Early life

[edit]

Madison Elle Beer[8] was born in Jericho, New York,[9] to a Jewish family on March 5, 1999.[10]

Her father, Robert Beer, is a real estate developer, and her mother, Tracie, worked as an interior designer before putting that aside to help navigate Madison's career.[11] She has a younger brother named Ryder.[12]

Beer appeared on the cover of Child magazine after winning a modeling competition at four years old.[13] When she was around six or seven years old, she was sexually abused by someone who was around her frequently.[14] Her parents divorced when she was seven.[15] She celebrated her bat mitzvah in 2012.[16][17]

2012–2018: Career beginnings and As She Pleases

[edit]
Beer in September 2014

Beer began posting videos on YouTube of her singing covers of popular songs in early 2012.[18] They gained the attention of Justin Bieber, who tweeted a link to her cover of Etta James's "At Last" to his followers. This caused Beer to trend worldwide on Twitter and gain substantial media coverage.[19] Bieber signed Beer personally to the record label to which he is signed, Island Records,[20] and at the time she was managed by Bieber's manager Scooter Braun.[21]

Beer partnered with Monster High, and recorded a theme song for the franchise titled "We Are Monster High". In February 2013, Cody Simpson re-released his song "Valentine" with Beer, which was played on Radio Disney,[22][23] but was never officially released. On September 12, 2013, Beer released her debut single and music video called "Melodies" which was written by Peter Kelleher, Ben Kohn, Thomas Barnes and Ina Wroldsen.[24] The video featured a guest appearance by Bieber.

Beer began work on her debut album which was slated to have pop and R&B influences, stating there "will be slow songs, sad songs, happy songs, songs about boys, and songs about being who you are. I'm making sure I'm happy with all of the songs, because if I am not happy with them, I can't expect anyone else to be, you know?"[25] The album is believed to have been scrapped.[26]

"Unbreakable" was the second single released by Beer.[27] The song was released on June 17, 2014, and was written by Jessica Ashley, Evan Bogart, Heather Jeanette Miley, Matt Schwartz, Emanuel Kiriakou and Andrew Goldstein and was produced by the latter two.[28] On February 16, 2015, it was announced that Beer was set to be a featured artist in a new single by DJs Mako titled "I Won't Let You Walk Away".[29] The song was released for digital download on February 24, 2015, along with a music video.[30][31] The song reached number 43 on the Hot Dance/Electronic Songs, number 33 on the Dance/Electronic Digital Songs, and number 19 on the Dance/Mix Show Airplay charts in the United States.[32] On September 24, 2015, Beer released "All For Love" featuring American duo Jack & Jack.[33]

Beer at the 2018 MTV Video Music Awards

Beer recorded her EP, titled As She Pleases, over a three-year period. It was released on February 2, 2018. The same month, she walked the runway for Dolce & Gabbana Fall 2017 show at Milan Fashion Week.[34] "Dead" was released as the lead single from the EP on May 19, 2017. The music video was later released on August 3, 2017.[35] Beer then released "Say It to My Face" as the second single from the EP on November 3, 2017. The music video was released on November 15, 2017.[36]

On March 10, 2018, "Home with You" was released as the third and final single from the EP. In August 2018, the song peaked at number No. 21 on the Billboard Mainstream Top 40 chart, making her the only female solo artist on the charts without a major music label.[37] She made her official festival debut at Lollapalooza on August 2, 2018, in Chicago.[38] Beer was featured on "Blame It On Love", a song from French DJ David Guetta's seventh studio album 7. The video game developer Riot Games released a song and music video for "Pop/Stars" on November 3, 2018. The song is performed by Beer, Miyeon, and Soyeon from (G)I-DLE and Jaira Burns under a virtual K-pop group named K/DA. This song was used as a theme song for the online game League of Legends towards the end of 2018.[39] On November 9, 2018, Beer released "Hurts Like Hell" featuring American rapper Offset.[40]

2019–2023: Life Support and Silence Between Songs

[edit]
Beer at the iHeartRadio Music Awards in 2019

Beer was featured on "All Day and Night" by DJs Jax Jones and Martin Solveig under their alias Europa. This song was released on March 28, 2019.[41] On May 17, 2019, Beer released the single "Dear Society".[42] The single was initially meant to be included on the track list of her debut album,[43] but was ultimately removed from the final track listing.[44] On August 9, 2019, Beer announced on her Instagram account that she had signed with Epic Records.[45]

