Neiked
View on WikipediaNeiked (stylised as NEIKED) is a Swedish artist collective[2] of singers, songwriters and record producers. Victor Rådström[3] and Mikael Rabus[4] founded Neiked, a group that comprises rising artists, producers, writers and vocalists.[5]
Key Information
Rådström got his start writing songs in the basement of his home. Upon hearing his music, his friends were impressed by his creativity and encouraged him to reach out to various record labels in order to share his music with a larger audience. Impatient with the pace of the labels and with an eagerness to share the project with the world, Rådström and his friend and collaborator Rabus took matters into their own hands, formed the Neiked Collective, and released the music independently. The two of them are the founding parts of the independent label Neiked Collective. The collective has since appeared on shows such as BBC Live Lounge and on Scandinavian talk shows, showcasing the young producer's work in an unorthodox way.[6]
Neiked's third single "Sexual" (2016) reached a peak position of number four on the Australian Singles Chart[7] and number five on the UK Singles Chart.[8] "Sexual" was influenced by Marvin Gaye's "Sexual Healing"; Rådström came up with the line "I'm feeling sexual so we should be sexual", with that thought forming the base of the song.[5]
In 2018 they released the single "How Did I Find You" featuring Swedish singer and childhood friend Miriam Bryant,[9] which features "a woozy, dusk-drenched pulse".[10] Neiked released the single "Sometimes" in November 2019, which was called a "big and brassy declaration, [with] engaging production and west-coast warmth".[11]
Neiked created the collaboration with Mae Muller and Polo G "Better Days" in 2021,[12][13] a song which was a new entry at number 57 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart of October 30.[14] "Better Days" also charted on the UK Singles Chart, debuting at number 52 on the chart of 4 November 2021 after accumulating a sales total of 8,007.[15][16]

View on GrokipediaBackground and formation
Founding members
Neiked was founded in 2015 by Victor Rådström and Mikael Rabus as an independent artist collective comprising singers, songwriters, and producers, operating under the Neiked Collective label.[8][9] Victor Rådström, the primary founder, serves as the collective's lead singer, songwriter, and producer; originally from Gothenburg but based in Stockholm, he began his musical journey writing songs in the basement of his family home, where his early demos garnered attention from friends who encouraged his professional pursuits.[10] Mikael Rabus, the co-founder, contributes as a key producer, handling much of the collective's production setup and technical aspects while supporting its collaborative framework.[11][12] From its inception, Neiked emphasized a low-profile, experimental approach, fostering a tight-knit group dynamic that allowed members to collaborate anonymously and innovate beyond traditional industry norms.[11][13]Early development
Neiked Collective was established in 2015 in Stockholm, Sweden, by Victor Rådström and Mikael Rabus as an independent record label, publishing, and management company aimed at providing a creative space free from traditional industry constraints.[14][11] The initiative stemmed from the founders' desire to experiment with bold, unconventional pop sounds that major labels might deem too risky, allowing for a DIY approach to music production starting in basement sessions.[13] This setup positioned Neiked as a platform for collaborative electronic pop, emphasizing artistic freedom and multilingual experimentation from the outset.[15] To build the group, Rådström and Rabus recruited rising talents including producers, songwriters, vocalists, and artists such as Thomas Stenström, who contributed to early projects, and later international voices like Lil INDO.[13] The collective's structure fostered a fluid, rotating membership focused on shared production and songwriting, drawing from Sweden's vibrant music scene to assemble a diverse team dedicated to innovative sound design.[11] This recruitment process enabled Neiked to function as both a creative hub and a developmental entity for emerging professionals in electronic pop.[16] In its initial phase, Neiked released independent tracks that showcased experimentation in electronic pop production, beginning with the 2015 single "Cowboy" featuring Thomas Stenström, a Swedish-language effort that highlighted raw, unpolished vibes.[8] Subsequent releases, such as the 2016 track "Sand & Lead" with Brolin, continued this exploratory approach, blending multilingual elements and focusing on genre-blending beats without commercial pressures.[11][8] These efforts prioritized conceptual innovation over polished hits, laying the groundwork for Neiked's signature sound.[13] Early buzz was generated through targeted media exposure, including appearances on Scandinavian talk shows that introduced the collective's unorthodox workflow to local audiences.[17] Radio play and streaming platforms like Spotify amplified these independent releases, helping to build a grassroots following in Sweden before wider recognition.[11] This pre-debut visibility underscored Neiked's role as an innovative force in Stockholm's music ecosystem.[16]Career milestones
Debut and breakthrough (2015–2018)
