View on WikipediaSwitch Disco is a British DJ duo consisting of Dan Creasy and Nikos Kalogerias. Their 2021 single, "Everything", was used in the opening scene of the first episode of the seventh series of Love Island, and their 2023 single with Ella Henderson, "React", charted at No. 4 on the UK Singles Chart and was certified platinum by the British Phonographic Industry.
Career
[edit]Dan Creasy and Nikos Kalogerias[1] (Daniel John Creasy and Nikolaos Kalogerias[2]) met via mutual friends who were running a club in Zakynthos where Kalogerias was from. They completed a summer season together[3] before forming a duo together the following year.[4] They played mash-up sets for several years; one of their mash-ups, of Nelly Furtado's "Say It Right" and Bicep's "Glue",[5] caught the attention of Relentless Records, who signed them.[3] In 2021, the pair released "Everything", which samples Donna Lewis' "I Love You Always Forever";[6] the pair opted to sample the record after playing the song at the end of one of their DJ sets, and deciding to do something with it.[7] The song was used in the opening scene of the first episode of the seventh series of Love Island, which caused its Spotify streams to increase by 185 percent.[8]
In 2023, having previously released several mashups using "Children" by Robert Miles, the pair released "React", a collaboration with Ella Henderson, which heavily sampled the song.[3] The song charted at No. 4 on the UK Singles Chart[9] and was certified platinum by the British Phonographic Industry.[10] The song was in the charts at the same time as "Closer" by Bou featuring Slay,[11] which also sampled "Children",[12] and became popular at a time when sampling 1990s hits had become the norm.[13] They later released a music video for the song, and performed the track on the ninth series of Love Island's Reunion show with Nonô.[14] In February 2024, they released "Sleep Tonight" with Sam Feldt and R3hab, which sampled Amy Macdonald's "This Is the Life".[15]

Members
Switch Disco consists of two members: British DJ and producer Daniel John Creasy and Greek DJ Nikolaos Kalogerias.[14][15] Daniel John Creasy, known professionally as Dan Creasy, is a UK-based DJ and producer with nearly 15 years as a resident DJ at mainstream clubs.[16] His contributions to the duo focus on crafting mash-ups and original tracks, drawing from his extensive experience in electronic dance music production.[17] Nikolaos Kalogerias, known as Nikos Kalogerias, was born and raised in Laganas, Zakynthos, Greece, where his father's career as a musician inspired an early passion for the art.[15] He began DJing at age 13 and developed a strong foundation in club DJing, contributing to Switch Disco through dynamic live sets and innovative track sampling techniques.[15][17] Creasy and Kalogerias complement each other in the production process by blending Creasy's studio-focused production skills with Kalogerias's club-honed DJing expertise, leveraging their combined over 20 years of experience across UK and Greek club scenes to create seamless mash-ups and high-energy mixes.[17][5][14] The duo met through mutual friends in Zakynthos in 2010, where their shared musical tastes laid the groundwork for their partnership.[15][18]Formation
Switch Disco, the British electronic music duo consisting of Dan Creasy and Nikos Kalogerias, formed around 2012 after meeting through mutual friends operating a club in Zakynthos, Greece, with Creasy arriving for a season in 2011.[18][19] Nikos, originally from Greece and an established DJ with roots in the local club scene, connected with Dan, a British DJ seeking international opportunities, over their shared passion for dance music.[15] The pair quickly began collaborating on mash-up sets performed in clubs across Europe, blending popular tracks to create high-energy live experiences that set them apart from solo performers.[20] Their initial work focused on these custom edits, honed during residencies and club gigs, which helped build a grassroots following among partygoers.[20] A pivotal moment came with their mash-up of Nelly Furtado's "Say It Right" and Bicep's "Glue," which garnered over 9 million streams on SoundCloud after its upload in November 2020 and drew widespread attention from industry professionals, going viral on platforms like TikTok.[10][21][22] This highlighted their innovative approach to remixing and contributed to their rising profile. In April 2020, amid the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, Switch Disco signed their first major deal with Relentless Records, a Sony Music UK imprint known for championing emerging electronic talent, following growing interest in their mash-up work.[20][23] This agreement marked the transition from club mash-up artists to signed producers, solidifying their duo's foundation.[20]Career