In January 2020, she released "Good in Goodbye" as the lead single from her debut studio album, Life Support.[26][46] This was followed by its second single "Selfish" – which reached number nineteen on the US Bubbling Under Hot 100 chart and impacted contemporary hit radio in the United States later[47] – and the promotional single "Stained Glass"; Beer co-directed the music video of the latter.[48] The former would later be certified Gold by the RIAA in the United States.[49] She released the third single from the album, "Baby", on August 21, 2020.[50] In September 2020, cosmetics retailer Morphe launched a collection with Beer called Morphe x Madison Beer.[51] On October, she reprised her role in K/DA as Evelynn and was featured on two tracks for the EP All Out: "More" along with the original lineup and Lexie Liu, and "Villain" which also features German singer Kim Petras.[52][53] The fourth single from Life Support, "Boyshit", was released in December 2020.[54] Alongside the song's release, she announced the release date for the album.[55] Beer was announced as Vevo's new LIFT artist in December 2020.[56] In support of the campaign, live performances for previous singles "Selfish" and "Boyshit" were released that same month. A short film for the campaign titled Dreams Look Different in the Distance was released in January 2021.[57][58]

Life Support was released on February 26, 2021, which Beer co-wrote entirely and co-produced most of the record as well.[59] The album received generally favorable critic reviews with Dani Blum of Pitchfork calling it "ambitious yet shallow, seemingly intent on proving its own seriousness".[60] NME's Hannah Mylrea was more favorable and gave it 4/5 stars.[61] Riff Magazine's Mike DeWald gave the album an 8/10, saying "It may have been years in the making, but Madison Beer's first album is worth the wait for pop fans."[62] The album debuted at number sixty-five on the US Billboard 200, and also peaked in the top thirty on both the Canadian Albums and OCC UK Albums charts.[63][64] That same month, Beer confirmed in a podcast interview with The Zach Sang Show that she had already started working on the follow-up to Life Support, saying "We have seven songs on the second album already, and we had four days of a writing camp."[65] In May 2021, she announced a North American tour, titled The Life Support Tour, in support of her album, however, the following month she extended it to a European leg.[66] Maggie Lindemann and musician Audriix served as the opening acts for the North American leg while Leah Kate served as the European leg opener. The tour began in late October that year in Toronto, Canada and ended in late November in Los Angeles with the European leg picking up towards the end of March 2022 in Madrid, Spain and concluding by late April in Oslo, Norway.[67][68]

In June 2021, Beer released the song "Reckless", set to be the lead single of her then-upcoming second studio album.[69] The song was met with critical acclaim for its lyrical content and vulnerability, and peaked in the top forty on the Billboard US Mainstream Top 40.[70][71] Later that month, Beer co-founded Know Beauty, a DNA personalization–based skincare brand, with Vanessa Hudgens.[72] In August, she launched a 90s–inspired clothing collection in collaboration with British e-commerce fashion retailer Boohoo.[73][74] On November 4, 2021, Beer released her first soundtrack song, "Room for You", as part of the film Clifford the Big Red Dog's soundtrack album, which was released later that month.[75] In July 2022, Beer appeared in a cameo alongside various internet personalities in the music video for "Dolls", the title track and third single from singer and social media personality Bella Poarch's debut extended play of the same name.[76] On July 22, 2022, Beer released the song, "I Have Never Felt More Alive" which featured in the film Fall.[77][non-primary source needed]

By mid 2022, Beer revealed to Manchester Evening News that her upcoming second studio album was "coming together really nicely" and she was working on songs for it.[78] Her second studio album Silence Between Songs was released on September 15, 2023,[79] and preceded by the additional singles "Dangerous",[80] "Showed Me (How I Fell In Love With You)",[81] "Home to Another One", and "Spinnin". In 2024, she also embarked on a European and North American tour titled The Spinnin Tour in support of the album.[82]

In February 2023, Beer announced her memoir The Half of It, which was published by HarperCollins on April 25, 2023.[83]

2024–present: Locket

[edit]

Throughout 2024, Beer released two solo singles, "Make You Mine" and "15 Minutes". "Make You Mine" topped the charts on the US Dance/Mix Show Airplay chart and peaked at number 10 on the US Pop Airplay Chart. It also received a nomination for Best Dance Pop Recording at the 67th Annual Grammy Awards.[84] These were followed by the singles "Yes Baby" and "Bittersweet" in 2025.[85] In October, Beer announced her third studio album Locket, set to be released on January 16, 2026.[86]

Artistry and influences

[edit]

