[edit]History
2016: Formation and debut with Would You Like?
In 2015, Starship Entertainment, a South Korean agency, partnered with China's Yuehua Entertainment to form a multinational girl group under the name WJSN, also known as Cosmic Girls, emphasizing a "cosmic" concept that portrayed the members as space explorers from different planets.[10] This collaboration aimed to blend Korean and Chinese talent, resulting in a 13-member lineup consisting of ten Korean members—Bona, Exy, Seola, Soobin, Luda, Dawon, Eunseo, Yeoreum, Dayoung, and Yeonjung—and three Chinese members—Cheng Xiao, Meng Meiqi, and Wu Xuanyi. The group's branding incorporated space-themed visuals, costumes, and narratives to highlight unity across nationalities and foster a sense of wonder and adventure.[11] Pre-debut activities began in early 2016, with Starship Entertainment releasing individual member teaser images and videos starting January 10 under the "Play-File" series, introducing each member's personality and zodiac-inspired role within the cosmic storyline.[12] On January 20, the group name, debut date, and concept were officially unveiled, building anticipation through multilingual promotions that appealed to both Korean and international audiences. WJSN debuted on February 25, 2016, with their first mini album Would You Like?, a six-track release featuring the lead single "MoMoMo" and a secondary title track "Catch Me." The album's tracklist included "Space Cowgirl" as the intro, alongside "Dazzle Dazzle," "Utinus Save Me," and "At the Club," all infused with upbeat electronic and pop elements to match the space motif.[13] "MoMoMo," with its catchy, repetitive hook and vibrant music video guest-starring actor Lee Kwang-soo, served as the primary promotional track, emphasizing the group's energetic and playful dynamic.[13] The mini album peaked at number 7 on the Gaon Album Chart for the week of February 21–27, 2016, marking a solid entry for a rookie group, and ultimately sold over 13,000 copies in its initial months, establishing initial market presence.[10] Initial promotions focused on music programs, including performances on KBS's Music Bank and SBS's Inkigayo, where the group showcased synchronized choreography and cosmic aesthetics to engage viewers. These efforts, combined with the innovative multinational lineup and thematic branding, helped cultivate an early fanbase known as Ujung, drawn to the group's inclusive, interstellar imagery and multilingual interactions during fan events.[11] On August 17, 2016, WJSN released their second mini album The Secret, featuring the lead single "Secret," a synth-pop track with mysterious and romantic themes that continued the cosmic narrative. The album debuted at number 5 on the Gaon Album Chart and sold approximately 19,000 copies in 2016, with promotions including music show appearances and a concept emphasizing hidden emotions and starry nights.2017–2018: Breakthrough releases, From. WJSN, and Chinese members' activities
In January 2017, WJSN released their third mini album From. WJSN, which included the lead single "I Wish" and marked a continuation of their cosmic concept with themes of longing and connection. The EP debuted at number 6 on the Gaon Album Chart for the week of January 1–7, 2017, selling 36,441 physical copies overall according to Gaon data, while the title track "I Wish" entered the Gaon Digital Chart at number 49 with 41,923 downloads in its first week. Promotions featured music show performances emphasizing the group's synchronized choreography and ethereal visuals, helping to build their domestic fanbase following their debut. Building on this momentum, WJSN shifted to a brighter summer vibe with their first studio album Happy Moment on June 7, 2017, led by the upbeat track "Happy" that incorporated tropical house elements and playful lyrics about joy and romance. The album peaked at number 3 on the Gaon Album Chart for the week of June 4–10, 2017, and sold 38,368 copies in 2017 per Gaon year-end rankings, nearly tripling their previous release's first-week sales of around 10,300 copies as reported by Hanteo.[14] This release highlighted the group's versatility, with promotions including beach-themed music videos and live stages that resonated during the summer season. In late February 2018, WJSN returned with the holiday-inspired mini album Dream Your Dream on February 27, featuring the title track "Dreams Come True," a whimsical fairy-tale concept blending magic and festivity with orchestral arrangements and dual Korean-Chinese versions. The EP debuted at number 2 on the Gaon Album Chart for the week of February 25–March 3, 2018, and included festive promotions such as special winter packaging and performances evoking dreamlike wonder. This release solidified their seasonal appeal, with the lead single peaking at number 23 on the Gaon Download Chart. WJSN's fifth mini album WJ Please? arrived on September 19, 2018, introducing the lead single "Save Me, Save You," a vibrant pop track with retro influences and pleas for connection that earned the group their first music show win on The Show on October 2, 2018. The album debuted at number 3 on the Gaon Album Chart, selling 61,952 copies, and supported international promotions including performances at KCON 2018 Japan in April.