"Hotel Room Service" is a song by American rapper Pitbull released as the third single from his fourth album, Pitbull Starring in Rebelution. It was released to both iTunes and mainstream radio on June 16, 2009.[1] The song peaked at number eight on the US Billboard Hot 100, making it his second top 10 hit following "I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho)".
The song samples "Push the Feeling On" by Nightcrawlers and "La Hora De Bailar" by Sandy & Papo, interpolates lyrics from Jay-Z's "I Just Wanna Love U" ("Gimme that sweet, that nasty, that gushy stuff"), The Notorious B.I.G.'s "Nasty Girl" ("Put them fingers in your mouth / Open up your blouse / Pull that g-string down south"), and Sugarhill Gang's "Rapper's Delight" ("We at the hotel, motel, Holiday Inn"), and references T.I.'s "Whatever You Like" ("And like T.I.'s 'Whatever You Like'").
On September 16, 2009, the official remix to "Hotel Room Service" was released, which features Pussycat Dolls lead singer Nicole Scherzinger.
A version of the song titled "Super Clean Edit" was distributed to radio stations which replaces the line referencing "egg whites" with "gonna give you just what you like."[2]
Music video
[edit]The song's official music video was released on August 10, 2009 to Pitbull's YouTube channel.
Jim Jonsin, Sophia Del Carmen and Feisty from For the Love of Ray J make cameo appearances in the video as does Nayer and Sagia Castañeda, who appeared in the "I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho)" video as well. The video features Pitbull with models Elizabeth Mendez, Cassie Codi, Lisa Morales, Anya Gonzalez, and Kimbella Vanderhee.
The video was also released onto Pitbull's official Vevo channel on November 14, that year. It has received almost 300 million views.[3]
Critical reception
[edit]The song received generally favorable reviews, with David Jeffries from AllMusic saying, "nothing ... could fill a dancefloor as quickly as the ... stunner ... 'Hotel Room Service', which triple mashes an old-school hit ('Rapper's Delight'), a 2 Live Crew classic ('One and One'), plus a house music giant (the Nightcrawlers' 'Push the Feeling On')."

Hotel Room Service
View on GrokipediaBackground and Production
Development
The song "Hotel Room Service" was conceived as a high-energy party anthem for Pitbull's fourth studio album, Pitbull Starring in Rebelution, building on the success of his prior club-oriented hits such as "I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho)."[5] It was positioned as the third single from the album to sustain momentum and drive sales, following promotional single "Krazy" and the earlier hit "I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho)."[5] Written by Armando C. Pérez (Pitbull), James Scheffer (Jim Jonsin), John Reid, Mark Ross, David Hobbs, Nile Rodgers, Hugh Brankin, Graham Wilson, Ross Campbell, Bernard Edwards, Luther Campbell, and Christopher Wongwon, the track was crafted to fuse hip-hop verses with dance-pop elements, creating an infectious, club-ready sound reflective of the album's broader themes of rebellion and global party culture.[6][7][8] Inspiration for the song stemmed from Pitbull's personal immersion in Miami's vibrant nightlife, particularly the non-stop party scenes of South Beach and hotel environments, which informed its energetic, escapist vibe.[8] A key creative choice involved incorporating a sample from Nightcrawlers' 1995 house track "Push the Feeling On (MK Dub of Doom Mix)," specifically interpolating the chorus melody and bassline to infuse the song with 1990s club nostalgia while adapting it to a modern hip-hop context.[9]Recording and Sampling
The recording of "Hotel Room Service" took place in 2008 at several studios in Miami, Florida, including Midnight Blue Studios and Al Burna Studio, with production and engineering overseen by Jim Jonsin for the labels Mr. 305, Polo Grounds Music, J Records, and Sony Music.[6][10][11] Pitbull's vocals were captured during these sessions, layered for the track's energetic delivery, while the production incorporated no featured artists in the original version.[6] The song's party anthem intent, conceived in the development phase, influenced the recording approach to emphasize a high-energy, club-oriented vibe.[12] Central to the track's production was the sampling process, which integrated elements from Nightcrawlers' 1995 house track "Push the Feeling On (The Dub of Doom)," with clearance obtained for its use in the hook and rhythmic foundation.[9] Additional rhythmic hooks were drawn from The Sugarhill Gang's 1979 hip-hop classic "Rapper's Delight," adding a foundational groove that blended seamlessly with the house influences.[12] These samples were processed and layered under Jonsin's direction to create the song's infectious, dancefloor-ready pulse. The final mix, handled by Rob Marks at Midnight Blue Studios, was completed ahead of the single's June 2009 release, resulting in a runtime of 3:58 optimized for radio and club play.[11][7] Recording engineer Adrian "Drop" Santalla, assisted by Joe Gonzalez, ensured the technical polish that contributed to the track's polished, bass-heavy sound.[6]Composition and Lyrics
Musical Structure