Beer has stated that her inspirations in her music and songwriting are Arctic Monkeys,[87] Lana Del Rey, Daft Punk, Melanie Martinez, Lady Gaga,[88] and Ariana Grande. When questioned if she was inspired by Grande, Beer responded "I mean, you know Ariana's been one of my favorite people ever for like, so much of my career and like, even just prior to my career, so I'm sure she's definitely influenced me, a lot. ... But, I hate this narrative that's being pushed about me and her, you know, that it's kinda like this competition thing, like this is someone I idolize and someone I look up to."[65]

Personal life

[edit]
Beer with boyfriend and NFL player Justin Herbert, 2025

In 2016, Beer discussed her sexuality in a YouNow chat, stating, "I'm not a lesbian, but I definitely love girls," and that she has been in love with a woman in the past.[89] She addressed her sexuality again in a March 2020 TikTok livestream, in a question asking if she is bisexual, she noted that "came out, like, four years, three years ago", adding that "I am bi, always have been; it's nothing new".[90][91] Beer was in a relationship with Jack Gilinsky of Jack & Jack from 2015 to 2017.[92] She briefly dated Brooklyn Beckham after her breakup with Gilinsky.[93] She was in an on-and-off relationship with Zack Bia from late 2017 to early 2019.[94] Beer was in an on-and-off relationship with internet personality Nick Austin in the summer 2020 to May 2025.[95]

Beer has struggled with mental health issues and stated that social media and the internet have contributed to them. She has engaged in self-harm and has been diagnosed with borderline personality disorder (BPD).[96] When Beer was 15, nude videos of her were leaked online. The incident, which she says reminded her of the sexual abuse she experienced as a child, contributed to her developing post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and attempting suicide twice.[14][97]

In January 2024, Beer took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to express her views on the Israeli–Palestinian conflict. In her post, she stated, "If you think I'd ever want an innocent person to be killed, you do not know me, and that is simply outrageous." She further said, "You can be Jewish and also want peace for all people, including Palestinian people, which is, of course, what I want. No innocent person deserves to die."[98][99] Beer resides in Los Angeles.[100] As of 2025, she is dating NFL quarterback Justin Herbert.[101]

Madison Elle Beer (born March 5, 1999) is an American singer, songwriter, and producer. She first attracted widespread attention at age 12 when Justin Bieber shared a link to her cover of "At Last" on YouTube, leading to a signing with Island Records. Beer released her debut EP As She Pleases in 2018, followed by her first studio album Life Support in 2021 after signing with Epic Records. Her second album, Silence Between Songs, arrived in 2023, showcasing her evolution toward introspective pop with themes drawn from personal experiences. She has achieved platinum sales and received two Grammy nominations for her work. Throughout her career, Beer has navigated significant personal challenges, including the leak of private nude photos as a teenager, which contributed to severe struggles and a contemplation at age 16. These events, amid early industry pressures and a eventual label parting from , underscore the causal toll of rapid fame on young artists, as detailed in her memoir . Despite such setbacks, she has built a dedicated fanbase through authentic songwriting and independent production elements in her releases.

Background

Early life and family

Madison Elle Beer was born on March 5, 1999, in Jericho, a hamlet on Long Island in New York, to parents Robert and Tracie Beer. Her family is Ashkenazi Jewish, with Robert working as a real estate developer and luxury home builder, and Tracie employed as an interior designer who later invented the contour hanger, a clothing hanger designed to prevent garment slipping. The couple had one additional child, Madison's younger brother Ryder, born on May 3, 2002; they divorced shortly thereafter. Beer grew up in Jericho amid a middle-class suburban environment typical of Long Island, where she developed an early interest in music, teaching herself to play instruments and spending summers at sleepaway camps. She faced social challenges in school, including teasing due to academic struggles, which she attributed to prioritizing creative pursuits over traditional studies. Ultimately, Beer was homeschooled but earned a high school degree from Jericho High School, her local public institution. At age 12, a friend's connection provided access to a in , allowing her initial exposure to professional music production and foreshadowing her career trajectory. Her parents supported these early endeavors, with Tracie facilitating opportunities despite the 's post-divorce dynamics.