[15] Amid these activities, the group held their first fan meeting, "Uzzu Party - Welcome to WJSN," on March 25, 2018, at Yes24 Live Hall in Seoul, featuring interactive games and performances for fans.[16] During mid-2018, Chinese members Cheng Xiao, Meng Meiqi, and Wu Xuanyi entered a temporary hiatus from group activities to focus on individual pursuits in China, including Meng Meiqi and Wu Xuanyi's promotions with Rocket Girls and Cheng Xiao's scheduling conflicts, reducing WJSN to nine members for subsequent releases like WJ Please?.[17] This period marked a breakthrough for the group, with increased visibility through diverse concepts and events that expanded their reach beyond Korea.2019–2020: Expansion with WJ Stay?, As You Wish, and Neverland
In early 2019, WJSN resumed full-group activities with the release of their sixth mini album WJ Stay? on January 8, led by the synth-pop title track "La La Love," which explored themes of love and fantasy through dramatic vocals and echoing production.[18] The Chinese members, who had been on hiatus for individual activities in China since late 2018, contributed vocals to select tracks like "Memories" but did not join promotions due to scheduling conflicts.[19] This partial reunion marked a continuation of the group's cosmic and whimsical aesthetic, building on prior releases while emphasizing emotional depth in relationships. The group followed with their first special summer album For the Summer on June 4, 2019, featuring the upbeat dance track "Boogie Up" as the lead single, which incorporated retro disco elements and vibrant choreography to capture seasonal energy.[20] Promotions highlighted lively music show performances, culminating in WJSN's first music program win for "Boogie Up" on SBS MTV's The Show on June 11.[21] Concurrently, WJSN expanded into the Japanese market through appearances at KCON 2019 Japan and announcements for their Obliviate concert tour, which included planned stops in Osaka and Tokyo to introduce their fantasy-driven sound to international audiences. On November 19, 2019, WJSN released their seventh mini album As You Wish, with the title track of the same name blending tropical pop and synth elements to evoke romantic imagination and wish fulfillment.[22] The EP reinforced the group's signature ethereal themes, supported by promotions that showcased synchronized dances and vocal harmonies. During this period, members diversified into acting and variety shows; for instance, Bona appeared on MBC's Law of the Jungle in Amazon, blending survival challenges with group visibility, while others like Exy and Eunseo featured on SBS's Amazing Saturday – DoReMi Market, enhancing WJSN's public profile through engaging, lighthearted segments.[23] Entering 2020 amid the COVID-19 pandemic, WJSN released their eighth mini album Neverland on June 9, featuring the lead single "Butterfly," a dreamy electropop track with orchestral flourishes and lyrics about eternal youth and escapism, alongside b-sides like "HOLA" and "Pantomime." The album achieved a sales milestone, surpassing 100,000 copies in its debut month according to Gaon Chart data.[24] Global challenges led to the cancellation of the Obliviate tour's live dates, prompting adaptations like the online fan concert AS WE WISH on October 24, which allowed virtual interaction through streamed performances of hits and fan requests.2021–2022: Unnatural, subunit promotions, competition appearances, member departures, and Sequence
In May 2021, WJSN's subunit The Black, consisting of members Exy, Seola, Bona, and Eunseo, made their debut with the single album My Attitude, featuring the title track "Easy," a chic, attitude-driven dance-pop song that highlighted the members' sophisticated charisma and garnered over 50,000 copies in initial sales.[25] This marked the group's second official subunit following Chocome's earlier activities, expanding WJSN's promotional strategies amid their evolving group concepts. Later, in January 2022, the original subunit Chocome—comprising Soobin, Luda, Yeoreum, and Dayoung—returned with the single "Super Yuppers," infusing playful energy into the group's lineup before the full ensemble's competitive engagements.