Sabrina Annlynn Carpenter was born in Quakertown, Pennsylvania, to David and Elizabeth Carpenter. She was raised in East Greenville and homeschooled, with her father supporting her early interest in music by building a recording studio for her.

At the age of 10, Sabrina began posting videos on YouTube singing covers of songs by artists like Christina Aguilera and Adele. She also participated in the singing contest 'The Next Miley Cyrus Project,' where she placed third.

Sabrina landed her first acting role as Paula in the TV series 'Law & Order: Special Victims Unit' in 2011. She then became part of the Disney Channel and Hollywood Records family, guest starring in various shows and releasing her debut single 'Can't Blame a Girl for Trying' in 2014. She also starred in the Disney Channel series 'Girl Meets World' as Maya Hart from 2014 to 2017.