Jewish heritage and cultural influences

Madison Beer was born on March 5, 1999, in Jericho, New York, to Jewish parents Robert Beer, a real estate developer of primarily Ashkenazi Jewish descent with Sephardi roots through his mother, and Tracie Beer, an interior designer of Ashkenazi Jewish ancestry. Her paternal grandmother was born in Casablanca, Morocco, to Sephardi Jewish parents Salomon Ouaknine and Rachelle Benarroch, contributing approximately one-quarter Sephardi Jewish heritage overall, while the remaining ancestry traces to Ashkenazi Jewish immigrants from Poland, Russia, and Austria. The family observed Jewish traditions, with her parents divorcing when she was seven years old. Beer underwent a Bat Mitzvah ceremony in 2012, themed around "," during which she performed an original song titled "Life’s a Beat." She also attended Point O’Pines, a sleep-away camp in frequented by Jewish children, which contributed to her personal development during her pre-teen years. These experiences reflect an upbringing immersed in Jewish communal and familial practices, including social media acknowledgments such as using #MazelTov in posts dating back to 2013. In interviews, Beer has attributed aspects of her success and resilience to her Jewish family background, noting encounters with surprise or prejudice regarding her identity after relocating to at age 13. While her professional music career draws from broader pop and R&B influences, early markers like the Bat Mitzvah performance indicate an integration of personal creativity with Jewish rite-of-passage traditions.

Career

Discovery and early recordings (2012–2018)

Madison Beer began posting cover songs on in early 2012, gaining initial online traction with renditions of established tracks including ' "." On July 17, 2012, shared a link to her "At Last" cover via , exposing her talent to his millions of followers and marking her rapid ascent in the music industry. This viral moment led to a multi-year exclusive recording contract with , finalized in December 2012, with management handled by , who also oversaw Bieber's career. Her debut single, "Melodies," produced by the team behind Bieber's hits, was released digitally on September 12, 2013, alongside an official directed toward a teen audience. The track received airplay on but did not achieve significant commercial breakthrough. From 2014 to 2016, Beer's recorded output under Island Def Jam was minimal, consisting primarily of a guest vocal feature on Cody Simpson's single "Valentine," released in February 2014. This period reflected challenges in support and artistic direction, as later recounted by Beer herself, contributing to a five-year gap between her debut single and subsequent major releases. In May 2017, Beer released "Dead" as her first independent single, marking a departure from prior label constraints and showcasing a more mature pop-R&B style. This was followed by "Say It to My Face" on November 3, 2017, with an accompanying emphasizing confrontational themes in relationships. These tracks previewed her debut , As She Pleases, issued on February 2, 2018, via Access Records, comprising seven songs that blended electronic, hip-hop, and influences, produced by collaborators including Monsters & Strangerz. The EP's singles, including "Home with You," received moderate streaming attention but highlighted Beer's growing autonomy in song selection and production.

Breakthrough with Life Support (2019–2022)

In August 2019, Madison Beer signed a recording contract with Epic Records, marking a significant step following her independent releases. This deal came after she had built a fanbase through EPs like As She Pleases (2018), which amassed millions of streams independently. Beer released several singles leading to her debut album, including "Good in Goodbye" on January 31, 2020, "Selfish" on February 14, 2020, "Baby" on August 21, 2020, and "Boyshit" on December 11, 2020. "Selfish" achieved platinum certification by the RIAA, highlighting early commercial traction. Life Support, her debut studio album, was released on February 26, 2021, via . The 17-track project debuted on the , becoming her highest-charting release at the time and accumulating over one billion streams globally. It peaked at number 13 on the Billboard Emerging Artists chart post-release. Critical reception was mixed; Pitchfork awarded it 5.9 out of 10, praising vocal elements but critiquing the album's exploration of borderline personality disorder as conceptually loose. Other outlets found it a "pleasant surprise" blending indie, EDM, pop, and pop-rock styles, with impressive performances. Beer promoted the album with a virtual concert, Life Support In Concert, in March 2021, featuring a digital avatar and live band for an intimate yet dramatic presentation. The Life Support Tour commenced on October 18, 2021, in Toronto, Canada, and concluded on April 28, 2022, in Oslo, Norway, spanning North America and Europe. Reviews highlighted strong audience engagement and stage design, including thematic elements like a tree swing, contributing to her growing live reputation. This period solidified Beer's transition from social media discovery to established artist, with the album's success validating her major-label pivot.