[26] WJSN's ninth extended play, Unnatural, released on March 31, 2021, shifted the group's aesthetic toward a more enigmatic and mature theme, departing from their signature cosmic motifs to explore psychological tension through noir-inspired visuals of hidden emotions and subtle romance. The title track "Unnatural" depicted the awkward, unnatural behaviors arising from infatuation, blending synth-heavy production with elegant choreography that emphasized the members' poised allure, while the album's tracks like "Monologue" added introspective ballads for depth. Commercially, Unnatural debuted at number three on the Gaon Album Chart and sold approximately 72,000 copies in its first month, reflecting sustained fan support despite the absence of Chinese members Cheng Xiao, Meng Meiqi, and Wu Xuanyi due to scheduling conflicts in China.[27][28] In March 2022, WJSN participated in Mnet's survival variety show Queendom 2, competing against LOONA, VIVIZ, Hyolyn, Brave Girls, and Kep1er through reinterpreted hits, original comebacks, and fan-voted challenges that showcased their versatility in genres from retro pop to intense dance battles. The group performed standout stages, including a bold cover of their own "Unnatural" and an original track "AURA" for the comeback round, which blended ethereal synths with powerful vocals to highlight their cohesive energy. Culminating in the June 2 finale, WJSN emerged as the overall winners, earning the grand prize through a combination of on-site voting, streaming metrics, and judge evaluations, boosting their visibility and leading to a special digital release of "AURA (Queendom Ver.)" to commemorate the victory.[29][30] The period also saw significant lineup changes, as the contracts of Chinese members Cheng Xiao, Meng Meiqi, and Wu Xuanyi—shared with Yuehua Entertainment—expired at the end of December 2022 without renewal, leading to their official departure from WJSN announced on March 3, 2023, after years focused on individual promotions in China amid regulatory restrictions on Korean group activities there. Similarly, member Luda's exclusive contract with Starship Entertainment terminated in March 2023 following its expiration, transitioning her to non-exclusive status while she remained an affiliated member of WJSN to pursue acting opportunities. These departures reduced the active lineup, signaling a transitional phase for the group.[31][4] Following their Queendom 2 triumph, WJSN released their first special single album Sequence on July 5, 2022, serving as a poignant capstone to their collective era with themes of closure and resilience, featuring the lead single "Last Sequence," a dynamic pop track with pulsating bass and synth layers that evoked a sense of finality in relationships. The album included "Done," a reflective anthem on moving forward; the full version of "AURA" from the show; and "Stronger," a duet by Dawon and Yeonjung emphasizing empowerment. Sequence debuted strongly on domestic charts, underscoring the group's enduring appeal before the impending changes.[30] Marking a celebratory milestone amid these shifts, WJSN held their 2022 WJSN Concert 'Wonderland' on June 11 and 12 at Seoul's Olympic Hall, their first standalone fan concert in three years, drawing over 10,000 attendees across both days with a setlist spanning hits like "Unnatural" and Queendom 2 performances, fostering an immersive "wonderland" atmosphere through elaborate staging and subunit showcases.[32]2023–present: Group hiatus, contract renewals, and member solo pursuits
Following the release of their final group album Sequence on July 5, 2022, WJSN entered an indefinite hiatus, with no new group music or promotions announced as of November 2025.[33][34] The absence of activities marked a shift from collective endeavors to individual pursuits, amid challenges including member departures and agency priorities. In March 2023, Starship Entertainment confirmed contract renewals for eight Korean members—Seola, Bona, Exy, Soobin, Eunseo, Yeoreum, Dayoung, and Yeonjung—allowing them to continue under the label on exclusive terms, while Luda and Dawon transitioned to non-exclusive affiliations, maintaining their status as part of the 10-member group despite Dawon's health-related hiatus since 2022.[35][36][37][4] During this period, members pursued diverse solo careers, highlighting their versatility beyond group performances. Bona solidified her acting presence with lead roles in Joseon Attorney: A Morality (2023), Pyramid Game (2024), and The Haunted Palace (2025), building on her earlier breakthrough in Twenty-Five Twenty-One (2022).[38][39] Exy emerged as a prominent songwriter and producer, contributing lyrics and composition to tracks like H1-KEY's "Rose Blossom" (2023) and IVE's hits, while also working with ILLIT, CRAVITY, and The Boyz through 2025.