashian involved turbulent periods before stabilizing. In 2025, Chyna described co-parenting with both exes as "amazing" and "perfect," crediting open dialogue for smoother logistics despite earlier volatility. As of October 2025, interactions between Chyna and , including cryptic posts hinting at closeness, have fueled reconciliation rumors, with Chyna stating they are "going with the flow" while prioritizing co-parenting Dream. She has expressed openness to expanding her family, potentially with Kardashian, amid these developments.

Religious conversion and lifestyle changes

In May 2022, Angela Renée White, formerly known professionally as Blac Chyna, underwent at Sanctuary Church in on her 34th birthday, marking a public commitment to . She described the event as a rebirth, stating she had renounced involvement in the adult entertainment industry and sought to align her life with biblical principles, including ending production of explicit content. This followed personal struggles with , which she attributed to spiritual awakening prompted by prayer and counsel from her bishop. White deactivated her account in early 2023, citing her faith as the primary motivation and describing the platform's content as "degrading" and driven by prior financial "greed." Empirical indicators of this shift include the cessation of explicit posts, which had previously generated significant revenue, and a pivot toward faith-centered messaging on platforms like , where she shared verses and sobriety milestones since 2022. While some observers questioned the timing amid career transitions, her actions—such as dissolving facial fillers and reducing breast and gluteal implants in 2023—aligned with statements of rejecting past body modifications tied to her earlier image. By March 2023, White began consistently using her birth name, , in professional and personal contexts, framing it as a reclamation of identity post-conversion rather than a formal legal alteration. In August 2025, she was cast in the lead role of Bevelyn B. Williams, an anti-abortion activist, in the biopic , a decision that elicited from progressive commentators who viewed it as inconsistent with her prior but which White defended as reflective of her evolving convictions. These steps substantiate a sustained departure from explicit content, though interpretations vary on whether they stem purely from conviction or also from market repositioning after legal and professional setbacks.

Lawsuits involving the Kardashians

In October 2017, Blac Chyna, legally Angela White, filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles Superior Court against Kris Jenner, Kim Kardashian, Khloé Kardashian, and Kylie Jenner, seeking over $100 million in damages for alleged defamation, interference with prospective economic relations, and related claims including assault and battery. She contended that social media posts by the defendants—such as Kylie Jenner's December 2016 Instagram caption labeling Chyna a "stripper" and implying infidelity, alongside Kim Kardashian's tweets about the couple's issues—falsely portrayed her as abusive toward Rob Kardashian and sabotaged the renewal of her E! reality series Rob & Chyna after its first season, which had averaged 1.1 million viewers per episode. E! executives testified that the non-renewal stemmed from low ratings, the couple's breakup, and concerns over the relationship's volatility, not the family's posts. The trial commenced in April 2022, featuring testimony from family members and evidence such as text messages documenting Chyna's alleged threats and physical acts against , including holding a to his head, strangling him with an iPhone charging cord, and striking him with a . Chyna maintained she was the victim of by Rob, but the jury rejected this, finding no battery committed by him against her, which undermined her assertion that the family's statements were . On May 2, 2022, after approximately nine hours of deliberation, the jury ruled unanimously for the defendants on all counts, determining the posts were substantially true or protected opinion, caused no , and did not interfere with or proximately cause the show's cancellation; Chyna was awarded zero . In a related but distinct action filed the same month, Chyna sued for , alleging he violated Section 1708.85 by distributing explicit photos and a sex tape of her on to over 9.6 million followers in February amid their breakup, causing her emotional distress and reputational harm. Kardashian countersued in for , battery, , and computer hacking, citing incidents like Chyna allegedly punching him repeatedly and forcing him to view pornography at gunpoint, though he voluntarily dismissed most claims in February 2022 while maintaining the revenge porn defense. The case settled confidentially on June 20, 2022, hours before jury selection, averting trial.