Early career and debut (2019–2022)
Prior to signing with a label, Switch Disco, the duo of Dan Creasy and Nikos Kalogerias, established their presence through DJ residencies and mash-up performances in club circuits across the UK and Greece. Creasy honed his skills in British venues, while Kalogerias held residencies with prominent brands such as Hed Kandi and Cream in Greece, alongside guest appearances at London spots like Ministry of Sound, Koko, and Heaven. Their early sets emphasized creative mash-ups, which they shared on social media to build a dedicated following, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic when live performances were limited. The duo's formation stemmed from a collaborative mash-up of Nelly Furtado's "Say It Right" and Bicep's "Glue," which helped solidify their partnership around 2012 and attracted attention in underground dance circles. By 2019–2020, these activities had positioned them for a transition to original productions, with residencies and online edits fostering anticipation for their branded releases. In April 2020, Switch Disco signed with Relentless Records, an imprint of Sony Music UK, setting the stage for their debut. They released their first single, "Everything," on June 25, 2021—a high-energy house reinterpretation of Donna Lewis's 1996 track "I Love You Always Forever," inspired by closing a DJ set with the original. The song's infectious piano riff and euphoric build quickly resonated in dance communities. "Everything" gained major traction after featuring in the opening scene of the first episode of Love Island's seventh series in June 2021, which propelled daily Spotify streams up by 185%. This exposure sparked widespread media coverage, with outlets praising its summery vibe and potential as a club staple, though it did not enter the main UK Singles Chart and instead peaked at number 23 on the UK Singles Sales Chart. The buzz cemented Switch Disco's early recognition, blending their mash-up roots with polished production for broader appeal.Mainstream breakthrough (2023–2025)
Switch Disco achieved their mainstream breakthrough in 2023 with the release of "React", a collaboration with English singer Ella Henderson, issued on January 13, 2023, through Relentless Records. The track, which heavily samples the iconic 1995 instrumental "Children" by Italian DJ Robert Miles, marked the duo's first entry into the UK Singles Chart's top five, peaking at number 4 and spending over 40 weeks on the chart. Building on the viral success of their earlier mashup "Everything" from 2021, "React" garnered widespread radio play and streaming momentum, earning platinum certification from the British Phonographic Industry (BPI) for exceeding 600,000 units in the UK. Later that year, on December 15, 2023, they released the VACANCY extended play, featuring original tracks "Vacancy", "Ease My Mind" (with Autograf), and "What You Want", alongside a remix of "REACT".[1][24] In 2024, Switch Disco continued their ascent with "Sleep Tonight (This Is the Life)", a collaboration with Dutch producers R3HAB and Sam Feldt, released on February 23. The upbeat house track interpolates Scottish singer Amy Macdonald's 2007 hit "This Is the Life", blending nostalgic elements with a high-energy dance beat that resonated across European markets. This was followed by "Under the Sun", a collaboration with Ella Henderson and Brazilian DJ Alok, released on May 31, which further highlighted their collaborative approach in contemporary dance music. Later that year, the duo released "I Found You" on September 13, featuring vocals from Charlotte Haining and a sample from Felix's 1992 classic "Don't You Want Me", further showcasing their signature mashup style and contributing to their growing catalog of club anthems.[1][25] The year 2025 saw Switch Disco solidify their international presence with two notable releases. In June, they issued a cover of Kiesza's 2014 hit "Hideaway" alongside Australian artist Tones and I, reimagining the track with fresh production that highlighted their ability to revive dance-pop staples. Later, in November, "Breathe" arrived as a collaboration with British singer NEVE, delivering an emotive electronic track that aligned with the duo's evolving sound. These efforts were complemented by high-profile festival appearances, including a set at Tomorrowland Winter in March and performances across two days at the Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) in October, which amplified their recognition beyond the UK and established them as key players in the global electronic music scene.[1]Artistry