[40][41] Eunseo graduated from Sungkyunkwan University's Acting and Singing program with a Bachelor of Arts in August 2025, transitioning into acting roles that leveraged her performance background.[42] Dayoung made her solo debut on September 9, 2025, with the digital single album gonna love me, right?, featuring the lead track "Body," followed by promotional activities including a music video release in October.[43][44] Yeonjung focused on vocal showcases, including her role in the musical Frida (2025) and a collaboration single "Special Love" (2023), emphasizing her range in live performances.[45][46] The hiatus has stirred mixed emotions among fans, with over 1,000 days without a comeback by April 2025 prompting discussions on social platforms about the group's future and Starship's promotion strategy.[33] Despite rumors, leader Exy reaffirmed in January 2025 that WJSN remains a 10-member group, denying disbandment and expressing commitment to eventual activities.[47] In the industry, the prolonged break has positioned WJSN as a veteran act navigating solo successes amid a competitive landscape dominated by newer groups, though their loyal fanbase, UJUNG, continues to advocate for a reunion.[48]Members

Former members
Cheng Xiao (born July 15, 1998) joined WJSN as the main dancer, lead dancer, sub-vocalist, visual, and center upon debut in 2016, renowned for her leadership in the group's intricate dance routines that defined hits like "Secret" and "Save Me, Save You," where her fluid style and stage presence helped elevate WJSN's reputation in the K-pop dance scene.[7] Her contributions extended to subunit activities and international promotions, showcasing the group's multinational appeal. Cheng Xiao's contract with Yuehua Entertainment expired in March 2023, leading to her departure from WJSN amid the challenges of the group's Sino-Korean collaboration structure, exacerbated by tightened China-Korea entertainment relations and travel restrictions from 2020 to 2022 that limited cross-border activities.[3][49] Post-departure, she has thrived in Chinese entertainment, appearing in dramas like New Life Begins and variety shows.[49] Meiqi (born Meng Meiqi on October 15, 1998) was a lead vocalist and sub-dancer in WJSN from her 2016 debut, providing strong vocal support in ballads like "I Wish" and harmonizing in the group's signature cosmic-themed performances, while her brief but impactful presence helped diversify the lineup's vocal dynamics.[7] Like her Chinese counterparts, Meiqi ceased regular group activities after 2018 due to commitments in China, and her Yuehua contract expired in March 2023, culminating her time with WJSN under the strains of geopolitical tensions between China and Korea from 2020 to 2022, including regulatory hurdles on Hallyu content that hindered joint promotions.[3][50] Since leaving, she has focused on solo music and acting in China, with notable 2025 activity including her audition for the competition show Singer 2025.[51] Xuan Yi (born Wu Xuanyi on January 26, 1995) debuted in WJSN as a lead vocalist, sub-dancer, and visual in 2016, contributing ethereal vocals to tracks like "Happy" and enhancing the group's visual storytelling through her elegant presence in music videos and live stages.[7] Her involvement in early breakthroughs, including the 2017 EP From. WJSN, underscored the multinational lineup's potential before her return to China in 2018 for Produce 101 China. Xuan Yi's departure followed the March 2023 expiration of her Yuehua contract, influenced by the logistical and regulatory barriers in China-Korea relations during 2020–2022, such as COVID-19 border closures and content restrictions that effectively paused her WJSN promotions.[3][50] Afterward, she has pursued a robust career in Chinese media, debuting solo with "25" in 2020 and starring in dramas like The Heart; in 2025, she continues promotions via variety shows such as Ride The Wind and upcoming projects.[49][52] The departures of WJSN's Chinese members highlight the vulnerabilities of multinational K-pop groups, where shifting diplomatic and economic ties between China and Korea—intensified by the 2016 THAAD dispute's lingering effects and 2020–2022 pandemic-era policies—created insurmountable barriers to sustained collaboration, ultimately leading to their indefinite hiatus from group activities by 2018 and formal exits in 2023.[37][53]Membership timeline
The membership of WJSN has evolved since its formation, with key changes in lineup size and member status occurring at specific points.[54]| Period | Lineup Size | Status Changes |

Subunits
Chocome
