Family background
Rubi Rose Benton was born on October 2, 1997, in Lexington, Kentucky.[8][2] Her mother, Nardos Ghebrelul, is an Eritrean immigrant who works as a dentist.[2][9] Her father, John Benton, is a lawyer and an adopted multiracial man whose biological ancestry includes Japanese and European descent.[9][3] Rubi Rose has two sisters: an older sister named Scarlette and a younger sister named Coral.[8] The family's blended Eritrean and multiracial heritage exposed her to a variety of cultural traditions from an early age, including influences from her mother's East African roots and her father's background.[3][10] This diverse home environment in Lexington later extended to brief family relocations, including time in Switzerland with her mother's relatives and a move to Atlanta, Georgia.[8][11]Upbringing and influences
Rubi Rose Benton was born on October 2, 1997, in Lexington, Kentucky, to an Eritrean immigrant mother and a multiracial father, which shaped her multicultural background from an early age.[5] She was raised in a Mormon household.[3] Her parents later divorced, after which the family stopped attending church.[12] During her elementary school years, around age 10 or 11 (circa 2007–2009), she resided for about 1.5 years in Geneva, Switzerland, staying with extended family due to her parents' issues and immersing herself in a European environment that exposed her to diverse international perspectives and lifestyles.[13][3] This period, marked by visits to cousins and appreciation for the region's beauty, contrasted with her American upbringing and contributed to her adaptability in later transitions.[14] In the summer of 2013, during her junior year of high school, Rose moved to Snellville, a suburb of Atlanta, Georgia, alongside her mother and sisters, marking a significant shift as she adjusted to the dynamic Southern culture and hip-hop scene prevalent in the area.[15][3] The relocation represented a culture shock, introducing her to a more urban and musically vibrant atmosphere compared to her Kentucky roots, and it sparked her deeper engagement with contemporary sounds.[16] This adaptation period in high school laid the groundwork for her evolving artistic interests before pursuing higher education. Rose's early musical influences were rooted in classic artists she discovered through family exposure and media, including Prince, Michael Jackson, The Notorious B.I.G., Marvin Gaye, and Chaka Khan, whose styles emphasized charisma, rhythm, and emotional depth.[5] She has particularly highlighted Prince's impact, noting his sultry, feminine, and sexy presentation as a standout element that resonated with her from a young age: "Prince is just different. From how he looks to how he sounds, I just liked it. Sultriness of him and the sexiness and femininity. He's sexy to me. I loved him."[5] As she matured, these foundations blended with admiration for modern hip-hop figures like Megan Thee Stallion, Cardi B, Nicki Minaj, and Foxy Brown, whose bold lyricism and unapologetic personas inspired her approach to rap and self-expression.[8]Academic pursuits
Following her relocation to the Atlanta area during her junior year of high school, Rubi Rose attended and graduated from Brookwood High School in Gwinnett County, Georgia.[17] After high school, Rose enrolled at Georgia State University in Atlanta, where she pursued a degree in political science with initial aspirations of becoming a lawyer.[18] She balanced her studies with emerging opportunities in entertainment, including modeling and appearances in music videos, such as her breakout role in Migos' 2016 hit "Bad and Boujee," which propelled her into the spotlight.[19] Ultimately, Rose made the deliberate decision to drop out during her senior year, transitioning fully to a career in modeling and music as viral success and professional prospects in the industry took precedence over her academic path.[18][20]Career
Initial breakthroughs (2016–2018)
Rubi Rose's entry into the entertainment industry began in October 2016 when she appeared as the lead model in the music video for Migos' single "Bad and Boujee" featuring Lil Uzi Vert. The video, directed by Daps and released on October 4, 2016, quickly went viral, amassing over 1.3 billion views on YouTube as of 2025. Her prominent role, showcasing her as a confident video vixen alongside other models, propelled her visibility overnight, marking a pivotal shift from her studies at Georgia State University, where she had been pursuing political science.[21][22] Following the success of "Bad and Boujee," Rose capitalized on her newfound fame by securing additional modeling gigs in hip-hop music videos and establishing herself as an internet personality. She appeared in several early projects, including videos for artists in the Atlanta rap scene, which further solidified her reputation as a sought-after video vixen. Her social media presence, particularly on Instagram, exploded during this period; what began as modest posts from her college days evolved into a platform with millions of followers by 2018, driven by her charismatic modeling photos, lifestyle content, and interactions with fans. This growth transformed her into a digital influencer, blending fashion-forward imagery with subtle hints of her artistic aspirations.