"Hotel Room Service" blends elements of hip-hop, crunk, pop rap, and house music, creating a high-energy dance track with a tempo of 126 beats per minute (BPM) in the key of B minor.[13][14][15] The song's structure follows a conventional verse-chorus format typical of rap and electronic hybrids: an intro featuring the sampled hook, followed by verse-chorus-verse-chorus-bridge-outro, where the chorus prominently incorporates vocal chops and synth bass from the Nightcrawlers' 1992 track "Push the Feeling On."[1] Instrumentation emphasizes dancefloor propulsion through heavy synthesizers derived from the house sample, booming 808 bass drums, and rapid hi-hat patterns that underscore the crunk and hip-hop influences.[16] Pitbull's rapid-fire rap delivery in the verses provides rhythmic contrast to the melodic, hook-driven chorus, enhancing the track's club-oriented vibe.[17] Clocking in at 3:58, the song builds escalating energy, starting with sparse verse sections focused on Pitbull's vocals over minimal beats before exploding into fuller, anthemic chorus drops that amplify the sampled elements for maximum impact.[14]Thematic Content
The lyrics of "Hotel Room Service" center on seduction and one-night stands within a hotel setting, utilizing the metaphor of room service to symbolize convenient, no-strings-attached casual encounters.[1] The narrative portrays the hotel room as a private sanctuary for indulgence, where everyday responsibilities dissolve in favor of fleeting physical connections.[18] Prominent phrases like "Forget about your boyfriend and meet me at the hotel room" deliver a straightforward invitation to prioritize momentary desire over existing relationships, conveyed through a lighthearted, confident tone that aligns with Pitbull's self-styled "Mr. Worldwide" persona as a global party instigator.[1][19] This boastful delivery underscores the song's emphasis on empowerment through hedonistic choice, inviting listeners to join in the escapade with lines encouraging group participation, such as bringing friends along.[18] At its core, the track embodies themes of escapism and hedonism, evoking the high-energy pulse of Miami's nightlife and party culture without delving into deeper social critique, instead championing unapologetic enjoyment and immediacy.[5] The lyrics paint a vivid picture of post-club revelry transitioning to intimate hotel antics, reinforcing a carefree ethos where pleasure trumps consequence.[18] The song's wordplay and rhyming scheme favor catchy, rhythmic propulsion over elaborate depth, with simple repetitions like "We at the hotel, motel, Holiday Inn" building hypnotic momentum.[1] Bilingual flourishes in the ad-libs, including Spanish exclamations such as "Mujeres!" and Cuban slang like "oye, que bola," infuse the verses with cultural vibrancy, blending English hooks with Pitbull's Miami-rooted heritage to heighten the track's inclusive, worldwide appeal.[1] For radio broadcast, a clean version of the song was released with altered lyrics to remove suggestive content and make it suitable for airplay. For example, the line "Your man just left, I'm the plumber tonight / I'll check yo' pipes, oh, you the healthy type" was changed to "Your man just left, I'm the doctor tonight / Check up right, oh, you the healthy type."[20][21]Release and Promotion
Single Release
"Hotel Room Service" was released on June 16, 2009, as the third single from Pitbull's fourth studio album, Pitbull Starring in Rebelution, through Polo Grounds Music and Jive Records.[22] The track followed the singles "Krazy" and "I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho)," building on the album's momentum toward its full release later that year. The single was made available in multiple formats, including digital download, CD single, and promotional vinyl.[13][16] Initial promotion emphasized radio airplay, targeting rhythmic and Top 40 stations to capitalize on the song's danceable rhythm and crossover appeal.[23] Promotion for "Hotel Room Service" was integrated into Pitbull's broader album marketing strategy, which highlighted the project as a collection of global hits designed to energize international audiences.[8] The track became a staple of the Rebelution Tour, spanning 2009 to 2010, where it was performed live to promote the album's themes of rebellion and worldwide party anthems.[24][25] A remix featuring Nicole Scherzinger was released on October 9, 2009, via digital platforms, aiming to broaden the song's reach into mainstream pop circles through her vocal contributions.[26][27] This version appeared on select CD singles alongside the original and helped sustain radio and digital interest into the fall.[13]Music Video
The music video for "Hotel Room Service," directed by David Rousseau, premiered on Pitbull's YouTube channel on August 10, 2009, and runs for 4 minutes and 29 seconds.[28][29][30] Filmed primarily at the Epic Hotel in downtown Miami, the video's concept centers on Pitbull checking into a luxurious hotel under the alias Armando Bond, where he hosts an extravagant party filled with models and emphasizes the song's hedonistic hotel rendezvous theme.[31][32] The production features Pitbull interacting playfully with women portrayed as hotel staff and guests, including models Elizabeth Mendez, Cassie Codi, Lisa Morales, Anya Gonzalez, and Kimbella Vanderhee, as well as cameos by Feisty from the TV show For the Love of Ray J and model Sagia Castañeda, alongside a cameo appearance by the song's producer, Jim Jonsin.[33][32] The visual style captures high-energy party aesthetics through dynamic scenes in opulent hotel suites and common areas, aligning with the track's club-oriented vibe and reinforcing its playful motif of indulgence in a hotel setting. As of 2025, the official video has amassed over 358 million views on YouTube.[34]Critical Reception