WJSN CHOCOME (우주소녀 쪼꼬미), often stylized as WJSN CHOCOME, is the first sub-unit of the South Korean girl group WJSN, formed by Starship Entertainment.[59] The unit was announced on September 23, 2020, and consists of four members: Soobin, Luda, Yeoreum, and Dayoung.[59] Drawing from the Korean word "jjokkomi," which evokes something small, cute, and endearing, the subunit embodies a bubbly and innocent concept, contrasting WJSN's typical cosmic and fantastical themes to highlight a lighter, more playful side of the members' talents.[59] The subunit made its debut on October 7, 2020, with the single album Hmph! (흥칫뿡), featuring the title track of the same name—a upbeat dance-pop song with quirky, humorous lyrics and choreography emphasizing cute expressions and synchronized movements.[59] The music video, released alongside the album, portrays the members in whimsical scenarios involving everyday mishaps resolved with charm and energy, garnering attention for its lighthearted vibe.[59] Promotions included performances on major music programs such as The Show, Music Bank, and Inkigayo, where the unit showcased their vocal harmonies and playful stage presence.[60] The title track "Hmph!" achieved moderate success, peaking at number 70 on the Gaon Download Chart, reflecting its appeal among fans for its catchy, nostalgic sound reminiscent of classic trot influences. Activities concluded in late November 2020, marking the end of initial promotions.[60] Following their debut, WJSN CHOCOME participated in fan events and variety appearances to build engagement, including covers of group tracks and other artists' songs on Weekly Idol in January 2022, where they demonstrated their versatility through comic and synchronized dance challenges.[61] The subunit returned with their second single album, Super Yuppers!, on January 5, 2022, led by the title track "Super Yuppers," a vibrant pop track with empowering, fun lyrics and colorful visuals that reinforced their cute image.[62] This release included music show promotions and further solidified their role in diversifying WJSN's discography by exploring sub-unit dynamics focused on youthful energy and vocal interplay.[62] No additional releases have followed, with the unit's activities integrating into broader group efforts amid WJSN's evolving lineup. The Black
WJSN THE BLACK is the second official sub-unit of WJSN, established by Starship Entertainment to present a mature, mysterious, and powerful image that contrasts sharply with the cute and playful aesthetic of the group's first sub-unit, Chocome. Consisting of members Seola, Exy, Bona, and Eunseo, the unit was announced on April 26, 2021, highlighting the members' chic charisma and synchronized synergy.[28][63] The sub-unit debuted on May 12, 2021, with the single album My Attitude, led by the title track "Easy." The song blends smooth R&B vocals with a confident, alluring vibe, accompanied by intricate choreography featuring sharp formations and dynamic group movements that emphasize the members' powerful stage presence. This release served as a promotional bridge for WJSN's broader activities, including their participation in the survival show Queendom 2 later that year.[64][28] Promotions for My Attitude spanned several weeks on major music programs such as Music Bank and The Show, where the unit captivated audiences with their elegant visuals and harmonious performances. Fans praised the sub-unit's sophisticated concept and the members' individual strengths—Seola's emotive vocals, Exy's leadership and rap, Bona's visual appeal, and Eunseo's dance prowess—leading to strong initial reception and over 50,000 album copies sold in the first week alone. Despite the positive response, WJSN THE BLACK has not issued any follow-up releases or major activities since wrapping promotions in early June 2021.[65][66][67]Discography

Digital singles
WJSN has issued a select number of digital singles focused on promotional campaigns, brand collaborations, and entertainment program tie-ins, distributed exclusively through online platforms without physical components. These releases often highlight the group's versatile sound, blending pop, synth, and dance elements to engage fans during promotional periods or special projects. One of the group's earliest digital efforts was "Kiss Me," released on July 14, 2017, in partnership with the cosmetics brand KissMe. The upbeat pop track, featuring catchy melodies and vibrant energy suited for summer promotion, was made available on major Korean streaming services including Melon and Genie. It served as WJSN's first promotional single, emphasizing their fresh, youthful image to align with the brand's marketing campaign.