Musical style
Switch Disco's music is primarily rooted in house and slap house, blending electronic dance elements with pop sensibilities to create tracks suited for club environments. Their productions emphasize a fusion of rhythmic beats and melodic layers, drawing from electronic traditions while incorporating accessible pop structures for broader appeal. This style aligns with contemporary house music's focus on groove and energy, as evidenced by classifications of their work in electronic and house genres.[26][27] A signature aspect of their sound involves heavy use of sampling, where they recontextualize hooks from 90s and 2000s hits into modern house frameworks. For instance, tracks like "REACT" layer vocals over the instrumental from Robert Miles' 1995 trance classic "Children," transforming nostalgic elements into fresh dance anthems. This approach results in upbeat, dancefloor-oriented productions characterized by catchy, sample-driven hooks that drive listener engagement and energy on the floor. Their music often features strong vocal performances that complement these samples, fostering anthemic, high-impact builds.[27][28][20] The duo's sound has evolved from early mashups and exclusive DJ edits to more structured original productions that prioritize high-energy drops and club-ready dynamics. Initially focused on blending unavailable mainstream tracks for live sets, they transitioned to releasing sampled originals starting with "Everything" in 2021, which drew from Donna Lewis' 1996 pop hit "I Love You Always Forever." This progression highlights a shift toward polished, vocal-forward house tracks designed for both streaming and performance impact.[20][29][30]Influences and collaborations
Switch Disco's sound draws heavily from 90s house pioneers, particularly evident in their sampling of Robert Miles' "Children" for the track "React," which pays homage to the era's dreamy, piano-driven electronic vibes.[5] Early 2000s pop influences are apparent in their mashup of Nelly Furtado's "Say It Right" with Bicep's "Glue," blending nostalgic vocal hooks with contemporary beats to create viral dance edits.[31] Modern electronic acts like Bicep further shape their production, inspiring layered, atmospheric house elements that bridge club anthems with pop accessibility.[31] The duo's musical style was profoundly impacted by the vibrant club scenes in Greece and the UK, where they honed their DJ skills over two decades. Nikos Kalogerias, originating from Zakynthos, began DJing at age 13 in local venues like those in Laganas, immersing himself in the island's high-energy summer club culture that emphasized seamless mashups and crowd engagement.[15] Dan Creasy's experience in the UK's festival and club circuit, including early residencies, complemented this, leading to their formation in 2012 when their paths crossed in a Greek club; this fusion of Mediterranean party rhythms and British dance precision became the cornerstone of their energetic, blend-focused sound.[5][17] Key collaborations have been pivotal in elevating Switch Disco's profile, introducing their house productions to broader pop audiences. Their partnership with Ella Henderson on "React" leveraged her established vocal appeal to transform a nostalgic sample into a chart-topping hit, opening doors to mainstream opportunities and shared studio sessions with major artists.[32] Teaming up with the Dutch producers Sam Feldt and R3HAB for "Sleep Tonight (This Is The Life)" merged their upbeat house with their global electronic reach, expanding their fanbase across European dance scenes.[32] The cover of Kiesza's "Hideaway" with Tones and I infused indie-pop energy into their repertoire, while their recent work with NEVE on "Breathe"—reuniting after meeting in 2019—highlights their affinity for emotive, vocal-driven tracks that resonate in both club and radio settings.[13][33] These alliances not only diversified their output but also amplified their streaming presence, drawing in pop listeners through collaborators' established followings.[32]Discography

Switch Disco released their debut extended play, Vacancy, on 15 December 2023 via Relentless Records under exclusive license to Sony Music Entertainment UK Limited.[34] The EP serves as a compilation of the duo's recent singles, blending uplifting house anthems with collaborative elements to showcase their energetic production style.[35] The four-track project opens with the title track "Vacancy," an emotionally charged dance number produced with Punctual, followed by "Ease My Mind" featuring Autograf, the shorter "What You Want," and closes with "REACT" featuring Ella Henderson.[36]| No. | Title | Featured artist(s) | Length |
