Nation Radio London is a quasi-national radio station in the UK, broadcasting online and on DAB. It is owned and operated by Nation Broadcasting.

Key Information

The digital station was launched in June 2016 as Thames Radio with a line-up of former BBC and Capital presenters such as breakfast host Neil Fox, Dean Martin, Tony Blackburn, Alex Lester, Pat Sharp and Neil Francis, with all presenters broadcasting from 'virtual studios' (as Thames Radio had no physical studio premises of its own).[citation needed]

In June 2017, Thames Radio[1] dropped all of its presenters and became a non-stop music station, until changing its name to Nation Radio London in June 2018.[2] This was because the company behind Thames Radio had acquired a radio licence from Rock Radio Scotland (which was being unused) and wanted to launch a more 'national' service which would also include a station in Wales in time.[citation needed]

In 2021, the station became known as Nation Radio UK, with DJs including Russ Williams and Neil Francis, with Mike Read broadcasting The Heritage Chart every Sunday at 5pm.[3][4][5]

In May 2022, broadcaster Greg Burns joined Nation Radio UK.[6]

In April 2025, broadcaster Roberto joined the Nation network hosting breakfast on Nation 80s and weekday evenings on Nation Radio UK.

As of September 2024, the station broadcasts to a weekly audience of 171,000, according to RAJAR.[7]

In June 2025, the station reverted to the name Nation Radio London and, on 1 August 2025, replaced Time 107.5.[8]

Nation Radio UK, the radio network, operates through wholly owned subsidiaries of Nation Broadcasting Limited, a private media company that serves as its parent entity. Nation Broadcasting Limited was incorporated on 4 February 1999 and began trading in 2002 under the founding leadership of Jason Bryant, who established the company with the launch of its first station, Radio Pembrokeshire. Nation Radio UK itself traces its origins to 2016, when Nation Broadcasting launched the station as Thames Radio on London's Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB) platform, marking the company's entry into national-scale operations. Since its inception, Nation Radio UK has remained under full ownership by Nation Broadcasting, with no major alterations to the equity structure reported as of November 2025. Other key figures in the ownership hierarchy include Corrina Dawn Bryant, reappointed as a director in 2020, and Martin Stephen Mumford, appointed as secretary in 2009 and director in 2020, who holds significant operational oversight within the group. Subsequent investments by Nation Broadcasting have focused on network expansion up to 2025, including acquisitions of local licenses, development of digital multiplexing partnerships like Muxco, and rebranding initiatives to integrate more stations under the Nation Radio umbrella, thereby scaling the overall portfolio without external equity dilution. Former presenters

Nation Radio UK's former presenters include a mix of talent from its predecessor station Thames Radio and subsequent lineup changes following rebrands and format shifts. The station's early history featured high-profile broadcasters who helped launch the service before a major overhaul in 2017. Thames Radio, which operated from June 2016 until its rebranding to Nation Radio London in June 2018, began with a lineup of veteran UK radio personalities drawn from and Capital backgrounds. Breakfast host Neil Fox, known for his energetic style from previous roles at Capital FM, anchored the morning show and contributed to the station's initial focus on and hits. Other key early presenters included , who hosted drivetime segments with his signature humor; , delivering weekend soul and specials based on his long career; , handling late evenings with a mix of classic tracks; Neil Francis, presenting overnights; Martin Buchanan, on mid-mornings; and , covering afternoons. These hosts were instrumental in establishing Thames Radio's nostalgic adult contemporary format on London's DAB platform, attracting listeners with live, personality-driven programming. However, in June 2017, all presenters were abruptly dropped as the station shifted to a non-stop music format with pre-recorded specialist shows and no live studio output, a move attributed to operational restructuring by owner Nation Broadcasting. This change predated the full rebrand but marked the end of their tenures, with many transitioning to other networks or retirement. Post-rebranding, Nation Radio maintained a more syndicated and automated approach initially, but introduced live talent over time, leading to further departures amid network expansions and health-related issues. Russ Williams joined the network in 2020 to host the weekday morning show across multiple stations, bringing his experience from previous roles at Smooth Radio and contributing to the growth of Nation's regional presence through engaging content. His departure was announced in April 2025 while he was on for ; he was informed during his absence that he would not return, leading to the syndication of Mark Collins' mid-morning show in the slot. In a significant 2025 acquisition, Nation Broadcasting took over Time 107.5 FM in and west , rebranding it as Nation Radio effective August 1, 2025, which resulted in the immediate removal of local talent. Long-serving presenter Neil Andrews, who had hosted the show for 18 years since 2007 and built a loyal audience with community-focused segments, was taken off air without notice or a farewell broadcast following the takeover. This abrupt exit highlighted tensions in the transition, as Andrews expressed regret over the lack of closure for listeners and the impact on freelance contributors.