[80] In 2018, WJSN participated in the project group WJMK alongside members from labelmates Weki Meki, releasing the digital single "Strong" on June 1. This hip-hop dance track incorporated a distinctive flute melody and refreshing beats, designed as a seasonal summer release to showcase cross-group synergy under Starship Entertainment. Distributed digitally on platforms like Melon and Genie, it highlighted the performers' dynamic choreography and vocal interplay.[81] The group ventured into app-based collaborations with "Let Me In," their first standalone digital single under UNIVERSE Music, launched on September 23, 2021. This synth-pop song combined addictive rhythms with guitar elements, promoting interactive fan engagement through the UNIVERSE platform. Available on streaming sites such as Melon, Genie, and Spotify, it underscored WJSN's adaptability in digital ecosystems during a period of limited full-group activities.[82] WJSN's involvement in Mnet's Queendom 2 led to the original track "AURA" as part of the show's final digital EP, released on May 27, 2022. The empowering anthem, with cosmic-themed lyrics and bold production, was crafted specifically for the competition's comeback round and streamed on platforms including Melon and Genie. It played a pivotal role in the group's victory on the program, amassing significant online buzz and fan votes to secure first place overall.[83]Filmography
Reality and variety shows
WJSN has actively participated in various Korean reality and variety programs since their debut, using these platforms to highlight their group dynamics, humor, and performance skills. These appearances have helped build fan engagement and showcase their adaptability in non-musical formats, often featuring games, challenges, and personal anecdotes. The group's inaugural reality show, Would You Like Girls (My Cosmic Diary), premiered on Mnet on June 9, 2016, and ran for eight episodes every Thursday at 7:30 p.m. KST. Narrated from the perspective of a dedicated fan, Kim Dukkhoo, the program offered an intimate behind-the-scenes view of their early career, including debut preparations and daily life as rookies, which endeared them to audiences by revealing their playful interactions and challenges in blending Korean and Chinese members.[84] In 2016, WJSN made their debut showcase on Weekly Idol with a performance of their title track "Mo Mo Mo," introducing their cosmic concept through energetic choreography and random play dances during the September 28 episode. This appearance marked a key promotional moment, allowing the 12-member group to demonstrate their synchronized skills and unique "space" theme to a wide idol-focused audience. Subsequent visits, such as the August 20, 2020 episode, featured discussions of promotional highlights and further games that emphasized their longevity and charm.[85][86] The group appeared multiple times on Knowing Bros, starting with episode 59 on January 21, 2017, where full members engaged in the show's signature classroom skits, quizzes, and talent displays, sharing debut stories and earning praise for their quick wit. A later episode on January 4, 2020 (episode 212), spotlighted member Bona alongside other guests, focusing on acting aspirations and group bonds through comedic segments that highlighted WJSN's versatility. These outings contributed to their relatable image among variety viewers.[87][88] WJSN's most significant reality exposure came with Queendom 2 on Mnet, airing from March 31 to June 2, 2022, every Thursday at 9:20 p.m. KST, where they competed against VIVIZ, LOONA, Kep1er, Brave Girls, and Hyolyn through position evaluations, original performances, and fan votes. Notable moments included their reimagined "As You Wish" stage and unit performances, culminating in a first-place win that amplified their popularity; post-show, their comeback album Sequence sold 130,508 copies in its first week (Hanteo Chart), surpassing previous records.[89] The program generated over 170 million cumulative global views and topped buzz rankings for non-drama TV shows, significantly elevating their domestic profile.[90][91][92][93]Web series and dramas
WJSN has utilized digital platforms to produce engaging web series that offer fans behind-the-scenes access to the group's daily activities, promotions, and subunit endeavors. The flagship series, Uzzu Tape, debuted in March 2016 on V Live and features short episodes centered around the members' mascot character Uzzu, including travel vlogs, preparation for comebacks, and casual interactions. It is an ongoing series with over 230 episodes as of 2025.[94][95] Subunit specials extended this digital presence; for instance, WJSN Chocome released promotional web content in 2020 on YouTube and V Live, such as behind-the-scenes clips and interviews tied to their debut single "Hmph!", emphasizing their quirky, youthful concept. Similarly, WJSN The Black produced online specials in 2021, including teaser videos and live Q&A sessions to highlight their sophisticated image during the "Easy" promotions.