Maturity and expansion: Silence Between Songs to Locket (2023–present)

Madison Beer's second studio album, Silence Between Songs, was released on September 15, 2023, through Epic Records, comprising 14 tracks including previously issued singles like "Reckless" from 2021. The album featured contributions from producers and reflected Beer's continued evolution in pop and alternative styles, with tracks such as "Spinnin," "Sweet Relief," and "Envy the Leaves." It debuted on the UK Albums Chart, marking her growing commercial presence. To promote the album, Beer embarked on in 2024, which concluded with a sold-out performance at the Greek Theatre in on June 13, 2024. The tour showcased material from alongside earlier hits, demonstrating her live performance capabilities to larger audiences. In 2025, Beer released singles "Yes Baby" and "Bittersweet," signaling ongoing activity ahead of her next project. On October 22, 2025, she announced her third studio album, , scheduled for release on January 16, 2026, via , consisting of 11 tracks. To promote Locket, Beer hosted a secret listening event in Los Angeles on January 9, 2026, attended by select fans who received signed posters, tote bags, and Polaroids, with attendees sharing outtakes from the album's photoshoot. On January 13, 2026, Beer made her late-night television debut with a live performance of her upcoming single "Bad Enough" on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Beer described the album as a source of personal pride, highlighting her expanded role in writing and production. During the iHeartRadio Album Preview in January 2026, she disclosed that she recorded the demo for "You're Still Everything" using heavy auto-tune because she could not stop crying while singing the intro, and later grew attached to the effect when re-recording it. In a January 2026 interview, she stated she would be disappointed if Locket lacked chart recognition, as she believes it deserves success, but emphasized that she no longer ties her self-worth to commercial metrics. This phase represents further maturation in her artistry, building on prior releases with increased creative independence.

Artistry

Musical style and influences

Madison Beer's musical style primarily fuses contemporary pop with R&B sensibilities, as demonstrated in her debut studio album (February 19, 2021), which incorporates intricate vocal layering, orchestral arrangements, and introspective ballads influenced by artists like . Her early recordings, dating back to 2013, were planned as a blend of pop and R&B, featuring slower, emotive tracks alongside upbeat elements to showcase vocal versatility. This hybrid approach persists across her discography, evolving in (2023) to integrate '60s-inspired structures and nostalgic essence, aiming for an "effortless" sound that reflects personal emotional states. Beer draws from a broad spectrum of influences, prominently citing classic acts such as and for their structural innovation and harmonic depth. She has specifically referenced ' "Yesterday" as a blueprint for the chord progression and form in her track "Spinnin'" from Silence Between Songs, noting its appeal in crafting concise yet evocative compositions. Similarly, admiration for ' informs her emphasis on personal sanctuary themes and multi-layered production, as in her affinity for "," which resonates with her introspective songwriting. Contemporary and alternative artists also shape her aesthetic, including for atmospheric lyricism and for conceptual depth in exploring relational dynamics, as seen in her appreciation for Ocean's "." Earlier life soundtracks reveal additional touchstones like Nirvana's edge in (her first purchased album) and Elton John's melodic storytelling in "Rocket Man," which she deems an enduring favorite, contributing to her genre-blending versatility and thematic focus on vulnerability.

Vocal abilities and songwriting

Madison Beer's vocal classification is , with documented live demonstrations extending from D3 to D6, including a notable D6 in "Teenager In Love" performed in in 2018. Aggregated song data places her typical range at F3 to G5, spanning 2.2 octaves, as evidenced in tracks like "Dangerous." Professional reviews highlight her technical proficiency, particularly in conveying emotional depth through controlled dynamics and resonance in mid-to-upper registers, as showcased in ballads from . Independent vocal coaches have analyzed her delivery in songs such as "Reckless," praising smooth connectivity and glottal control while noting room for expanded lower register exploration. Beer has acknowledged personal struggles with vocal confidence, recounting in a 2021 interview that she "used to really beat myself up about" her voice amid early career pressures. Live performances, including national anthem renditions and covers like Joji's "Glimpse of Us," demonstrate her agility in head voice and sustained phrasing, though audience and critic opinions vary on consistency without formal training. In songwriting, Beer began composing at age four, initially drawing from personal emotions to craft simple narratives. By early 2026, she surpassed 23 million monthly listeners on the platform, reflecting rapid growth including record daily gains. This surge coincided with heightened fan anticipation for her upcoming album Locket. The single "Reckless," released in June 2021, has accumulated over 677 million Spotify streams, establishing it as one of her most consumed tracks. "Make You Mine" reached number one on the Billboard Dance/Mix Show Airplay chart in May 2024, becoming her second leader on the ranking after a prior entry. Several singles earned Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) certifications reflecting combined sales and streaming equivalents. "Selfish" attained status in August 2020, crossing 500,000 units faster than her prior releases. Earlier that year, in June 2020, "Dead," "Home with You," and "Hurts Like Hell" (featuring Offset) each received certifications. Her sophomore album Silence Between Songs debuted at number 86 on the Billboard 200 in September 2023, marking her second consecutive entry on the chart. The project also reached number 16 on the Billboard Top Album Sales ranking, driven by physical and digital purchases. Live performances contributed to her revenue, with the 2024 Spinnin Tour producing reported box office grosses including $342,217 from a single concert submission. Earlier tour dates, such as a 2022 show at O2 Academy Glasgow, grossed $62,614. These figures underscore expanding audience draw amid her growing catalog.