[19][20] During 2017 and 2018, Rose's personal relationship with rapper Playboi Carti provided key industry connections, introducing her to producers and collaborators in the Atlanta music scene. The couple, who had been dating since around 2016, shared mutual circles that facilitated her transition into music. This period of networking culminated in her debut musical effort in September 2018, when she released an unofficial remix of Carti's unreleased 2016 track "On Top," adding her own verse to the MexikoDro and StoopidXool-produced beat. The release, available on platforms like SoundCloud and Audiomack, highlighted her rap style—bold, playful, and trap-influenced—signaling her ambitions beyond modeling and establishing her as an emerging artist.[23][24]Mixtape era and rising fame (2019–2021)
In 2019, Rubi Rose released her debut single "Big Mouth," which marked her entry into the music industry as a rapper. The track, produced by Chinwuba Mbagwu, was issued on June 2, 2019, via Craft Recordings and quickly amassed over 4 million streams on Spotify within months of its release.[25][26] The song's bold lyrics and confident delivery helped establish Rose's signature style, blending trap influences with assertive female bravado, and it contributed to her growing online buzz through social media shares and video views exceeding 16 million on YouTube by late 2021.[17] The success of "Big Mouth" led to Rose signing a record deal with Hitco Entertainment in 2019, a label co-founded by industry veteran L.A. Reid and focused on emerging talent. The signing, facilitated by A&R executive Chris Turner, provided Rose with professional resources to develop her sound and expand her reach in hip-hop.[27][4] Later that year, she appeared as a featured model in the music video for Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion's hit single "WAP," released on August 7, 2020, which amplified her visibility among mainstream audiences and fellow artists.[28] Rose's momentum culminated in the release of her debut mixtape, For the Streets, on December 25, 2020, through Hitco. The eight-track project, clocking in at around 20 minutes, showcased her versatility with themes of street life, relationships, and self-empowerment, opening with an interlude from Cardi B and closing on a high-energy note. Key collaborations included Future and PARTYNEXTDOOR on the track "Whole Lotta Liquor," while standout solo cuts like "He In His Feelings" and "Back in the Booth" highlighted her rapid-fire flow and melodic hooks. The mixtape received generally positive fan reception for its raw energy and Rose's charismatic presence, though some critics noted its brevity and production as areas for growth in establishing a fully distinct voice.[29][30][31] Her rising profile was further affirmed in 2021 when she was selected as part of XXL magazine's annual Freshman Class, joining emerging artists like 42 Dugg, Flo Milli, and Pooh Shiesty. This honor, announced in June 2021, recognized Rose's breakout potential in hip-hop, where she delivered a standout freestyle emphasizing her authenticity and ambition during the feature's cypher and interview segments.[32]Label affiliations and recent releases (2022–present)
In 2022, Rubi Rose continued her momentum from prior mixtapes with the release of the single "Wifey" on June 10, which showcased her confident, street-infused rap style over a sample of N.E.R.D.'s "Lapdance."[33] A pivotal shift occurred in 2023 when Rose signed with Josh Marshall's Mogul Vision, an imprint of Interscope Records, providing her with major-label backing for the first time.[34] Her debut release under the label, "Hood Bitch Aesthetic," dropped on October 13, blending bold lyrics on independence and allure with trap beats produced by Murda Beatz.[35] Later that year, on November 28, she followed with "Cherry," a track emphasizing playful aggression and released via Mogul Vision/Interscope, further solidifying her presence in the rap scene.[36] Rose expanded her live performance profile by serving as a supporting act on Sexyy Red's "Hood Hottest Princess" tour, commencing in November 2023 and extending through 2024, where she performed alongside acts like Kaliii and YTB Fatt at venues across the U.S.[37] The year 2024 saw additional output with the single "Deserve To Die" on May 17, a gritty reflection on relationships produced under her Interscope affiliation.[38] In October, she appeared in a cameo role in Latto's "Brokey" music video, directed by Laura Marciano and featuring humorous takes on financial independence, aligning with the track's viral TikTok appeal.[39] By 2025, Rose's releases included "Caught out There," "Smell the Roses," and "It's On" on July 25, all singles teasing her forthcoming debut studio album—her first full-length project—with no release date announced as of November 2025.[40][41][42] These tracks highlight an evolving sound incorporating trap-pop elements, such as melodic hooks and upbeat production, marking a departure toward broader accessibility while retaining her raw edge.[43]Other professional activities

