She attended Grammy Camp in Nashville where she performed at the Bluebird Café and was a featured performer in the 2016 Thanksgiving Day Parade in Charlotte.[10] In June 2018, she graduated from Cannon School.[11] In the fall of 2018, she enrolled in a songwriting program at Belmont University.[12][4] In September 2018, she sang The Star-Spangled Banner at Oriole Park at Camden Yards.[1] In 2019, she signed with Pound It Out Loud Entertainment.[13] Faith's first song titled "Leaving Tennessee" debuted in July 2020, and was followed by "Sinners in a Small Town" and "Easy Pill" later that year.[12] In October 2020, she signed an artist development deal with Altadena, a record company founded by busbee.[12] "The Dusk Session", which included acoustic versions of "Easy Pill" and "Leaving Tennessee", was released in April 2021. In July 2021, she made her first performance at the Ryman Auditorium.[2] On August 20, 2021, she released her debut EP Let Love Be Love.[6][14][15] In September 2021, she was the opening act for The Avett Brothers at Oriole Park at Camden Yards.[4] She graduated from Belmont University in December 2021.[14][9]
In March 2022, she signed a publishing deal with Universal Music Group Nashville.[13] Also in March 2022, she was named Country Rookie of the Month by Billboard.[9] In June 2022, she made her debut at the Grand Ole Opry.[16] In November 2022, she released the single "Already Crazy", which she co-wrote with Tofer Brown and Lauren Hungate.[14]
Faith's debut album, Cherry Valley, was released via MCA Nashville on October 3, 2025.[17] It received acclaim from critics, and was nominated for the Academy of Country Music Award for Album of the Year at the 61st Academy of Country Music Awards, making Faith the first artist in over ten years to be nominated for the award with their debut album (following Chris Stapleton's Traveller in 2015).[18]

Early life
Carter Faith was born Carter Faith Jones on June 14, 2000, in Davidson, North Carolina.[1] She grew up in a close-knit, non-musical household with her parents, an older sister, and a younger brother, Griffin Jones, who later pursued music under the stage name Grifdorf.[5] Despite her family's lack of professional musical involvement, Faith discovered solace in music from a young age, primarily through her grandfather's collection of country cassette tapes, which he played during drives to preschool.[1] She taught herself to play guitar and piano as a child and began singing informally, with no formal training in those early years.[6] This self-directed exploration allowed her to process emotions in a household where music served more as background than a central focus. Her childhood in the small town of Davidson, located near Charlotte amid a mix of rural landscapes, beaches, and mountains, profoundly shaped her worldview and later creative output.[6] The close community fostered an environment rich with interpersonal dynamics, inspiring recurring themes of heartbreak, local rumors, and everyday rural life in her songwriting.[4] Faith later attended Cannon School in nearby Concord for her education.Education
Faith attended Cannon School, a private preparatory institution in Concord, North Carolina, where she completed her high school education and graduated as part of the Class of 2018 in June.[7] During her high school years, Faith balanced her academic commitments with her burgeoning interest in country music, identifying as a singer and engaging in early musical activities in her hometown of Davidson.[8] After high school, she relocated to Nashville, Tennessee, at age 18 to pursue higher education, enrolling in the fall of 2018 in Belmont University's songwriting program, which offered specialized training in composition, lyrics, and performance techniques essential to the music industry.[9][10] This move immersed her in Nashville's vibrant professional music community while allowing her to continue developing her craft through university resources, including collaborative songwriting sessions and performance opportunities.[11] Faith graduated from Belmont University in December 2021 with a degree in songwriting, marking the completion of her formal education.[12]Career
Beginnings and early releases (2018–2020)
Carter Faith's professional career began in 2018 when, as a 17-year-old high school senior, she performed "The Star-Spangled Banner" at Oriole Park at Camden Yards during a Baltimore Orioles game against the Boston Red Sox.[13] This debut performance marked her initial foray into public stages and garnered early attention for her vocal abilities.[14] In 2019, Faith signed her first management deal with Pound It Out Loud Entertainment, a Nashville-based company that supported her transition into the country music scene.[15] This partnership provided her with foundational resources to develop her artistry amid her move to Nashville. Her enrollment at Belmont University further facilitated key connections in the city's music community.[16] Faith released her debut single, "Leaving Tennessee," on July 31, 2020, under the Pound It Out Loud imprint.[17] The track, which explores themes of wanderlust and returning to one's roots, drew from her North Carolina upbringing in Davidson, where she first honed her songwriting on topics of leaving home and personal growth.[18] Later that year, in October 2020, Faith signed an artist development deal with Altadena Music, the company founded by the late producer busbee.[19] This agreement enhanced her visibility in Nashville, positioning her for broader opportunities in songwriting and recording.[20]Debut EP and rising recognition (2021–2023)
In April 2021, Faith released The Dusk Sessions, a three-track acoustic EP that previewed her emerging sound with stripped-down versions of originals like "Easy Pill" and "Leaving Tennessee."[21] In August 2021, as a senior at Belmont University, Carter Faith released her debut EP, Let Love Be Love, on August 20 via Altadena/Pound It Out Loud, a label partnership that stemmed from her 2019 signing.[22][23] The six-track collection, produced by Ben West, showcases Faith's blend of country-pop influences with introspective lyrics about love and self-discovery, drawing from her songwriting collaborations with writers like Margaret Valentine and Jen Stegall.[22][24] The EP's tracklist includes:- "Joyride"
- "Buzzkilla"
- "Cowboys & Dreamers"
- "Lasso"
- "I Just Wanna Dance"
- "Pipe Dream"
Debut album and expansion into acting (2024–present)
In 2024, Faith released the five-track EP The Aftermath on October 11 via Capitol Records Nashville, exploring themes of love, loss, and resilience with collaborations including Alison Krauss on "Blue Bird."[32] In June 2025, Carter Faith announced her debut studio album, Cherry Valley, set for release on October 3 via Gatsby Records, an imprint of MCA Nashville, marking a significant milestone in her transition to major-label status.[33] The album, produced by her longtime collaborator Tofer Brown, features 15 tracks co-written with notable songwriters including Jessie Jo Dillon, Ashley Monroe, and Jessi Alexander, exploring themes of heartbreak, hometown rumors, and personal truths drawn from Faith's experiences in North Carolina and Nashville.[34][35][4] The lead single, "Sex, Drugs and Country Music," was unveiled alongside the announcement, setting the tone for the album's bold, narrative-driven songwriting that critics praised for its vivid storytelling and emotional depth.[33][36] Upon release, Cherry Valley received acclaim for Faith's confident lyricism and genre-blending production, with reviewers highlighting tracks like "Cherry Valley" and "Bar Star" as standouts that capture a sense of whimsical yet introspective wanderlust.[37][38] Extending the Cherry Valley era into the holiday season, Faith released the two-song collection A Cherry Valley Holiday on November 7, 2025, featuring a cover of The Eagles' "Please Come Home for Christmas" and an original track, "Nothin' for Christmas," which blends festive warmth with her signature heartfelt introspection.[39] Parallel to her music career, Faith expanded into acting with her debut role in the Netflix thriller Heartland, announced in September 2025, where she co-stars as the missing niece alongside Jessica Chastain and John Hawkes in a story of family secrets and rural mystery.[40] Filming for the project began later that month, representing Faith's first foray into film and showcasing her versatility beyond country music.[41]Discography