Contemporary Reviews
Upon its release as a single in 2009, "Hotel Room Service" garnered generally positive contemporary reviews for its high-energy production and club-oriented appeal. David Jeffries of AllMusic lauded the track as a "dancefloor-filling stunner," emphasizing its infectious sample from Nightcrawlers' "Push the Feeling On" combined with nods to classics like the Sugarhill Gang's "Rapper's Delight" and 2 Live Crew's "One and One," which contribute to its vibrant, party-ready energy; the review awarded the parent album three out of five stars.[35] Billboard's review of the album similarly spotlighted Pitbull's charisma in "Hotel Room Service," describing it as one of the "club-ready" tracks that blend frenetic dance beats with pop accessibility, effectively establishing it as a "summer staple" amid the record's more experimental elements.[36] A more mixed perspective came from the BBC Chart Blog, which rated the song three stars and praised its synth-driven hook derived from the Nightcrawlers sample as reminiscent of a classic dance anthem, but critiqued the lyrics for their crude, boastful tone focused on romantic and party escapades, likening it to formulaic crunk-style hits of the era.[37] In the broader context of the album Pitbull Starring in Rebelution, which earned a Metacritic aggregate score of 51 out of 100 based on seven reviews, "Hotel Room Service" was frequently cited as a standout single that elevated the project's commercial viability despite the record's overall mixed reception for its repetitive formula.[38]Retrospective Analysis
In the 2020s, "Hotel Room Service" has been reevaluated as a quintessential guilty pleasure emblematic of late-2000s club music, celebrated for its high-energy party vibe despite initial criticisms of its formulaic style. A 2025 Metro review described Pitbull's catalog, including this track performed during his tour, as evolving from a personal guilty pleasure to a more respected live spectacle that captivates audiences with its nostalgic dance appeal.[39] Academic and cultural analyses in the 2020s have scrutinized the song's sampling practices and its contribution to Latinx visibility in hip-hop. The track samples the 1992 house hit "Push the Feeling On" by Nightcrawlers, a technique that WhoSampled documents as cleared but emblematic of Pitbull's approach to blending electronic dance elements with rap, raising discussions on creative reuse versus originality in popular music. Furthermore, Billboard has recognized Pitbull as one of the 30 most influential Latin artists of all time, noting how his work helped bridge Latin rhythms and hip-hop, amplifying Latinx representation in mainstream genres through his Spanglish-infused style.[40] The song's nostalgic resurgence in fan and media discourse by 2025 stems from viral social media trends and streaming platforms, enhancing its enduring party anthem status. TikTok features over 93.5 million posts tied to "Hotel Room Service" challenges and edits as of November 2025, often remixing it for dance and humor content, while it has surpassed 820 million streams on Spotify, underscoring its boosted appeal among younger audiences seeking 2000s throwbacks.[41][42] Critics in the 2020s have increasingly highlighted the track's dated gender dynamics, with its lyrics portraying women in objectified, hedonistic roles. A 2015 doctoral thesis by Lesley-Anne Ey on children's engagement with music media cited "Hotel Room Service" alongside other hits as lyrically sexually degrading to women, influencing gender-stereotyped perceptions that remain problematic in retrospective feminist critiques of early-2010s rap.Commercial Performance

It also topped the US Hot Rhythmic Songs chart.[44] Additionally, it reached number 11 on the US Billboard Pop Songs chart.[45] Internationally, the song charted across more than 19 countries, demonstrating Pitbull's growing global appeal following the success of his prior single "I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho)."[46] In the United Kingdom, it peaked at number 9 on the Official Singles Chart and spent 22 weeks in the top 100, bolstered by strong performance on dance-oriented platforms.[47] The track reached number 8 on Canada's Top 20 chart in September 2009.[48] It topped the charts in the Czech Republic via IFPI rankings and secured a number 2 position on Mexico's Anglo chart, contributing to its broad Latin American traction.[46] Other notable peaks included number 1 in Denmark (IFPI Danmark), number 6 in Ireland (Irish Singles Chart), number 11 in Switzerland, number 22 in Austria and Germany, number 10 in Belgium (Flanders), number 8 in Belgium (Wallonia), and number 3 in Turkey.[46][49][50][51] In year-end summaries, "Hotel Room Service" ranked number 46 on the 2009 Billboard Hot 100, underscoring its role in Pitbull's breakout year.[52] The song experienced a notable resurgence in 2025, peaking at number 22 on the Spotify Global daily chart on March 6 with 575,344 streams, driven by renewed streaming interest.[53] By early November 2025, it briefly re-entered the US Spotify chart at number 200 on November 1, marking a short seasonal uptick amid holiday playlist activity.[53]| Chart (2009–2010) | Peak Position | Weeks on Chart |