[96] In the realm of web dramas, WJSN members have participated in short-form online series that align with group visibility and promotional cycles. The full group starred in the 2019 web drama Girls' School Life, a three-episode comedy released on 1theK's YouTube channel, where the members portrayed high school students navigating everyday school antics in a vlog-style narrative.[97] Individual appearances in member-led web dramas have also supported broader group exposure. Seola took the lead role in the 2021 SF fantasy romance Love in Black Hole on WeTV, playing a college student entangled in a supernatural love story via a mysterious portal, which garnered attention for its innovative plot and visual effects.[98] Eunseo starred opposite SF9's Chani in the 2021 KakaoTV fantasy romance Jinx, depicting an unlucky student's battle with a sneeze-induced curse and unrequited love, further showcasing her acting range during WJSN's active promotion period.[99] Luda appeared in the 2023 web drama My 20th Twenty (also known as My X-Like 20), a youth-oriented story exploring personal growth in one's twenties, aligning with the group's post-pandemic digital outreach.[100][101] Following the departure of Chinese members in 2023 and the group's shift toward individual activities, members continued to expand their acting portfolios. Bona gained widespread recognition for her lead role as Na Hee-do in the 2022 sports drama Twenty-Five Twenty-One (tvN), portraying a fencer navigating youth and romance during the 1998 IMF crisis, which earned her multiple awards including Best New Actress at the 58th Baeksang Arts Awards. In 2023, she starred as a lawyer in historical drama Joseon Attorney: A Morality (MBC). More recently, Bona led the 2024 high school thriller Pyramid Game (TVING) as a transfer student uncovering bullying hierarchies, and appeared in the 2025 horror mystery The Haunted Palace (SBS) as Yeo-ri. These roles have solidified her as one of K-pop's prominent actresses as of November 2025.[102] Following the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, WJSN shifted toward more virtual web content to maintain fan connections, including enhanced V Live streams and hybrid comeback shows like the 2022 Sequence online event, which incorporated interactive elements and pre-recorded skits reminiscent of their earlier series. These efforts emphasized accessibility on platforms like YouTube and Weverse, boosting global engagement amid restricted in-person activities.Concerts and tours
Headlining concerts
WJSN's headlining concerts have served as standalone showcases of their signature cosmic and fantasy aesthetics, evolving from intimate venues to larger arenas as the group's popularity grew. These events typically featured elaborate stage productions, including themed visuals, special unit performances, and interactive segments with fans, such as VCR messages and ments to foster a sense of connection with their fandom, Ujung. The concerts often tied into promotions for recent albums, highlighting key tracks from their discography.[103][104] The group's debut headlining concert, titled Would You Like – Happy Moment, took place on May 19 and 20, 2017, at Blue Square Samsung Card Hall in Seoul, accommodating around 1,400 to 2,000 attendees per show. This event marked WJSN's first solo performance after their debut in 2016, emphasizing their cosmic girl concept through vibrant lighting and fantasy-inspired outfits during performances of hits like "Happy" and unit stages. Fan interactions included close-up ments and surprise elements, creating an energetic atmosphere in the compact venue. Tickets sold out quickly, reflecting early fan enthusiasm.[105] Their second headlining concert, Would You Stay – Secret Box, was held on March 2 and 3, 2019, at Blue Square iMarket Hall in Seoul. Building on their growing reputation, the production incorporated mystery-themed elements aligned with the group's fantasy narrative, featuring special stages for songs like "Secret" and "Save Me, Save You," along with fan-engaging games and heartfelt ments. The event drew strong attendance in the mid-sized hall, showcasing improved choreography and stage effects compared to their debut show.[104][106] WJSN's planned third concert, Obliviate, scheduled for February 22 and 23, 2020, at a Seoul venue, was ultimately canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, postponing what would have been an expansion of their cosmic-themed live experiences. The decision prioritized health and safety for fans, artists, and staff amid rising cases.