Critical assessments and challenges

Madison Beer's music has elicited mixed critical responses, with reviewers often praising her vocal abilities while critiquing the depth and originality of her songwriting. Her debut album (2021) received a 5.9 out of 10 from , which described it as "ambitious yet shallow," noting its roots in authenticity overshadowed by artifice and an overemphasis on proving seriousness. Similarly, independent outlets have faulted her lyrics for being "consistently boring and unmemorable," attributing this to her heavy involvement in composition despite technical proficiency. (2023) fared better in some assessments for its streamlined wistful orchestration and jazzy elements but drew criticism for relying on "safe" chord progressions that limited emotional risk. Previews of her upcoming album Locket have garnered praise, with the Sydney Morning Herald highlighting singles "Yes Baby" and "Bittersweet" as ubiquitous hits, alongside tracks "Angel Wings"—a dark-but-playful kiss-off to a loser ex—and "Bad Enough", an escalating doo-wop number suggesting she might be pop's top reigning vocalist. Beer has encountered professional challenges, including being dropped by in 2018 following the unauthorized leak of explicit photos and videos from her teenage years, an incident that exacerbated her mental health struggles and delayed her album rollout. Online harassment has persisted, with body-shaming comments targeting her appearance and fueling debates over perceived photoshopping, despite her assertions of unaltered images. Public controversies have further complicated her reception, including backlash in 2016 for lip-syncing the N-word in a video and in 2020 for posts interpreted as romanticizing amid heightened sensitivity to related themes. She issued apologies for a May 2020 Instagram Live addressing appearance-related complaints, which critics deemed insensitive during protests over George Floyd's murder. Broader industry misogyny has been a recurring theme, as Beer addressed in her 2023 single "King of Everything," which critiques men who "abused their power" over her early career. Despite commercial singles success, perceptions of her as an "Insta model who started singing" have hindered mainstream breakthrough, compounded by debunked rumors and conspiracy theories amplifying fan-driven hate.

In July 2017, Gilinsky posted an audio recording of himself verbally abusing Beer during an argument, prompting him to issue a public apology and Beer to announce the breakup, stating she had attempted to "fix" him despite the mistreatment. Following the split from Gilinsky, Beer dated DJ and promoter starting in 2018, in an on-and-off relationship marked by public arguments, including a heated incident outside The Nice Guy nightclub in in July 2018. This response came amid the ongoing Israel-Hamas war, which had resulted in over 24,000 reported deaths in Gaza by mid-January 2024, according to Gaza health authorities. Beer's statements reflect a position advocating mutual peace without explicit endorsement of either Israel's military actions or Palestinian militant groups, drawing mixed reactions: some pro-Palestinian activists praised her for defying perceived industry and familial pressures, while critics viewed her remarks as insufficiently condemnatory of Israel's conduct. No further public statements from Beer on the conflict have been documented as of October 2025.

Other public positions

In a February 2021 interview, she stated that celebrities are "deemed not as human as everyone else," emphasizing that while certain actions by figures may be "unforgivable," the broader trend of rapid cancellation overlooks nuance and personal accountability. She attributed much of this dynamic to platforms like TikTok, which she described as sparking "a whole new wave" of anonymous online bullying and harassment enabled by the internet's veil of anonymity. On , Beer has publicly advocated against shaming and unrealistic standards, drawing from her experiences with online criticism that exacerbated her body dysmorphia and led to restrictive eating behaviors. Following body-shaming comments on in April 2023, she responded by urging society to cease quick judgments and cancellations, stating, "I don't think that as a society we're ever going to advance to a better place if we're all so quick to yell and scream and cancel each other." She has highlighted the fixation on women's appearances in the public eye, noting in October 2022 that navigating scrutiny as a in the spotlight is "really hard." Beer has also criticized within the music industry, particularly the control exerted by male figures over female artists. In December 2023, she released the single "King of Everything," which addresses these power imbalances, and praised for bravely confronting similar issues in her own work. She has spoken previously about the prevalence of such dynamics, positioning her commentary as a call for greater and for women in the field.