Neiked's entry into the music industry began with the independent release of their debut single "Cowboy", featuring Swedish singer Thomas Stenström, on November 13, 2015, via Neiked Collective.[18] The track, a fusion of organic pop and electronica, introduced the collective's signature sound and laid the groundwork for their emerging style.[19] The collective achieved their breakthrough in 2016 with the single "Sexual", featuring vocals from English singer Dyo, released digitally on August 26, 2016, through Neiked Collective in partnership with Casablanca Records, Polydor Records, and Republic Records.[20] The song rapidly ascended international charts, peaking at number 5 on the UK Official Singles Chart after debuting at number 83 on September 8, 2016, and spending 41 weeks in the top 100 with 9 weeks in the top 10.[21] In Australia, "Sexual" debuted at number 33 on the ARIA Singles Chart on November 6, 2016, before climbing to a peak of number 4 the following month and charting for 19 weeks overall.[22] The track sparked considerable media attention, including being named the UK's number 1 trending song in late October 2016 as it rose six places to number 6 on the midweek chart update.[23] Building on this momentum, Neiked performed on BBC Radio 1's Live Lounge on November 10, 2016, delivering "Sensual" (a performance of their single "Sexual") and a stripped-back cover of The Chainsmokers' "Closer".[24] The appearance highlighted their versatility and contributed to growing visibility. They also secured spots on Scandinavian television programs during this period, promoting their music in their native region.[17] Much of Neiked's early output from 2015 to 2018 was later compiled on the 2019 album Best of Hard Drive, released March 29, which included "Sexual" alongside other formative singles and demos that defined their initial breakthrough.[25]International success (2019–2022)
In 2021, Neiked achieved their first major U.S. breakthrough with the single "Better Days," featuring British singer Mae Muller and American rapper Polo G, released on September 24 via Capitol Records. The track debuted at number 57 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart dated October 30, 2021, and eventually peaked at number 23 on January 15, 2022, marking Neiked's highest-charting entry on the tally to date. It also garnered significant radio airplay, reaching number 9 on the Billboard Mainstream Top 40 chart and accumulating over 1.5 billion global streams, which propelled Neiked into mainstream American audiences.[26][4][5] The song's viral momentum on platforms like TikTok and its upbeat pop-rap fusion led to widespread media coverage, including features in Billboard as a key breakout hit of the year. This success built on Neiked's earlier foundation with tracks like "Sexual" (2016), transitioning them from European club scenes to global pop prominence. In the UK, "Better Days" debuted at number 52 on the Official Singles Chart in November 2021, further solidifying radio play on stations such as BBC Radio 1.[27][2] On January 28, 2022, Neiked released the Better Days (feat. Polo G) EP, a four-track project under Capitol Records UK/EMI that expanded the single with remixes and an acoustic version, including a collaboration variant featuring J Balvin. The EP underscored Neiked's growing international footprint, with the title track's continued chart performance driving U.S. and UK promotion, including playlist placements on Spotify and Apple Music. This release highlighted Neiked's shift toward collaborative, cross-genre productions aimed at broader markets. Later that year, on May 27, Neiked collaborated with English singer Anne-Marie and American rapper Latto on "I Just Called," released through Asylum Records and Warner Music UK, interpolating Stevie Wonder's "I Just Called to Say I Love You" with a playful, dance-infused twist. The single peaked at number 99 on the UK Official Singles Chart, receiving airplay on UK pop radio and promotional pushes via music videos and social media campaigns that emphasized its mischievous energy. While it saw moderate streaming success globally, the track reinforced Neiked's strategy of high-profile partnerships to maintain momentum in the U.S. and UK.[28][29][30] Neiked's period from 2019 to 2022 was marked by strategic expansion into international markets, with U.S. radio dominance via hits like "Better Days" and UK chart entries signaling their mainstream breakthrough. Media appearances, such as interviews in outlets like Wonderland Magazine and recognition in Sweden's Music Export Prize nominations, highlighted their rising profile, culminating in over a billion streams across platforms and live considerations amid global touring restrictions. This era positioned Neiked as a key player in pop-electronic crossovers.[31][32]Recent releases (2023–2025)