[107] The group returned with Wonderland on June 11 and 12, 2022, at Olympic Hall in Seoul, their largest headlining venue to date with a capacity of approximately 3,500. This fantasy-themed production transported fans to a "mysterious and crazy" wonderland through elaborate sets, vibrant costumes, and special stages blending cosmic motifs with fairytale elements, including performances of "Last Sequence" and fan-favorite tracks. Interactive segments featured direct ments and online streaming via Beyond LIVE for global audiences. All tickets sold out rapidly, underscoring the event's high demand and marking significant production evolution from their earlier shows, with enhanced visuals and choreography.[103][108] WJSN held their next headlining event, the fan-concert 2023 WJSN Fan-Con 'CODENAME: UJUNG', on January 7 and 8, 2023, at Blue Square Mastercard Hall in Seoul. The event, which included live performances of tracks such as "Done" and "Dream Come True," interactive fan games, and ments, maintained the group's cosmic and fantasy aesthetic with themed staging. It was streamed online via Beyond LIVE on the second day, allowing global fan participation, and highlighted the bond with Ujung amid the group's evolving lineup. Tickets sold out, reflecting continued domestic fan support.[109]Headlining tours
WJSN's first headlining tour, titled Would You Like? Zepp Tour in Japan, marked the group's debut overseas concert series in 2019. Announced in June, the tour consisted of four performances across three cities, commencing on August 17 with two shows at Zepp DiverCity in Tokyo (afternoon and evening sessions), followed by a single show at Zepp Osaka Bayside in Osaka on August 24, and concluding at Zepp Nagoya in Nagoya on August 25.[110][111] The setlist featured a mix of their popular tracks like "MoMoMo," "I Wish," and "Secret," alongside Japanese versions of select songs to engage local audiences, with variations including special stages and fan interactions tailored to each venue.[112] Each venue held capacities ranging from 1,600 to 2,700, drawing enthusiastic crowds that underscored WJSN's growing popularity in Japan following their 2018 Japanese debut single.[111] This tour represented a pivotal step in WJSN's international expansion, as their first multi-city headlining endeavor outside South Korea, fostering direct connections with Japanese fans and boosting merchandise sales through official goods like light sticks and photo books. It highlighted logistical challenges such as coordinating travel across cities and adapting performances to smaller Zepp halls, which emphasized intimate fan experiences over large-scale production. The success of the tour, with sold-out shows, contributed significantly to the group's global fanbase growth by solidifying their presence in Asia's key market and inspiring subsequent fan engagements.[110] In late 2019, WJSN announced their second headlining tour, 2020 WJSN Concert 'Obliviate', planned as an Asian extension building on the momentum from the previous year. The itinerary included two shows in Seoul at Olympic Hall on February 22 and 23, followed by two in Osaka at Cool Japan Park Osaka WW Hall on March 14 and 15, and two in Tokyo at Toyosu PIT on March 21 and 22.[113] However, the Seoul dates were canceled in February 2020 due to the escalating COVID-19 pandemic, prioritizing health safety for artists and fans, with subsequent Japanese legs postponed and ultimately canceled by May. This disruption halted what was intended to be a broader regional outreach, including potential setlist expansions with tracks from their As You Wish album. The cancellation exemplified the broader challenges faced by K-pop acts during the early pandemic, limiting physical tours and shifting focus to online concerts like the 2020 As We Wish stream, while delaying in-person Asia expansions. Post-2019, WJSN's international activities leaned toward smaller-scale fan meetings, which served as mini-tours with interactive segments but lacked the full concert scope of earlier plans. These efforts, though constrained, helped maintain fan engagement across Asia, supporting gradual growth in their overseas following amid global travel restrictions.[32]Awards and nominations
WJSN has garnered several awards since their debut, including rookie recognitions in 2016 and 2017, as well as multiple music show victories that highlight their fan support and performance impact. The group achieved their first music show win in 2018 with "Save Me, Save You" on The Show, a milestone after 951 days since debut. They have since accumulated 9 music show wins across various promotions, with "Boogie Up" earning four in 2019 alone, including on M Countdown. Other notable victories include year-end honors for emerging talent and competition show triumphs, such as winning Queendom 2 in 2022 with a final score of 81,020 points.