In 2021, Rubi Rose launched an OnlyFans account, where she shares exclusive content including photos, videos, and personal interactions with subscribers, positioning it as a key entrepreneurial move in her career.[50][51] The platform has become a major revenue stream for her, with Rose stating in 2025 that she earns at least $400,000 per month, even during slower periods, through subscriptions and pay-per-view content without explicit nudity.[52][53] This income significantly contributes to her estimated net worth of $1.5 million as of 2025, alongside earnings from music and modeling.[54][55] Rose employs a dynamic social media strategy across TikTok and Instagram, where she posts a mix of music teasers, behind-the-scenes lifestyle glimpses, and interactive content to foster fan engagement. Relationships
Rubi Rose's early romantic involvement with rapper Playboi Carti began around 2014 and lasted intermittently until 2017, coinciding with her breakthrough appearance in Migos' "Bad and Boujee" music video in 2016, which helped forge her initial connections in the hip-hop scene.[62][63] The relationship, marked by public ups and downs, exposed Rose to industry networks but also drew scrutiny for its volatility, including later allegations of tumultuous incidents during their time together.[44] In 2020, Rose entered a high-profile relationship with rapper and YouTuber DDG, which lasted until 2021 and played out extensively on social media, amplifying her visibility amid her rising music career.[64][63] The couple's passionate and public dynamic fueled fan engagement but ended amid typical celebrity breakup speculation.[65] Rose's relationship with comedian and actor Druski started in early 2024 and was affirmed through social media posts, including affectionate videos shared in April of that year.[62] Initially rumored to be a publicity stunt, Rose claimed in September 2024 that it was staged, but in April 2025 she clarified that the relationship was genuine and her earlier statement was a lie made to cope with the breakup, which occurred in June 2024.[65][66][63] In an April 2025 appearance on Adin Ross' stream, Rose articulated her dating criteria, stating that potential partners must earn at least $5 million annually to match her lifestyle and success level.[67] As of November 2025, Rose is single.[64] Throughout her romantic history, Rose's short-lived, media-saturated partnerships have consistently heightened her public profile, providing promotional boosts to her music and brand while inviting criticism for their fleeting nature and perceived opportunism.[44][63]Public image and lifestyle
Rubi Rose has cultivated a bold and confident public image, often embodying a "hood bitch" archetype that blends sex appeal, rap bravado, and themes of female empowerment in hip-hop culture. Her persona emphasizes unapologetic self-expression through striking fashion choices and lyrics that highlight independence and street-savvy resilience, resonating with fans who appreciate her fusion of sensuality and assertiveness. This image has been reinforced through her music, such as the 2023 single "Hood Bitch Aesthetic," which celebrates a glamorous yet tough-edged lifestyle.[68] As of 2025, Rubi Rose's net worth is estimated at $1.5 million, derived from diverse streams including her music releases, modeling gigs, OnlyFans subscriptions, and brand endorsements. She has publicly shared that even in a "horrible month," her OnlyFans earnings exceed $400,000, underscoring the platform's significant role in her financial success, though she has expressed mixed feelings about its impact on her career trajectory. No major philanthropic efforts have been publicly documented, representing a notable gap in her public profile amid her rising prominence.[54] Rose maintains a lavish lifestyle centered in Atlanta, where she relocated as a teenager and continues to base her activities, frequently showcasing luxury elements like high-end fashion and vehicles such as a Porsche 911 Turbo S on her social media platforms. Her routine includes a focus on fitness to sustain her model physique, aligning with her emphasis on physical empowerment. Controversies have arisen from her OnlyFans involvement, including backlash for potentially damaging her reputation as a rapper and model, as well as public disputes over past relationships.[17][54][69] In 2025, Rose has asserted her independence as a single woman.[67]Discography