Domestic violence claims and other disputes

In December 2016, Rob Kardashian alleged that Blac Chyna physically assaulted him during an argument by attempting to strangle him with a cell phone cord, beating him with a metal rod, and holding a gun to his head. Chyna denied initiating violence and testified that any actions involving the gun or cord were playful or non-threatening, such as wrapping the cord around his neck in jest. Kardashian filed a countersuit against Chyna for assault and battery in 2017, seeking damages for the alleged incidents, but voluntarily dismissed the case without prejudice in February 2022, citing the well-being of their daughter as a factor. Chyna has reciprocally accused Kardashian of during their relationship, including claims of him throwing furniture and causing injuries, though these formed part of broader litigation where no criminal convictions resulted for either party. In September 2024, Chyna's ex-partner Taiyon Hector, known professionally as Twin, filed a against her in Superior Court alleging , civil , and battery sustained over their nearly three-year relationship from 2021 to 2024. Hector claimed Chyna repeatedly became physically violent toward him, particularly when intoxicated, including incidents of scratching, punching, and throwing objects, attributing her behavior to long-standing anger issues exacerbated by . He seeks $10 million in damages for emotional distress, medical costs, and lost wages. As of October 2025, Chyna has not publicly countersued Hector but has a history of alleging by former partners in response to such claims. Separate from partner disputes, Chyna engaged in a protracted custody battle with ex-fiancé over their son King Cairo Stevenson, born in 2012, filing petitions in 2023 to establish parental rights after years of informal arrangements. The conflict involved mutual accusations of uncooperativeness, with Chyna claiming Tyga refused out-of-court settlements and Tyga publicly criticizing her amid the proceedings; it resolved in December 2023 with joint legal and physical custody, no payments from Tyga, and Chyna completing a court-ordered education course. These legal entanglements, alongside multiple assault-related filings involving romantic partners, illustrate a pattern of frequent litigation in Chyna's personal affairs following her rise to prominence.

Reception

Achievements and cultural impact

Blac Chyna received the Model of the Year award at the 2011 Urban Model Awards, recognizing her prominence as an urban model in hip-hop circles following appearances in music videos such as Kanye West's "Monster" in 2010. This accolade highlighted her role in increasing visibility for models from urban backgrounds in mainstream media, where she transitioned from niche stripping and video work to broader endorsements. In , she launched Lashed by Blac Chyna, a salon chain specializing in extensions, facials, and services, which expanded to locations including Encino, , and contributed to her entrepreneurial footprint in the beauty sector. The venture aligned with her around enhanced beauty looks, including bold makeup and hair styles that echoed hip-hop aesthetics, such as platinum blonde at events like VH1's Hip Hop Honors in 2017. Her Instagram account amassed over 16 million followers by the mid-2010s, peaking amid reality TV exposure from in 2016, where she influenced beauty trends like glossy lips and dramatic lashes within hip-hop and celebrity spheres. This digital presence amplified her as a trendsetter for urban beauty standards, evidenced by product lines like lip kits launched in 2017. Following her into on May 11, 2022, Chyna's public embrace of faith marked a pivot toward redemption-oriented narratives, including quitting and pursuing projects aligned with conservative values. In 2025, she took her first lead film role as pro-life activist Bevelyn Beatty Williams in , a biopic depicting the activist's prison time for protesting at abortion clinics, extending her influence into faith-based and outreach audiences. This casting, amid her self-described "life-changing journey," positioned her story as an example of personal transformation from excess to spiritual advocacy.

Criticisms and professional setbacks

Blac Chyna's forays into music, including attempts to establish herself as a rapper, have met with commercial failure and limited audience reception, as noted by associates who attributed the lack of success to her own decisions and inconsistent efforts. Her reality series , which aired one season on E! in 2017, was canceled amid claims of low ratings and complications from a she filed against co-star , rendering further filming untenable. Critics have argued that Chyna's rise to prominence relied heavily on romantic associations with celebrities such as and , rather than standalone talent in modeling, music, or other fields, a view echoed in analyses of her career trajectory. Business endeavors faced operational hurdles, exemplified by the 2018 suspension of her Lashed brand's due to unpaid taxes and failure to file returns, contributing to perceptions of mismanagement. In August 2025, Chyna's casting as pro-life activist Bevelyn B. Williams in the biopic —a role depicting opposition to abortion—elicited backlash from left-leaning outlets and commentators, who highlighted inconsistencies with her earlier career featuring explicit content and urban modeling. She responded by stating she set aside personal views for the portrayal and anticipated handling the criticism. Multiple allegations of physical aggression by Chyna have fueled ongoing professional scrutiny, including a September 2024 lawsuit from ex-boyfriend Taiyon "Twin" Hector accusing her of a violent while he slept, leaving him bloodied and swollen, amid claims of her pattern of alcohol-fueled anger issues. During the over her Kardashian lawsuit, testified that she held a to his head and exhibited violent , countering her narrative as a victim and raising questions about credibility in such claims. These incidents, reported across outlets, have been cited as undermining her public image as an advocate against .