In 2023, Neiked released the single "You're Hired" featuring Nigerian singer Ayra Starr, marking a continuation of their collaborative approach following the success of their 2021 single "Better Days".[33] The track, produced under Neiked's independent label Orphan Collective, blends pop and Afrobeats elements and was made available on September 29, 2023.[34] A remix by producer Ginchy followed in 2024, infusing the original with deeper house rhythms and released on February 16, 2024, to extend its reach on streaming platforms.[35] Building on this momentum, Neiked issued "The Moves" in 2024, featuring American R&B artist Muni Long and legendary guitarist Nile Rodgers.[36] The single, released on March 29, 2024, via Orphan Collective in partnership with Atlantic Records, incorporates funk-infused production and emphasizes danceable grooves tailored for digital playlists.[37] This release highlighted Neiked's strategy of leveraging high-profile features to boost streaming visibility, with targeted promotions on platforms like Spotify and Apple Music.[38] Entering 2025, Neiked collaborated with American rock band Portugal. The Man on "Glide," a single that explores introspective themes through electronic and indie rock fusion.[39] Released earlier in the year via Arista Records, the track received an official visualizer on March 27, 2025, enhancing its promotional rollout across social media and streaming services.[40] Throughout this period, Neiked operated primarily through their independent label Orphan Collective in partnership with major labels like Atlantic and Arista, focusing on agile, streaming-centric promotions to sustain global audience engagement.[41]Artistry and collaborations
Musical style
Neiked's music primarily encompasses dance-pop and electropop genres, characterized by bright, hooky melodies and upbeat rhythms that blend accessibility with energetic electronic elements.[42] This style often features infectious choruses and layered synths, creating tracks that are both radio-friendly and suitable for streaming playlists, as seen in their breakout single "Sexual," which exemplifies the project's euphoric, experimental pop vibe.[43] In terms of production, Neiked employs an electronic-infused approach to pop, starting from raw, DIY basement sessions where acapellas are reworked with drum loops, bass-driven beats, and vocal harmonies to achieve a polished, collaborative sound.[13] The process emphasizes catchy, melody-driven structures tailored for mainstream consumption, incorporating diverse contributors for songwriting and instrumentation to maintain a fresh, hook-oriented output without rigid genre boundaries.[44] The project's influences draw heavily from Swedish pop traditions, evident in their nod to melodic craftsmanship akin to ABBA's euphoric structures, while integrating international electronic acts and soulful R&B elements, such as Marvin Gaye's "Sexual Healing" inspiring key tracks.[13][43] This fusion allows Neiked to explore experimental flavors within pop, blending band-like organic feels with synthetic production.[44] Over time, Neiked's sound has evolved from intimate, self-taught basement demos to a more refined collective effort, transitioning humble origins into professional, globally resonant releases that retain an independent, fun-driven ethos.[13][44]Notable partnerships
Neiked's early collaborations in the Swedish pop scene laid the foundation for their production style, particularly through partnerships with local artists Miriam Bryant and Elin Bergman.[45] Working closely with Bryant on tracks like "Rocket," Neiked co-wrote and produced pop-oriented songs that highlighted Bryant's vocal range and emotional delivery, contributing to her rise in the Nordic music market.[46] Similarly, their involvement with Bergman on songs such as "Naked" emphasized upbeat, anthemic pop elements, showcasing Neiked's ability to craft accessible hooks for emerging talents.[47] These initial efforts established Neiked as a go-to collective for Swedish pop production before expanding internationally. As Neiked gained global traction, their high-profile features marked significant milestones in blending diverse genres. In 2021, they collaborated with Mae Muller and Polo G on "Better Days," a track that fused pop melodies with hip-hop verses, achieving RIAA platinum certification and peaking at number 23 on the Billboard Hot 100.[37][48] This partnership exemplified Neiked's role in bridging UK pop sensibilities with American rap influences. The following year, 2022, saw Neiked team up with Anne-Marie and Latto for "I Just Called," a vibrant single that incorporated R&B flair and peaked on international charts, further solidifying their cross-Atlantic appeal.[11] Building on this momentum, Neiked continued to diversify their sound through subsequent releases. Their 2023 collaboration with Ayra Starr on "You're Hired" introduced Afrobeats rhythms into their pop framework, earning praise for its infectious energy and Starr's dynamic vocals.[49] In 2024, the collective partnered with Muni Long and funk legend Nile Rodgers on "The Moves," infusing disco grooves and soulful R&B to create a nostalgic yet contemporary hit that highlighted Rodgers' signature guitar riffs.[38] Most recently, in 2025, Neiked joined forces with indie rock band Portugal. The Man for "Glide," a breezy anthem blending electronic production with rock edges, described as a feel-good track that evokes effortless movement.[7] Throughout these partnerships, Neiked's collective—comprising producers Victor Rådström and Mikael Rabus, alongside rotating songwriters—has consistently handled co-writing and production duties, allowing them to tailor beats and arrangements to each artist's strengths.[41] This hands-on approach has amplified Neiked's cross-genre appeal, seamlessly merging pop structures with hip-hop flows, funk basslines, and global influences like Afrobeats, as seen in their evolving discography.[5]Discography
Studio albums
Neiked's debut studio album, Best of Hard Drive, was released on March 29, 2019, through Warner Music Sweden in digital format. This compilation-style project compiles several of the collective's early singles alongside new and unreleased tracks, highlighting their signature blend of pop, electronic, and hip-hop influences.
